I travel quite a bit and recently had a trip to London for work. My return flight was booked on American but somehow was serviced by British Airways. I arrived at Heathrow hours early as I shared a cab with a coworker and his flight was much earlier. I could not check in on the app or on the website in the day prior, so I stood in line for close to an hour at the American window where they told me I was actually flying BA (my travel record showed American) and I needed to go to another terminal. I got to that terminal and tried to get in line to check in but BA employee said I needed to use the kiosk. I explained I was unable to check in on apps or online and needed an agent. They insisted I try the kiosk first. Unsurprisingly.. it didn't work. I was allowed to get in the check in line with an agent where I stood for the next almost 2 hours. Yes, 2 hours standing on a concrete floor. My back was screaming (old people problems, I know). I finally got up to an agent who said I wasn't able to check in because I needed to show my visa. I pulled up my British electronic visa and she said "no love, your American visa".. while holding my American passport in her hand. I explained I don't need a visa because I am an American returning to my home country. She looked confused but decided she needed to call someone to help. I stood while she was on hold and transferred around to different places who eventually told her it was an issue in the system today and they would remove the error. She then told me I had no seat on the flight because it was oversold and they couldn't guarantee I would get on, so they may have to book my on the next flight which was the next day or would need to look at another airline for me. She gave me a boarding pass that was or standby and said to hurry to the gate to try and get a seat. I got in the security line and about 15 minutes later, I was up.. I scanned my boarding pass and it errored out, not letting me through. An employee told me I had to get in a different line to see what was wrong with my boarding pass. I stood in anther line for a good 40 minutes. Once I got help, they told me I couldn't get through because I don't have a seat and would have to fly standby. I explained, yes.. that's why I have a standby boarding pass. It says standby on it. She said it wasn't standby in the system and it needed to be fixed, so she had to call someone to assist. Another 15 minutes later and they couldn't get it to work and I was going to miss the flight, she said she would take me through a different security line so I could get to the gate. She did that and I had to take a train to get to the gate, which wasn't working for about 5 minutes because it was having a "security sweep" with officers and dogs going through it. I finally got on the train, got off at the right place, ran all the way to the gate as they were boarding. Asked if they had a seat for me, and they huffily said they did but I almost didn't because I waited so long to get to the gate. Are you kidding me? I got on the plane and will be happy to never fly British Airlines again. I guess all the great luck I've had traveling was made up for on this trip. Just terrible. read more

So I took British Air Ways from Denver to London and I had a good time! The movies were user friendly I found what I needed! I got a free bloody Mary they made for me! I ordered the salmon and it tasted good! They seated me by some adults and not by crying baby that has not popped their ear drums because of the pressure! After the movie I slept for the rest of the trip and it was a 9 hours! Do I recommend it! I do! read more

I have always heard good things about traveling with British Airways - until my own personal experience. In July 2022, my husband and I booked round trip flights from Denver to London for April 2023 in hopes of attending a once in a lifetime celebration/conference. We were beyond excited. In August 2022, we were shocked to find out we were expecting our first child. Upon finding this out, I began my work with British Airways in seeking a refund. It is now December 2022, and I have been given the runaround a number of times, traveled to talk to someone in Denver (a 3 hour round trip drive which I did three times,) I've called countless times, talked to my insurance for the tickets, AND have had many interactions online with them. After 3 months of British Airways giving me the runaround, they told me to provide a doctors note with all the details of my pregnancy and why we cannot travel with a newborn. I gladly provided this and AM still being told that there is nothing that they can do. At this point, I'm taking all advice. I am at a loss. These tickets were almost $2k. With an unpaid maternity leave quickly approaching and a HIGH deductible insurance plan - I just don't know. I have cried myself to sleep over this and their lack of empathy and kindness. I cannot believe that even with a doctors explanation - they won't even provide a credit to reschedule OR ANYTHING. The insurance and my credit card have said we have to talk to British Airways and when you call, I'm told that their representatives are too busy to help. I cannot believe that they are not willing to do anything to help me. I am so distraught and disappointed in them. I had only heard good things - and yet we are treated with ZERO customer services and just told "sorry to disappoint you" - disappointment doesn't help my medical bills and expenses to start a family. read more

Our first experience with BA wasn't great. For one thing, the legroom and space of their economy seat on an international flight was surprisingly small! It's about 1/3 smaller than the US economy seat. If you are claustrophobic, don't do the basic economy! The flight attendant in our section was useless. He just stood there and watch while we were struggling with placing our luggage in the very high overhead bin. Someone passed out on the floor during our 9 hours flight and it took a while for the flight attendant to get back to his area of responsibility and he didn't seem to know what to do. This maybe the last time flying on BA for us. read more

22SEP2018 Our flight BA218 to London was very good. Excellent service from the stews. Business class makes life so much better. The seats lie flat so you can really sleep. The food and wines were tasty. Except for the Avocado and Manchego cheese sandwich which was horrible. Our flight BA468 from LHR to Bilbao was less good. BA's intra-Europe business class is a joke. The use regular cramped coach seats, but leave the middle one empty. Not what I expected for the money we paid. $7600 for 2 business class tickets DEN-BIO and BCN-DEN read more

The worst experience I have ever had with an airline. Let's begin. Arrived at the airport in Barcelona and could not find British Airways, an older woman directed us to a hidden corner which was BA. Waited in line forever and when we got to the agent she began to tell us we were at the wrong carrier. She was telling us we needed to be at American Airlines, which I might add was the beginning leg for Denver to Barcelona. Well she figured that out. When we asked what gate to go to she told us they will announce it 45 minuets before departure. Well after waiting for 3 hours nothing. we were, and many others were frantically looking for the gate to London. We found it just before takeoff. We arrived at London airport early so the pilot said, but one catch, they would not let us off the plane because the ground crew had to unload our bags to the next flight to Denver. Long story short they lost all three of our bags!!! I don't think our bags ever left Barcelona. Never fly them again!!!!!! read more

Denver to London Excellent, London to Dublin Just Okay By the time I boarded British Airways in Denver for my flight #218 to Dublin via London, I had already been traveling 14 plus hours. The onboard flight on the 10-hour leg to London was marvelous, a 5 STAR experience. The crew was absolutely fantastic, the food and entertainment were terrific, and the First Class comfort helped ease my aching body. (Thank you BA flight crew) Unfortunately, the trouble began on the tarmac at Heathrow where our flight was delayed to dock. I then had to offload to go through immigration in London even though my destination was Ireland. There could be no ruder people in the world than those that work at Heathrow. I was told multiple times that my Dublin flight had already departed but I could see on my phone that the flight was delayed so I rushed to get to the gate. Sweating and out of breath, I made the London to Dublin 1.5 hour flight. Business class on this flight was similar to coach with a bit of extra room between passengers. Not worth the extra fare price for such a short flight. In Dublin, I waited for my luggage until it was obvious it wasn't arriving. After filling out the lost luggage forms, I was told by the service agent that my luggage was found in Heathrow and it would be on the next flight within three hours so they did not authorize me to buy any necessities. Two days later my luggage arrived...damaged. I had been wearing the same clothing since departing the United States for multiple important events and meetings. Despite numerous requests for minimal restitution, British Airways didn't issue any compensation for either the damaged luggage or the inconvenience citing the Montreal Agreement. I so wanted to give British 5 STARS for the lovely flight to London, but the experience from London to Dublin and the lack of customer service for my loss only allows for a 3-star rating. I had paid extra to fly on British because of past positive flight experiences with them. The lesson I learned was this: If your luggage is lost, no matter what you are told by the service representative, go SHOPPING to get what you need until your luggage is found. Keep the receipts. Reimbursement only transpires if you shop and show receipts. One final note of warning, stay away from landing at Heathrow at all costs! It is a nightmare airport. read more

If you want to be treated like royalty, fly British Airways. Two levels with a team of professionals, who wait on you hand and foot, who offer you all types of teas with jellied scones (cream for dipping) while watching English Cinema: and being commanded by an experienced and excellent pilot from the Royal Airforce; is the only way to travel. My daughter flew from England, and was impressed by the orderly and clean airport, as well as the international flight that stuck an 'Awesome' chord in her memory. Personally, I was struck when the pilot and crew passed by me. Meeshpacha! (family) my brain silently screamed, when the pilot pivoted, and I saw his face. Three brothers from my father's side left Poland at the turn of the 20th century, and moved to Scotland; and nobody heard from them again. Until Now! The resemblance was uncanny, from his physique to his facial bones, curly strawberry blond hair to his stance. I am sure most pilots from British Airways have served in the royal air force, but this pilot seemed highly experienced, with a touch of Royalty, and I thought for sure he could command a large craft and be in total command anytime and anywhere. I heard how he navigated in dangerous winds across the plains; arriving in record time of 9 hours with a smooth landing. I heard how he calmly spoke to his passengers during the frightening moments of turbulence, all the while navigating his craft while instructing his crew members calmly. Now even if I am blindfolded, I can pick up family members with my eyes closed. It's part of my hippie vibe. I sensed family was near but it was a different electricity from my daughter. I thought it was too early for the passengers to have reached the terminal. And then as the prickling feeling ran up my neck, and the crew walked out, my zing- a- ding spirit recognized my cousin. Bingo I thought! How amazing that my cousin flew my daughter home, and so expertly and safely so. Thank you British Airways! You're the best! read more

What a airline let's see A. You pay extra money to sit with your friends on your very long journey B. You all get seats assigned no where near each other so you call British Airways who proceeds to tell you they will take care of it at the airport C. You get to the airport and the staff is less hen helpful and tells you to call the 800 # to which you ask to talk to the supervisor who is maybe 20 and tells you he is powerless like you didn't already know that D. He proceeds to give you a voucher for your troubles to get a drink in the lounge (HOWEVER DOES NOT GIVE YOU ACCESS TO THE LOUNGE) Now about to call British Airlines again and try to get my extra fee back like this is going to happen. I would have rather flown United where I know they are going to be rude and miss treat me read more

The wife and I each had AA miles on on our credit cards. They were enough for each of us to purchase a one way business class to LHR and then to Dublin. The actual flight is to be on British Airways thru an American code share arrangement. We were going to spend a month in Ireland and then go home on Iceland Airways through Iceland with a 4 day layover in Reykeyavitch We had Several problems with trying to finalize the booking and seat assignments. First. Since the miles for the flight reservations were coming from two separate accounts the reservations could not be made together. Apparently we both had to to go online on separate computers and press the button simultaneously so that we could hopefully book at the same time and be on the same flight Or for $40 per person we could pay the AA telephone representative to make the reservation for the both of us. We paid the money but even after paying the money our records were not combined we were on the flight but not on a combined reservation. The $40 fee is on top of airline and security fees that total $550 Second. In order to get a seat assignment we have to contact British Air directly. We still are listed under two separate reservation codes, not combined. After contacting British Air I go through the flight reservations and try to combine both under 1 reservation number. Not Possible. Third. Next step is to try get our seat assignments together. They can do that but for a price of $130 per person. WTF!! We are on a business class ticket and they want to charge $130 per person in order to get assigned seats. Our option is to wait until 24 hours before departure, and go online and try to get adjoining seats or pay $130 per person now I recognize that we are paying for the ticket using miles and not full business class fare. But what is the difference. Our free business class trip using miles now costs $720 per person for a one way business class ticket. As a comparison I went online and found a economy ticket online for $335 total all in cost 1 way. If it wasn't such a long trip I'd cancel and go economy I think what ticks me off most is that they still cannot combine our reservations under one booking. Both American and British Air are the pits as far as I am concerned read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Flight #218 (Denver-London) has been stuck on the runway for 4 hours. The only explanation given is that they are checking one of the engines... for 4 HOURS NOW!?!?. If it's not clear why don't you cancel the flight and let everybody out??. Flight attendants are saying that "don't you think I would like to get off too?" Well, you didn't pay close to $2,000 for this freaking joke, you actually get paid to be on the plane. British Airways. Please, get is together. read more

I am writing a quick review because I can only say good things about British Airways right now. After several attempts over two years ago, I was unable to get a response from BA regarding miles that expired. Well two years later while booking a flight on BA I thought I would try again. They reinstated my miles for a 90 period in which time I have to do something (earn miles, use miles, buy miles etc). Well I booked a trip so it should all be good. Thank you BA!! I will post a review of my travel experience at the end of December! read more

Direct flight to London? Yes please! At 10 hours it is still a long flight, but somehow more bearable than the 12 to Frankfurt (or longer should you have a connecting flight, god forbid). I flew in World Traveler Plus, which I would say is worth the incremental cost except that I was flying on business so don't really know what that incremental cost is. The flight attendants were friendly and helpful (almost jarringly so, from the perspective of one who has flown too much on United) though as a shortie there was almost too much room -- my feet couldn't reach the footrests on the seat in front of me, but it wasn't so disastrous since my seat had a leg rest I could put up so my feet weren't just dangling. I even enjoyed the on-flight meals (though full disclosure -- I always order vegetarian meals because I am afraid of mystery meat) and being able to get a nice single malt during beverage service. Departing at not quite 9 PM and arriving in London around noon also made for relatively easy jet lag adjustment, I found. A great way to get to Europe. read more

I would give the flying out of Denver to London on BA a go. It was comfy, boarding was fast, the flight at 10 hours wasn't too bad. I know some of you think that's a long time, but the stewardesses were great. Food was good for travel. Price- cheap for me, at $850 round trip. Give it a go. read more

I bought ticket from Denver to Madrid. And it was operated by aa. But IT WAS NOT SAID In the confirmation email they sent me. And there was NO ONE at the counter. So I waited in front of the counter for 30mins and finally some told me I need to go to aa counter. After I walked to aa counter, it was only 40mins before departure. I missed checkin time and the flight. It's ridiculous that I needed to check in with another airline but they didn't inform me. And according to a nice airport staff who works near BA counter NO ONE WAS AT BA COUNTER today from 5am to now(2pm) . What's your counter for?? read more

No one was at the check in counter all day until 2pm. I tried to call custom service, but who answered the phone was rude and said "you can write complain letter to the CEO or whatever" read more

Their online reservations technical support and customer service is as bad as it gets! I tried to book a last minute deal from Denver to Barcelona on their website. After 15 minutes worth of entering data, including my credit card information, and then hitting submit, the website threw out an "errors" message at the end, and basically said "start over". no reason why...nothing. two more failed attempts and I called customer service / reservations. Two different people (both in high volume call centers located in India, btw) got the same errors and said they had no idea what was wrong and needed to investigate...would call me back in 15 minutes. Both never did! 4 hours of wasted time when it was all said and done. They couldn't book my flight no matter what form of payment or amount offered. I've flown BA many times before and the crews on the plane were all very helpful and professional. But, thanks to this experience i had with their online and call center staff, i will NEVER fly this airline again. Worst customer experience i've ever had, bar none! read more

We were told upon check in at the BA counter that the flight was oversold and that our family would not be allowed to travel. We had confirmed seats. We arrived to our destination 2 days late, after hours spent at the desk to rebook. Upon checking in to travel back home- our reservation had been dropped since we had so much trouble getting out in the beginning (per the agent). Our seats to and from our destination were dropped, again we had confirmed seats on both flights. Worst part about this, after filing a compliant on the BA website, not one representative has responded. read more

I got a ticket from British airlines, and i just wanted to change the date and they asked me $800 to change it. I recommend no one uses it. I hate British airlines. read more

To begin, our Flight was over 2 hours delayed. We had a trip to Europe with our 12 month old baby in a car seat that it's aircraft certified. We bought her own seat because of the long fly we wanted to make sure she was able to nap in her seat as needed. When checking in our bags, her seat was checked for the certification to make sure she can fly in and per a supervisor it was a "GO." Once on the craft one of the flight attendants told us we could not have her car seat and she would have to go in our lap. Then a different flight attendant told us it was okay that she had to be strapped down with the car seat belt and also with the airplane belt which was not problem at all. After a couple of hours in the air a different flight attendant told us that she could not be in her car seat that she had to be strapped in with us. This was ridiculous, we spend the money on her seat for the RT and was told so many different trips throughout the 9 hour fight by the fight attendants and they made it so hard for us and our baby. read more

I have booked 4 segments with British Airways. I was able to book seats for segment 1 since it was 24 hours before our flight, but I will be in the air and can not book segment 2 24 hours before the flight, so I paid for seats with extra legroom using my credit card. Then I decided to go into the rest of the segments and book seats on the longest return segment. I selected the exit row for a fee of $53 which I was willing to pay so I wouldn't have to hassle with seats later, entered my credit card info and the system said there was some problem. This was with the same card that I just used to pay for segment 2 seats. So I tried it again and used a different credit card only to get the same error. Then I called BA and got disconnected from the first Customer Service agent. The second time I called the person suggested that I contact my bank. Since I used two different cards my suspicion was that something in their system was blocking my paying for the seats, but I was insulted and upset with her answer. the next person transferred me to a third person who informed me that exit rows can only be paid for 14 days in advance of the flight. Well, why doesnt the error message say that - or better yet...why list a price for a seat that can not be bought?!!! Ridiculous. I am just so unhappy with this interaction and customer service. read more
