I love Melissa she took me in for my hair dream colors appointment and did MAGIC I will NOT go anywhere else.

I am an out of towner about to move to Eugene and was seriously hoping that this would be my new salon but it appears not. Before our last trip I called weeks in advance and spoke with Sara, the owner about my specific hair type and the service that I wanted. She was booked and "matched" me with Kristin. I asked "how much" and was told "about $110" for a single process color with the ends combed through and a cut .Is $135 without tip( which I believe I gave $25) about $110? Not in my world. The cut was just OK, the actual color consultation was really non-existent and my hair was the same texture, thickness and length as described on the phone. It did not occur to me to question the pre- appointment price quote before service and I was shocked when Kristin said $135 after service. I didn't say anything because it was pouring out and I knew I had to wait in the shop for some time for my husband to pick me up since we only had one car being visitors. Very awkward. I can not be sure if this was a simple miscommunication but I felt "used" as an out of town client. I made it clear I was moving to the area and looking for a new stylist. I went in December 7th of this year, with high expectations due to all the good reviews and the 4.5 star rating. When I walked in, I never got the women's name, and when I ask about her about herself she seemed stand offish, could've been a bad day. But, when I showed the pictures of the hair cut I wanted and the length. I was left with a a with a crooked hair cut, that was quite shorter than I wanted it. I'd had bangs my whole life and would love to have a new style.can I do walk ins? I think it's possible to make your hair longer with extensions but not sure if it would work with bangs. I've seen the opposite where you can buy clip on bangs if you don't have bangs and want them but I geuss for the other way around you need a full wig. Do you guys have any suggestions,? I saw Nani on a recco from my roommate who saw her on a recco. She was right - Nani is great! Very friendly and chill. She styled my hair even though I was expecting to walk out with wet hair and style it myself later. So she blow dried and flat ironed my hair. She was great and I will be back! I have been to multiple salons in Eugene and Portland and I have never felt so unappreciated as a customer like I felt with Nani unfortunately my favorite stylist from another salon was all booked until next week but I am impatient and I wanted to get this done soon so I decided just to take anybody from there which I regret when someone just doesn't have passion for what they do, they cannot deliver results or make you feel like you spent your money well it's not worth it . read more

I can't say enough good things about Melissa. My Mom and I both travel from Roseburg to see her because she is truly amazing at what she does. My Mom and I both like to do red hair color and a good colorist can be tricky to find, but Melissa is the real deal! She creates beautiful, vibrant colors and was even able to fix the mullet-like haircut my Mom had been given by a stylist at a salon in Roseburg. I recently decided to go for a blonde balayage after doing red for years. Melissa exceeded my expectations and was able to get my hair much lighter than anticipated. Not to mention my hair still feels soft and looks healthy. If you are looking for an experienced colorist at a very reasonable price, look no further. read more

I just moved to Eugene and was in desperate need of a haircut! I found IRWS on yelp and was sold with the coupon. I had no idea what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. Sara did an AMAZING job. She took my indecisive and mumbly ideas and made a masterpiece! Sara really found a style that will work with my life and very little patience to spend styling it in the morning. before I had come across I run with scissors, I had a really hard time finding an affordable and good hairdresser in eugene. out of desperation I went to I run with scissors to get a trim for my, at the time, really long unmanageable hair. I was given to melissa and left completely happy with my cut and the price (around $30). and then I decided to cut off all of my hair into a pixie. I went to melissa again because she seemed to know what she was doing with my thick wavy hair. I honestly couldn't be more happy with how it turned out. she was really patient with my hemming and hawing about getting it cut, and happily looked at all the reference pictures I had brought and we were able to make a plan based on what I had seen online. I've seriously been getting compliments a couple of times a week about my haircut since I got it cut in april, and usually from complete strangers. unfortunately I moved from eugene, but I figured I'd give melissa some good publicity. read more

Based on a few positive reviews online, I chanced cutting off my very long, extraordinarily thick hair in exchange for a totally new look from Chelsea at I Run With Scissors. I could NOT be happier. It's a super cute salon, everyone was really friendly, and most importantly my hair looks fantastic. She had no trouble dealing with my very difficult hair, did exactly what I wanted her to do, gave me some good hair care advise, and allowed me to come in a week or two later when I decided I wanted it a bit shorter for free. And all this for the fabulous student price of $35. Absolutely recommended to anyone. read more

5+ stars for Sara! I have curly hair and needed not only a good cut but color that worked with my curls. I took a couple of pictures of beachy brown with blonde highlight hair styles. Sara listened and gave me suggestions on what would look best with my hair and complexion. She did the BEST balayage hair color I have ever had AND a great cut. It has only been a couple of days since she did it and I have gotten a ton on compliments. If that isn't good enough Sara also went through my daily routine with me to help me figure out why my hair was so dry. She recommended I stop using mousse as it drys out the hair. My boyfriend and I just moved to Eugene from Las Vegas, we were in a desperate need for cuts. I looked up for a place that wasn't a chain. I saw the name of the salon and well, I ran there! I called made a appointment for the both of us that day which wasn't problem. My boyfriend got sat first I waiting maybe 15 mins for my lady to finish her client. At first I was a bit stand of fish due to the fact of the exterior facade of the salon. However, I read the great reviews and decided to give the place a chance. I have trusted my hair to Sarah for more than 13 years. She is amazing with color and cuts. She has been with me through every stage of short, longish, red, bleached blond, highlights and now creatively disguising my gray. She is careful not to cut too much but is happy to keep cutting until it is the length that I want. I've been coming to visit Sara for a hair cut for close to a decade. I've had others cut and style my hair but I keep coming back to her. She seems to be able to read my mind and do my hair exactly as I'd hoped. My last visit, Sara was booked up so I had the luck to have Emily help me. I appreciate that she took the time to recognize my needs and listen to everything I wanted in a cut and color. She did an excellent job. I've now visited I Run With Scissors several times and every time I've seen Emily. She is a fantastic stylist who truly wants you to be happy with the end product. The first time I came in I got a simple haircut which was very reasonably priced and well done. I came back and got a balayage a couple months later and she was able to achieve exactly what I was looking for and it looked very natural. My third visited we unfortunately miscommunicated on what I was looking for but upon seeing that I was a bit surprised about how blonde the color was and less than thrilled about how it came out, Emily assured me that I was welcome to come back (for free) and she would make sure I liked the end result. Usually I wouldn't take a stylist up on that offer but she seemed so sincere that I felt comfortable accepting. I'm so glad I went back in... it looks much better now! It's rare you meet a stylist who is as genuine, considerate, and talented as Emily. I highly recommend her and will definitely return in the future. read more

I was really concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a good hair colorist after moving to Eugene from the East Coast. Not only did Sara listen to exactly what I wanted, she did the best balayage hair color technique EVER!!! Review on Sara: I had long straight hair about 4" below my shoulders. I went to Sara to have my haircut and styled. She was very pleasant. During the haircut she kept telling me that no one in her shop would ever ruin anyone's hair. She also kept stressing that she wanted my hair to look "purposeful" as if everything done to it had been done on purpose. At the end she styled it by scrunching it and told me that I should get used to pulling it back with my hands and it would look fine. After arriving home the first thing I noticed was that both of my ears were chemical burned, red and sore and itching. I had no chemical treatment so I found this alarming. My husband came home and freaked out because I had huge holes all over my head. He started taking pictures of the back of my head and yes, there are several (more than four) huge holes hacked into my hair. There are patches where the hair is so short it sticks out straight. She left the very top layer long and it looks like I'm trying to cover bald spots with a comb over. I am new to Eugene, and I have never met this woman before. Since she stressed that my haircut was purposeful, I must assume that she had every intention to destroy my hair and that she attacked me with malice and forethought. Normal people don't destroy people for no apparent reason. read more

I just had my hair done with a Prevana Perfection treatment, color & cut for the second time over here in Bned. She is amazingly on top of the latest products and newest techniques and is a perfectionist at what she does. Each time she has done an amazing job with consisitent results. She is pleasant, professional, and especially good in her profession. I highly recommend her for anything you want done with your hair. Emily was very nice, and worked hard to give me an ombre. But it was unfinished and yellow. Going elsewhere to get it fixed.

I was just passing through town. I got on Yelp and looked for salons with good reviews. Not being very particular about salons, I called the first one on the list. They didn't answer the phone. Neither did the next one or the next one. I Run With Scissors was the fourth place I called and the only one that picked up the phone, so they've got that going for them. The woman who cut my hair was very nice, but she seemed a bit tentative, and she cut my hair much shorter than I asked her to. I think it was an honest mistake (hair shrinks when it dries), and incidentally I love the way it turned out. I prefer assertive hair dressers, because I want to know they feel confident about what they are doing. They're the ones trained to cut hair, not me, so beyond saying what style I want I don't want to give specific instructions. But maybe that's just me. IRWS is absolutely fine otherwise and is very affordable. read more
