Ice cream - Charged us at 7:49 and I got my ice cream at 8:21, over 30 mins after everyone else had gotten theirs
Sabeen N.

Absolute terrible service and food was not that good. My friend made a reservation for 20 people at 6:00. The staff at the front told him that his entire party needs to be on time because the chef does not want to wait. We rushed and came on time, but then had to stand and wait in the lobby because there was no room. We waited until 6:20 to be seated, which was weird since we had a reservation and they emphasized that everyone needs to be on time. When we got seated for teppanyaki, the waitress sat down a random couple at our table, even though we did not even have enough seats for everyone in our party. My friend tried telling the waitress multiple times that not all of us have seats and she kept counting the seats incorrectly. We had to repeatedly explain to her that there is 20 of us and then she eventually understood. She then asked the random couple to move to the other table (which had not been served yet either and literally had plenty of open seats). I'm not sure why she didn't just move them to that table in the first place, it makes no sense. They also messed up on a lot of things and had zero coordination. The chef took a while to come out as well and they told us he'd come soon and he didn't. Some things that they messed up on: -forgot to bring a guest a fork until after the entire teppanyaki dinner was served to everyone (so he couldn't eat as his food came out even though he requested it 30 mins prior) -WE had to move extra chairs to the table bc some ppl still didn't have seats, even though the staff should have done it for us prior since we made a reservation -they never brought my friend's drink that she ordered -they didn't bring my friend's salad that she paid for -they forgot my friends extra rice -they gave me bacon in my rice when I specifically asked for no bacon -they forgot to give my friend extra bacon that he asked for -I asked them to clean the teppanyaki grill before they cook my shrimp (since I can't have other types of meat) and the chef looked like he didn't know what I was talking abt and responded with "I'll just do seafood last" and then turned away from me without even listening to anything I was saying -barely grilled the shrimp , it had no flavor and did not seem cooked -chef didnt even confirm our orders. He just looked at me, said "shrimp," and moved on when I tried to tell him abt my allergies -the chef did not even try to interact with us much. My friend is a huge Disney fan and asked if the chef could make a Mickey Mouse design w the rice and he just ignored his request completely. The chef just quietly talked to himself it seemed like and he didn't really try to make it fun -messed up dessert. They only gave half our table ice cream and then ignored the other half completely. They already charged us all for dessert and even swiped all the cards already. The waitress just quickly said "good night!" and left without asking if we needed anything else. I got up and found another waiter outside and told him I was charged for dessert and never got any. Then he said he will go get it. He never came and got it. I saw him helping another table and we made eye contact and I kinda held up my receipt to gesture it, and then he left. then our waitress from before came back and said "I heard you guys needed me?" (So there was NO actual communication between the two servers then), so I told her that we didn't get dessert yet. And then later we finally got it. NO apologies. We had waited over THIRTY minutes to get vanilla ice cream. The other table with us left completely and it was only the few of us left inside that were waiting so it was really inconvenient that we had to stay back so long and wait there for it. It was for a celebration for my friend's graduation and the whole time he was stressed out bc of everything. The staff did not apologize, they were not caring, they barely checked in, they took so long, and were completely incompetent, unprofessional, and lack coordination.

I really enjoy this place. I have never had a bad experience when I have visited. Every staff member and chef we've encountered always friendly and answer all questions asked. From casual to formal you decide how you wanna come dressed. I enjoy the sushi how my kids love watching the food being cooked in front of them. Fried rice is good especially with the spicy mayo. Definitely recommended.

This is one of my favorites for lunch! Lunch special is enough for lunch and left overs for dinner! From the soup to the salad to the huge lunch plater it is just delicious freshness and amazing flavors! Just can't go wrong. Service is perfect, friendly, and helpful when you want to try something new. Your beverage is always kept full! I could come here everyday and be perfectly happy. Til til next time!

I normally love going to Sakura Chaya, which made this last visit especially disappointing. Unfortunately, the food this time was overwhelmingly saturated with butter...to the point where that was the only flavor coming through. I couldn't taste the usual garlic, ginger, soy, or teriyaki notes that typically make their dishes so good. Everything on the plate tasted the same, just heavy and greasy. When I took my leftovers home, there was literally a pool of hardened butter sitting at the bottom of the container the next day. It made the food really hard to enjoy and impossible to "fix" later. The ambience and atmosphere is always cozy and inviting service was OK. There were times I felt like we were waiting on our server instead of them waiting on us. I'm hoping this was just an off night because I've had much better experiences here before, but this visit definitely missed the mark.

Dinner and service were EXCELLENT! They never disappoint. Price was very competitive.

First time going during lunch time, I usually go during dinner time. It was surprisingly not busy. Usually during dinner time you have to make reservations since it gets super packed. I got #17A Which is filet mignon with shrimp and an extra side of rice. Food was great. I add their spicy sauce to everything. A must try.

Came here for my aunt's birthday, it's her favorite spot, and I can see why. The food was good and the teppanyaki was entertaining. We had a large group and filled up two teppanyaki tables, and the staff was very accommodating and helpful throughout. Service was great as always, and everyone had a fun.

Celebrating my sister's birthday. Food was excellent, service attentive allowing us to take our time and enjoy our celebration. We had a lot of excitement as our chef slipped and fell on grill. Really hope he is ok! Several staff jumped in and finishing taking care of us.

The service has always been above par when we dine here. Seem to always find a new favorited dish every visit, and my new fav is the yakisoba. Love the serene vibes and food selection.

Love Japanese food?? This is the place to go!! If the place is packed then you know the food is good. The bento box with teriyaki chicken and the very juicy tonkutsu was delicious! I can honestly say that the tonkutsu( breaded pork ) was really one of the best I've tasted. It was moist and the crisp with each bite was perfect!. The tempura was crunchy and had good flavor. And the sushi??? Not only eye catching but each bite exploded with flavor. To top it all, the service was excellent!

The food here is delicious! Hands down the best teppan in Fresno! But here is why I'm only giving 3 stars.. we got there and we walked up to the hostess and let her know we had put our name down over the phone, with the rudest attitude and stankiest stank face she told us they would call us shortly. She didn't say hello, she didn't say welcome in, she didn't even look up at us.. if you're gonna be a hostess basically the first person customers interact with when they arrive at a restaurant, you should at least smile. I hate to be this kind of customer cause like I said the food is delicious here but when you dine out you'd expect friendly service from the moment you walk in. The last time we were here the same thing happened with the same girl ( the girl with ribbons all in her hair and thin eyebrows) this time I had to review.

The restaurant is beautiful, clean, and well-kept. All the staff were so nice and welcoming, from the hosts to our server. Everyone was super helpful, which made the experience even better! For starters, they brought us edamame, and then we ordered the UNI shooter. It was good, but that aftertaste wasn't my favorite. I completely forgot it was made with sake, and I'm not a fan of sake. Call me weird, right? Most people love pairing raw sushi with sake, but not me! LOL. Next, we got the salmon spoon, and OMG, the salmon was so fresh! I absolutely loved it, and that sauce on top was SO GOOD! I also ordered two nigiri pieces and a temaki roll. The otoro was incredibly soft and fresh; it practically melted in my mouth! The uni was also super fresh and didn't taste fishy at all, which I loved. I was really hoping to try the sweet shrimp, but unfortunately, they didn't have any that day. Lastly, we tried the uni pasta. It was just okay for me. It had a slightly fishy taste that didn't sit too well with my palate. Overall, I had a great experience! Not every dish was a personal favorite, but the service, atmosphere, and freshness of the sushi definitely stood out. I would absolutely come back whenever I'm in town again!

The Katana Roll had shrimp tempura, crab salad and avocado, topped with salmon, sliced onion, spicy mayo, sriracha, tobiko and scallions. I loved the combination of the fresh salmon with the crunch from the shrimp tempura, and the spicy mayo gave it just the right kick. The Maiko Roll was definitely the indulgent one. It's a fried California roll with cream cheese, topped with chopped shrimp tempura and spicy crab salad, then finished with teriyaki sauce. Crispy, creamy, sweet, savory and seriously filling. They definitely don't skimp on the toppings here! Everything came out looking great, the portions were generous, and both rolls hit the spot. We ordered from main and happy hour menus, and we enjoyed the sashimi and sushi roll (wrapped in cucumber). What we wished we had more of was the ahi tuna on top of the Namikaze Nachos. The wonton chips and the rest of the toppings were great, but the lack of ahi tuna, which was the best part, changed the entire dish for us.
