i-Tea is now my new favorite boba place. I am glad to have found a spot near to where I work.
For one thing, as someone who's usually rushing and on schedule, I couldn't help but notice how consistently FAST they were. I sat down and ate with a friend, and we were there for 45 minutes during the dinner rush. Because of that, I saw how they dealt with large, fluctuating crowds and multiple kinds of orders (which is to say that I had multiple orders in one visit).
Drinks are dealt by the team in the front, and they arrive the fastest at anywhere between 3 to 8 minutes. Food (both to-go and in-store) are cooked by the kitchen in the back. Because I was on the clock at the time, I saw that my first order of popcorn chicken and ramen were done in almost 15 minutes (give or take 25 seconds). My second order of the tofu and curly fries to go were done in EXACTLY 15 minutes.
They're actually pretty small and tucked away. The lines tend to be long, the place is popular and often crowded (especially during lunch and dinner rushes), according to what the cashier lady told me. I know that while I was there with my friend, we ended up sharing a four-person table with another pair simply because there wasn't any other room.
Warning though, their menu is a bit all over the place. And by that, I mean they're PHYSICALLY all over the place. You'll have one part of the menu you can look at that's on the wall immediately left of where you walk in. That same menu is taped flat on the counter where you order and pay. Those one will present a lot of the drinks and the snack foods (ex. popcorn chicken, egg tofu, curly fries, calamari, etc.). Additionally, the glowing display overhead will show some additional drinks, including the Hokkaido milk tea. There's a third list of drinks on the little plastic stand on the counter near the cashier with little pictures (I feel this one might deal with fruity drinks). Finally, there's a television screen across from the door that slideshows through what I've labeled as "meal options" (ex. Curry Chicken Steak Don).
Ramen is only available for if you're eating there. They currently don't have the option to order it to go. Not sure if the same applies for dons, but they're all pretty good-sized portions and come with on a small tray. It's actually quite cute. And even when you're ordering for there, if you also order snack food, it'll still come in a to-go box. Speaking of the snack foods...LOVE the popcorn chicken. Honestly, they more closely resemble chicken nuggets as i-Tea uses large chunks of actual meat and less breading. As a result, the breading is more crisp than crunchy, but I'm happy enough with that. I'd highly recommend. Additionally, I'd also highly recommend the Japanese egg-tofu and the curly fries. And for the record, the popcorn chicken is good if you prefer salty, spicy (in the spice way, not the heat way), and the other two options I mentioned are good for if you prefer savory-sweet. All of them actually last quite well, and are still tasty even after they've cooled a bit.
Finally, the most important feature to ME is that they are close to the Great Mall. Since i-Tea provides good food that can be packed in a box and sealed drinks as long as you don't preemptively put in the straw, this adds up to that it's a great place to pick up food to take with you into the Cinemarks theater. Remember the basic survival roles. Big bag (preferably with a flat bottom), keep the drinks sealed until after you've settled down, and don't take the outside food or drinks out until the theater goes dark and the trailers officially start. Don't worry about the smell, Great Mall's Cinemarks smell so strongly of popcorn butter that I couldn't even smell the food and I was the one carrying it. Just be sure to clean up after yourself.
Good drinks, fast service, good food, and is in a convenient spot in many respects. If they have an empty spot and you want to eat there, grab that spot first. If you're waiting for your order, wait in that small alcove just off to the left of the door. Kudos to the staff for their fast pace and efficiency. Don't worry, you'll definitely get your order well-done and consistently. read more
