Do not book this airline. If I could give zero starts I would. Any issue they cannot resolve. They cancel and reschedule a flight that you cannot make the connection. Terrible, terrible, terrible. I used to complain about United but this crappy airline makes Spirit look like a luxury airline. Customer service is a joke, the people answering the calls can barely speak English and they charge for everything eventhough is their computer systems fault. I asked to speak to a maner and the answer I got was "no". I asked if they did not have managers or supervisors and the answer was "no" but later the answer changed to "they are not available". DO NOT FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE. Save your money and your time, there are better options out there. I think this crappy airline will file for bankruptcy soon. I would like to share my experience with #Icelandair. My wife had booked a flight to Paris for my birthday. She had saved for two years in order to do this and had booked a year in advance. She also booked extra legroom because I've had back and leg surgeries. Because of this, I usually don't fly without extra legroom. From Denver we were scheduled to connect to Paris in Iceland with a total travel time of 12 hours. A couple months before the flight, Icelandair had sent her an unassuming email stating that the connection times had changed. We only found out the day before the trip that the flight to Iceland would arrive AFTER the connection to Paris departed. We assumed that the flight to Paris would be fine but we assumed wrong. Even though my wife had booked the entire trip through Icelandair it was apparently her job to work out the connection times and create a new itinerary for Paris. I've been in this situation with other airlines before and it doesn't play out like this. That night my wife talked with an agent for hours trying to get us rebooked but unfortunately they couldn't (or wouldn't) get us to Paris on time. I say "wouldn't" because I believe, based on the conversation, that there were first/business seats available but not for us. So unfortunately instead of us keeping our original itinerary for a 12hr flight to Paris on Saturday turned into a 20hr flight on Monday. Also, you did not give us extra legroom on any of the flights there or back. When we returned, you had not refunded the money that my wife had paid for the extra legroom. Also, she had additional charges from Icelandair on her credit card. There was no email or explanation of what these charges were for and were only erased after speaking with a customer service rep and even then were not explained. After my wife had emailed and complained about our experience all you offered was to refund the extra legroom seats that you took away from us and the random charges on her credit card - which have yet to be refunded. The email response she received stated "We can only apologize for the inconvenience...". You didn't even an offer of a voucher to compensate for our experience. We wouldn't have booked this flight if we knew we wouldn't receive extra legroom, or depart days later, or adding 8 hours to the flight time, or the unhelpful customer service. I also see that you visited her website, not once, but twice after email correspondence. I can only assume that this was because you wanted to see if she was an influencer or had any social media cred. I wonder why? This was our experience. read more

They did an okay job. The airfare was cheap but I had to pay for an in flight meal. I thought on international flights that they would be included. Not to mention that one of my bags made it to my destination and one did not. It put me in a bind because I had to buy more clothes to hold me over for two days. I am big fan of Icelandair after my recent experience and will definitely be flying them again. Husband and I flew DEN-KEF-CPH mid February. We stayed in Iceland and Copenhagen for four days each and it only cost us $600 round trip per person. We are both 6'4" and found legroom in their regular economy class seats to be better than what we get on domestic flights in the US. I can't complain with a 757-200 aircraft and a 32" pitch. I've had worse seats on Lufthansa and British Airways.....just saying. Legroom alone is why I will fly Icelandair again. The flight times were convenient both ways. We were also quite pleased with the food selection on board. We had the ham and cheese sandwich as well as the curry chicken dish and a few other snack items. . Both were quite tasty. Yes, you have to pay for your food. But for what we paid in airfare, we weren't going to complain about paying for food. As for the rumors of them only going down the aisle once for food and drinks.....they go down for food once but are offering hydration frequently throughout the flight. Flight entertainment is also pretty good for the size of the airline. You have free movies, television, as well as a selection of videos highlighting Icelandic history, geology, and tourist activities. Extra bonus is that you can purchase FLYBUS tickets on the place before you land. Wifi was available on 3 of our 4 flight segments for $7.99. The ONLY complaint I have is their boarding process. It seems as if they don't have one. So if you fly them, make sure you're close by for b regular oarding or any other changes in the boarding process at least 30 minutes before. From Denver, they started with the Saga class seating but then everyone just rushed forward and the agent did NOT stop non Saga members from getting on. This made it difficult for others to board. If anything, they should start boarding from the back of the aircraft like airlines USED to do back in the day. I was also impressed with their ability to help with connecting flights and delays. They held several flights for connecting passengers in Keflavik due to our late departure. They also made sure our bags made it on our connecting flight to Denver after a brief baggage handling strike in Copenhagen the day of our trip back that turned our 90 minute layover into a quick 15 minute layover. They literally came down into the plan just to tell us that our bags made it on the plane after I had verbalized my concern to the gate agent. Definitely not overlooking this airline the next time I consider flights to Europe. read more

Icelandair made it possible for The Mr to tick a Bucket List item as done with a direct flight out of Denver at a reasonable price. We purchased a package from IcelandAir which had us arriving early on a Saturday AM and leaving the following Tues early eve. The airplane was nicely appointed and the staff was helpful. Our decision to take the night flight was so that we could sleep the 6+ hours and then wake up at landing, ready to take on the day w/ activities. The plane was incredibly hot, though, and we were not able to sleep, defeating the purpose of choosing a night flight. So we pissed most of that first day away catching up on sleep. The day flight back in the day was equally as warm, so perhaps this is a norm. We stayed at Natura, the Icelandair hotel near the local airport. It is a decent walk into town (15-20 mins); if it is windy (which is often is), use a bus pass from the hotel front desk w/ a deposit. The bus is an easy ride. The hotel was nicely appointed and the restaurant/bar is a surprise - well thought out and good quality. The rooms are akin to Motel-6, gussied up w/ some wood siding a la Ikea....nothing wrong w/ that, we weren't spending all of our time there anyway. Our glacier tour was canceled for bad weather, a disappointment. supposedly this is not uncommon. We rented a car and drove out to the Northeast and Pingveller, etc. I could not compare the car experience to the tour - since we did not have the tour - but the car trip was nice and touring the countryside at our leisure was fun. The Icelandair tour/travel contact resides in the gift shop at Natura. She was good at neither gift sales nor tour information. She failed to inform us that the bus to pick us up was actually a shuttle, not a bus as it had been when we were dropped off. Shuttles come & go constantly w/ a few buses in between. Our 1:00 shuttle passed us by for pick-up to go to the airport because we were looking for a bus. Also, while attempting to purchase an item on display in the gift shop, I had to wait through a long-winded conversation between herself and what appeared to be an acquaintance in order to pay her for the item. Even when the conversation was over, I had to engage her attention first...it's not like we were in a large area and a lot of people...the shop is the size of a large walk-in closet and I was the only person standing there. Descriptions by locals of how to get somewhere are very literal and remind me of how my grandmother gave directions in the country..."straight down the road, right at the cow barn, left at the white house". Also, "house" is any building. Straight means straight - we were given walking instructions by the front desk to the mall as "just go straight" ... they were right, but very literal. Straight would have gotten us there but we also would have had to walk through resident back yards, apartment complexes, etc. We found it funny, but also learned to clarify that we wish to stay on sidewalks or paths. Iceland is beautiful - I would recommend the trip overall. The airline could be a better experience and be sure you clarify travel instructions & directions as much as possible. read more

Terrible customer service and cramped seats. Do not purchase a package because they will not assist you in changing flights. I was willing to forgo my scheduled return trip to Denver and pay for a full price, one way ticket (on top of the money I had already paid for the round trip ticket) to see the Northern Lights. IcelandAir would not allow me to book a stand alone ticket because I already had a return flight. I was willing to pay an additional $800 for the one way ticket, but they refused to ticket me. They are impossible to deal with. On another note, they required elderly folks to stand for an extended period of time and then gave these folks attitude when they were asked when the boarding process would begin. read more

I don't normally write reviews for things. But what occurred was absolutely unacceptable. I called to talk about my ticket. The customer service rep that I spoke with was unbelievably rude. When I requested to speak with a supervisor, I was told "No". Then he told me he had no supervisor, which I find very hard to believe. As far as I'm concerned this Airline is a scam! read more

Worst airline to fly international on and as a pilot for a not great airline I know what I'm talking about! 1st no notification that my passport won't work even though it's valid - it's just not valid enough. That's easy to fix with a flag when you put in your expiration date- denied boarding. 2nd - uncomfortable seats, 3rd haughty snooty crappy flight attendants, 4th - 7 hr flight but you have to pay for food. Last but best of all -they lose your bags then won't deliver them and won't respond to emails or answer their phone so no way to tell them where you are past day 3. You people are absolutely terrible. Refused to help my sister to get to Scotland for her WEDDING by refusing to let her on the flight because her passport was within 3 months of expiring. You took her 270$ for checking luggage and then immediately gave the luggage back and informed her she couldn't get in the flight and that she would NOT be getting a refund for the luggage. Then you refused to rebook her and said she would have to pay for a new flight. I have never encountered such horrendous customer service in my life. You should be ashamed! read more

I'm glad Iceland Air came to Denver as it's adding more affordable options for travelling between Denver and the EU. I flew with them last summer DEN -KEF -MUC The flight was fine, on time and made the connection with no problems. A little cramped and noisy for an overnight flight but I wouldn't mind booking with them again. I don't believe they offer you free food. It's all for purchase even for a 7 plus hour flight so be prepared with snacks or ready to purchase snack boxes. read more

I booked my flight online 6 months in advance and shortly after booking I noticed I must of hit the key twice when spelling out my daughters first name. I had to call reservations to fix it and they charged me $30 US dollars to delete one letter. That's poor customer service in my opinion. read more

I booked my flight on justly.com and it was with icelandair I called a week before for the trip because my email said something changed and they said it was canceled and I needed to call justfly.com and they will rebook me for the 16 instead of the 18 because that is the other one I could take they were kind and helpful I called just fly and they were awful told me the only thing they could do is cancel my flight and give me a refund I was on the phone all morning and they just kept stating the policies so I called icelandair told them what was happening with justfly and she handled it all in about 10 minutes and rebooked me apoligized for the rough time I had with justfly read more

This is a horrible airline I paid for baggage before I left for my trip from Helsinki to Denver international and when I got to the airport the service managers told me that I had no baggage clearance. Reference: Flight 671, September 7th 2017 KEF to DEN. I booked the flight several months in advance as was led to believe that I had a choice of a seat assignment. My seat was an Economy Comfort section. The reasons I chose the Economy Comfort section was, I could have more legroom, two bags checked, a meal, and a choice of my seat if available at the time of purchase. My electronic ticket showed seat 6C on each leg of the ticket. Everything was good from Denver to Reykjavik and then to Trondheim with a short stop at Bergen. On the return home I checked in at the SAS desk at Trondheim as they were the one handling Icelandair. I was given a boarding pass to Reykjavik and then on to Denver. I noticed that the seat assignment from Reykjavik to Denver was 6F. When I asked about the change in the seat assignment I was told to check when I arrive in Iceland. I inquired about this in Reykjavik as was told it was still the Economy Comfort section. Upon boarding I found that on a B757 seat 6F does not recline due to being in front of the emergency exit. Having a bad back and surgeries to fix it the thought of 7 and a half hours of agony was not something I wanted. I inquired if I could upgrade to the Sega class and was told that was not possible. I was willing to pay the difference and was also told that could not be done. There were two people in the Sega class. I paid over $2,000.00 for my ticket. Not only did they lose some extra revenue, but a customer. I chose Icelandair because a friend of mine said to try it as I could have a week stay in Iceland which is what I did. After arriving home I checked my e-mail on my computer and found that when I was in Lauvsnes they changed the seat and if there was an available seat in the same section they would change it. Too late as I was home. Seat 6C was given to 1/2 of a couple. I do not have a smart phone because I have found they are not needed and I did not take my laptop with me. If you book a flight on a B757 and they assign you seat 6F, chose another flight or a different airline. BA to London and SAS to Norway is a little longer, but never had a problem. read more

We recently flew on Icelandair from DEN-KEF-OSL and loved everything! We flew Saga Class which is Icelandair's version of business class. Mind you, this is not the same business class you get on most International airlines (British Airways Club World, Virgin Atlantic Upper Class, Lufthansa business class etc..) The seats are more like the US First Class domestic seats (wide leather seats with a 21.5 inch width, 40 inch seat pitch). The seats have a limited recline but do have foot rests so they were very comfortable and for the price were well worth it (the seats do not fold flat to a bed). When flying out of Denver, Saga passengers get to use the United Airlines lounge. The lounge was pretty awesome and had a pretty basic menu (Soups, sandwiches, crackers and cheese M&M's candies and other candies. Certain wines and beers were complimentary. The boarding process was very easy and Saga Club passengers were called first to board (I was the first person on the plane). Our plane was somewhat old as it did not have the new tv monitors (each person in Saga class gets their own tv monitor on the back of the seat of the seat in front of them). We were each given a glass of sparkling wine and took off shortly after. The service on board was pretty good. The flight attendant who helped us was very sweet and really appreciated when I spoke some basic Icelandic words to her (thank you, hi etc...). Most Icelanders speak very good English, but always appreciate when you try to speak some Icelandic to them out of courtesy. The food was delicious on board and drinks including alcohol were free (this may be different in Economy and Economy Comfort). The flight from Denver to Iceland is only 6 1/2 hours long. We received a cool amenity kit and duvet blanket and pillow. I would strongly take advantage of the free stopover Icelandair provides. We stayed in Iceland for 5 days and loved every minute of it. It is my favorite country in the world now! Just an FYI, the plane lands at Keflavik International Airport which is about a 50 minute bus ride from Reykjavik City. I strongly recommend taking the Fly Bus to Reykjavik. The buses run every 20-25 minutes and the price was not bad. All in all, I love Icelandair. My only issue was my father in laws tv monitor did not work, and even after the Flight Attendant reset it, it still did not work. My partner had this issue on the way from Iceland back to Denver but luckily was tired and slept most of the flight. read more

II have had my first and last Icelandair flight. I booked flight to Switzerland in March. Denver to Iceland, then to Zurich. Price reasonable. Their website it not helpful. And when I called to speak to a person, I waited 20 minutes for a person, only to hear recording that I was number 35 to talk to an operator. However, the big selling point was duration of flight -- short, best around. I knew it was no frills flight. Trip over was ok. But when I showed up in Zurich for my flight back I learned they had bumped me off the Icelandair flight, which was a total of 10 hrs duration, to another flight that was 14 hours, with a 2.5 hour connect time in Miami. They said they sent an email earlier in June, but I didn't get an email. Nor did my spam folder. How do I buy a ticket in March, then 3 months later they oversell the flight and bump me off?? Greedy, greedy. Poor business practice. Poor customer service. read more
