Updating from the last time I've came here I think it's been a couple years.. I'm acting surprised that they're still here, meaning that their business is doing good. So that also means the food must have gotten better. Place still looks the same inside from what I remember. Same set up like a diner style feel. Service is fast and friendly. Finally made the decision to try it again. We ordered the special roll which looked and tasted really good. Usually my daughter will omit all the sauces drizzled on there but I was in shocked when she murdered half the roll and not complain about it! Food was good. Spent $55 for 2 dinner specials including tip. Was taking our food to go and asked for an extra sauce and was told I needed to pay and extra $1.00 plus tax for the one sauce in a small little cup. I asked if I really had to charge my card $1 for a sauce and he said it would be $1.08. I wasn't trying to run my card for that. You'd think after I spent that much for two meals one little sauce wouldn't be a big deal. But apparently so. So unfortunately I wouldn't come back. The floors inside were pretty sticky which made me a bit upset since my shoes started sticking outside the restaurant... It didn't take long for me to get the food, I would say a good 10-15 minutes. The food portions are huge for the affordable price and it tastes just as great as if you were to get it at an actual teppanyaki restaurant. The California roll was basic, nothing too great. And the seaweed salad was good, I really loved how fresh the salmon and tuna cubes were. I definitely recommend trying this place out, especially during lunch time. Quite honestly I usually have enough for two meals. Their plates come with fried rice, salad or sautéed carrots, and your choice of protein. I typically always get bacon fried rice, a salad, and scallops. The scallops are always perfectly cooked too. I also always get the shrimp tempura sushi roll. Another thing I love about sushiyaki is that they are so quick. You call in your order and it will be ready in 20 minutes. You don't have to sit and watch a whole show just to enjoy your food. I've tried this place a couple of times and it is clearly very popular and the wait times could be up to 30-40 minutes some time. However, the chicken and steak teriyaki is not really teriyaki at all. It has very little flavor to it so although the meat is tender like teppanyaki should be, without the sauce to dip it in it wouldn't be very great at all. I guess I just have trouble finishing food where everything tasted a bit bland. It says a lot that my sale with cucumber sauce had more flavor than the meat or the bacon fried rice, which kind of just tasted like rice and oil. I guess I'm surprised with the taste of the food and the ratings this place has, but I'm glad it does well for itself regardless - it's just not for me. I'm thinking maybe this is the place you should eat at so the food is hot and fresh when you get it. But with the wait times I'm not sure if it's a possibility for me unfortunately. read more

After searching Yelp for ideas this restaurant was in the perfect location and the menu was easy to navigate through, besides I normally always ask the help for suggestions. I ordered the California Roll and the Special Roll both were made fresh and I actually didn't mind waiting for my order. I was taking it back to the studio so being packed in a convenient carryout bag I headed back to my project, upon opening the container I noticed the sauce, ginger and wasabi. (I smiled) With plastic fork in hand and California Roll on the tines, I began a mouth watering trip into the east, with each bite the journey towards full-tummy land was in sight, regaining my composure after the initial bite my attention was given to the next step...delicious and delicate was the Special Roll full of flavor and texture. With weakened knees I had to sit down as I continued to enjoy this exquisite cuisine, the ginger and wasabi enabled me to distinguish between the two as I switched between Rolls, with a tongue swirl of water after each morsel every bite seemed new to me. Thanks to the gift card we received, I was able to try this place out. We ordered teppanyaki - special dinner that comes with bacon fried rice, shrimp, New York steak, and chicken. We also ordered side of chicken wings. Food was okay but honestly I was disappointed. The special dinner had too much rice and barely any bacon. There was nothing special about the rice. It tasted like soy sauce rice that anyone can make at home. Also there weren't much veggies as we would like. The chicken wings were flavorless. It did not come with any dipping sauce.
