My family love eating here and it is our go to place when craving sushi. A typical order would be: EZ Roll, Cali Roll, Spicy Tuna Hand Roll, Magic Dragon Roll and 2-3 spicy mayos on the side. Our to-go order usually totals $80 with tip. Pros: Sushi is pretty fresh for Fresno. Portions are good. Decent prices. Bento boxes are not bad. Friendly staff. They answer their phone for takeout orders even when super busy. Orders usually take 20-30 min to be ready. Cons: They skimp on the spicy mayo so you have to tell them to fill it all the way up since it's $1 each. Use to be $0.25 each. Don't recommend the fried rice (bland); maybe try getting a few tips from teppan chefs ;) Tried other places and this is our go to place for sushi. Expect a loud atmosphere when walking in but most restaurants are these days. All in all, would recommend this place if you happen to be in the area and craving sushi. read more

This place is great! I got to try 4 different appetizers, the jalapeño bomb, shrimp tempura, spicy garlic edamame, and baked mussel. My ranking for most to least favorite: 1. Edamame (you just can't miss with this! It comes coated in like a nice sauce, reminds me of a seafood boil sauce). 2. Baked Mussel- if you're a mussel fan like myself, this is pretty good. 3. Jalapeño bomb: it's a stuff jalapeño, with some umami flavor, little to no spice FYI. 4. Shrimp tempura was okay. Maybe if it had more crunch to it, and the veggies on the inside felt really really soft. I got to try 2 main entrees: I liked the sashimi way more than the special. The special is aesthetically super pleasing and well crafted. It's hard for me to beat the tastiness and rich flavors of the sashimi! Service was sweet and kind. I haven't found many go-to sushi spots since moving to Fresno, but Maya Sushi Lounge is officially at the top of my list! I came here with a friend, and we had an incredible experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with the garlic edamame and the jalapeño bombs --both were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The highlight of the night was definitely the "Maya Special." We weren't sure what to get, so we told our server what we liked, and she told us the chef would combine all our favorites into a custom roll. It was such a cool, personalized touch! Maya Sushi is easily my favorite sushi spot in Fresno, it's consistently fresh, quick, and satisfying every time. We got the Spicy Garlic Edamame to start, which is super flavorful and a great way to kick things off. The Spicy Scallop Hand Roll tasted fresh and well-balanced with lots of mini scallops included. For cooked and raw rolls, there are so many solid options. The Shrimp Tempura Crunch Roll had large, crispy pieces of shrimp, and the Spider Roll featured nicely fried soft shell crab with great texture and didn't taste oily. The Dragon Roll and Cherry Blossom roll were both fresh and well put together. My favorite has to be the Scooby Doo Roll, a baked scallop roll that's rich, flavorful, and always hits the spot. Across the board, all the fish and rolls tasted fresh and high quality. On top of that, service is always quick, with food typically coming out within 10 minutes. This used to be a solid, convenient spot for sushi, but over the past few months the experience has steadily declined, and today was the final straw. We sat at the bar, the only seating available, and were not greeted, acknowledged, or given menus by any sushi chef, manager, or the four waitresses on the floor. Even after a sushi chef told the waitstaff that two people were waiting at the bar, no one came over. After about ten minutes, we decided to leave and take our time and money elsewhere. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated issue. The last two visits included incorrect orders and missing sauces on a to go order, which required us to return after checking in the car. While we once chose Maya over Wassabi or Sakura Chaya for convenience, that convenience no longer outweighs the consistent lack of attention and customer service. read more

My bf took me and our son out for some sushi. I been here one time before but it was a while ago and it was random. Finally had time to check out the menu. The employees were all friendly cus when we walked in they all turned heads and said hiii welcome! The place was nice and clean and there's even a table that has a nice background for people who love to take selfies. Very cute. Our server was also nice and helped us by answering any questions we had. We couldn't decide really and they had a lot of amazing rolls on paper. So we just went with BOAT B. It was $100 and it came with 30 sashimi. We got to pick some of the ones we wanted. And the rest we had chef pick. It also came with 8 nigiri which we also got to pick some. Deluxe Cali roll which came with eel on top. And edamame which we opted to be spicy. We also added a spicy ahi tuna seaweed salad. Everything came out fairly quick. The boat looked amazing! The seaweed salad was good! Not the best I had but still good. Edamame was just right. And the sashimi was really fresh! Nothing fishy about anything we ordered. By far my favorite sushi restaurant! I love the cozy atmosphere and the warm greetings you get right when you walk in. All the staff is so friendly! Abby was our server and she was incredible! I came here a couple weeks ago I'm just barely getting around to the review but the sushi here was delicious. i ordered the teriyaki bowl as well which was my favorite. the veggies added to the bowl felt like they melted in your mouth from how good they were and i wish they would have added more veggies into the bowl. they add lots of rice and just the right amount of teriyaki chicken. sushi was fresh and yummy. prices were reasonable on the menu. service was quick. the place was packed but they sat me down relatively quickly. the only thing is they forgot my miso soup but when I mentioned it the servers eyes lit up and she was so very kind and brought it to me shortly after. Took the opportunity to eat in this time while family was visiting from out of town. The staff was very helpful in telling us about popular sushi rolls as well as what we might like based upon our preferences. The place is clean and well organized per usual, and the chefs are always nice enough to greet guests and bid them farewell. We ordered multiple rolls again and were generally happy with our choices. We got the Sashimi Plate (24 Pcs)-- came with miso soup and a bowl of rice. The fish was chef choice, I have no idea what the different fishes were, but the white fish was absolutely delicious it was my favorite one on the sashimi plate. Everything we had was delicious. Although the salad was good but wasn't my favorite because it lacked some flavor. And the baked mussels could use more sauce. I love that they had scallops as well. Consequently, We drove across the street to Vons and picked up a 6 pack of Kirin Itchiban then returned to the restaurant. We sat at the bar/counter and ordered sushi directly from a sushi preparer. I haven't been here in a while, but coming back just brought memories of high school and... Anyways, I always loved this place. I wish I took photos of the store (I'm shy), but I'm sure the other photos will make up for it. It's really nice (esp good for a casual date) and the servers who took our party of 14 in (I'm so sorry, us Filipinos come in groups) we're very helpful and accommodating. I really love the raw sushi options here and their salmon had got to be (arguably) the best I've had in Fresno. As for the miso, idk about you but I've already accepted my fate of hypertension, and I think they had the perfect amount of seasoning to the miso.
