To make my appointment, since this was my first time at Jenny's, I contacted Jenny through Yelp. She responded promptly, and after some phone tag and voicemails she set me up with an appointment with Kathryn because Jenny herself is booked out for weeks apparently. I was totally ok with that because I had seen that Kathryn had some pretty great reviews on here, herself. Kathryn gave me a pretty substantial haircut. I went from long and straight to a short, layered, asymmetrical style. I brought several pictures and she took the time to look through them to help me come up with a cut that would suit me. She is extremely personable and likable! She is very proficient at cutting hair with current techniques. It's going to take me a minute to get used to my new hair but I do really like it. I think this is the most affordable salon that isn't a chain-type place. I feel like I can actually add a regular haircut into my budget with Kathryn's rates. The salon is small and cute. Everyone was friendly and complementary. People of all ages seem to frequent this place. Without telling you all my life story, let me just say that I have had my fair share of traumatizing hair cut experiences, so I have been cutting my own hair for the past ten years. I have not been able to do as good of a job as I would like to in recent years, so I finally decided to go to a professional last Fall, but the hair cut I received was absolutely horrendous -- it was literally butchered and extremely poorly executed -- I had to fix the laying myself, and it has been very difficult to grow out. I finally worked up the courage to find a new hair dresser the other day when I decided that I could not longer tolerate pinning my grown out bangs out of my face every day. After reading the wealth of positive reviews about Jenny, I took a leap of faith and went to her salon. I ended up just having her cut my bangs, but the experience was still so incredibly positive that it left an impression on me; Jenny took the time to discuss the logistics of my choice, and we mapped out the hair goals so that I can move forward in a logical manner. My fiance and I had decided to help my niece out and get her the haircut she wanted. she had found this very specific style, it looked like one of those Scene Styles. We called Jenny's and she said she would be leaving soon, but decided to fit us in anyways. My niece being a 14 year old girl, she thought this haircut was going to come out exactly like the picture. Jenny was awesome in this situation, she cut her hair like the picture, but left some length. (Just in case) We will just say things did not go well on my nieces side. I personally could see the style was like the photo, my niece could not. Instead of Jenny continuing the haircut, she stopped and comforted my niece, and gave her all the tools she would need to try and make the Scene look come out. Had my first perm done by Jenny herself, and so far I love it! I had to wait awhile for the appointment because she was booked out a ways but I figured that was a good sign. The chemicals used weren't harsh at all, my scalp was never irritated from them and the smell only bothered me when I was under the dryer but that was only for 15 minutes. The service was very fairly priced (~$75) and she did it in about 45 minutes. It's holding up decently but I've only had it for a week or so I can't attest to the duration much beyond that. Some of the curls were looser than others to begin with so it looks asymmetrical but this was mostly just for fun so it's no biggie to me. She gave a good tip about using an Epsom Salt and water spritz to help tighten things up and it works! Overall I would definitely recommend her if you're interested in a perm. After living in Eugene and avoiding finding a new stylist, I decided to make an appointment at Jenny's based off her raving reviews. I saw Katherine to change grown out blonde highlights into an ombre and a cut. Right away she looked at the mess of color I had going on talked me through her different ideas on how to give me the look I wanted while taking advantage of what I already had. She is more than knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable right away. What ended up being two all over colors was a comfortable experience with hair more beautiful than I could have imagined. She matched the base to my natural brown color and blended the blonde ombre so subtly that it looks like it belongs that way. The price is also very modest for the work that she did. I booked my appointment with Alex, the newest addition to the salon, and everything was incredible. From the moment I walked in the door, Jenny greeted me with a smile and made me feel so welcome! Alex kept my options open and was reinforcing that it was my hair and I had to walk away happy. She was so sweet and gave me so many options and also has a killer sense of humor which kept everything upbeat. She took everything slow and did little steps to help me realize that drastic changes aren't always the most beneficial decision; it was really nice to be with a hairstylist that clearly cares about the outcome, not just getting the job done. She never rushed the process and did a great job. The whole environment is so family oriented and every customer I saw walk in was greeted by name and had clearly been going there for years. After recently moving to Eugene from California and being a platinum blonde, finding a good hair salon was top on my list. I tried a few high-end salons downtown but they all seemed to be overpriced and under qualified, leaving my blonde looking yellow or orange with scabs on my scalp due to bleach burn. Finally I found the perfect salon from Yelp and read all the wonderful reviews and booked an appointment with Jan at Jenny's Hair. It was a very relaxing environment with just a few hairstylists. There is beautiful, revolving local artists work on the walls to admire while you get you're hair touched up. Third time reviewing, third time loving! I moved from Eugene to the Corvallis area a few months ago, and I'm still willing to drive 40 min each way to get my haircut from Jenny! She is, as always, an amazing hairstylist. I've gotten a haircut a bunch of times since my last review, so some highlights: --Jenny bought me coffee on a slower day while my hair was drying. :) --Jenny saves colors for me when I tell her what I'm going to want at the next appointment. --Jenny always has new artwork to look at in the salon (I visit almost monthly). --Jenny is literally always on time for my appointments. --Other members of the salon staff are funny and nice to chat with! My experience at Jenny's was excellent. I went in for a haircut and highlights, which took about two hours (maybe two and a half?). The time went by very quickly as Jenny and I chatted and discussed what I wanted with my hair. She's really sweet and talented; she gave me the best layer cut I've ever had! Jenny's been doing hair for over forty years and you can tell she still really enjoys it. I can't speak to the abilities of the other stylists, but Jenny seemed extremely professional and I would think she'd make a priority of hiring people who live up to her standards. Aside from the friendly and quality service, one of the best things about my visit was that a full weave with two colors, a haircut, and a tip cost just under $80! I arrived at Jenny's Hair & Company for my appointment with Katherine Watt. She was super upbeat and was finishing up "rescuing" a person who had been "butchered" elsewhere. The new client left smiling and Katherine then applied her magic to me. I needed a color touch up and a trim. I explained that I had been unable to find anyone that filled my Montana stylist shoes since moving to Eugene two years ago. Eureka, I am so happy to say I won't have to worry about getting back to Montana to get my hair colored and styled. I can't even begin to explain how amazing Jenny is. I moved to Eugene from Florida where I had my faithful hairstylist for 8 years. I initially made the mistake of using a groupon with another stylist in Eugene and immediately regretted it. I talked to Jenny and sent her pictures of my hair and what I wish it had come out like. 2 months ago I made the scary plunge from waist-length hair to a pixie cut. I loved it and still do, but after moving to Eugene and no longer having my trusted stylist, I was very nervous about getting it trimmed by anyone else. Luckily, after being brave and deciding that Jenny's had the best reviews for my college-student budget, I have found a new place to put my pixie cut faith in! I came into Jenny's because of all the great reviews I had read on Yelp! After many years of trying different stylists and trying to cut my hair on my own at home, I can say that I've found my go to place!!! My stylist was Katherine and she was wonderful!!! I had brought in a bunch of pictures of what I was wanting to get (an A-line bob with an undercut hidden underneath) but I wasn't sure I would be able to pull it off as I have really fine/thinnish hair. Today, Jenny saved me. I haven't gotten my haircut in almost 2 years because I'm untrusting with who I let touch my hair. I finally got it cut last week by a friend who I felt just left me with a mess LUCKILY,I found Jenny on Yelp and after reading all of the reviews about how amazing she is AND affordable, I decided to give her a call. She got me in as soon as she was available, it only took her 30 minutes to wash, cut (save), and dry and style my hair. She was on time, super sweet and very affordable. Jan is my hair dresser at Jenny's Hair and Company. After one hair cut, I knew Jan would be my hair dresser. I go back to her every 4-5 weeks, and have done so for two years because my hair is thick and grows very fast. Jan has my hair looking just like I want. Jan is very personable and obviously knows what people want. Since going to Jan, my natural wave has come back so I only have a shampoo and a cut with a razor. Because of the way my hair looks, other people I know now go to Jan, one of them being a man. My family and I are fairly new to Eugene and while browsing for a new salon I found Jenny's. Jenny was amazing!! She colored my hair exactly how I wanted it even with my vague and probably not the most helpful description of my desired results. Wow, this place is GREAT! I just moved to the area, and I desperately needed to get my shaggy hair-do trimmed. I am really picky about hairstylists, so I actually went onto yelp to get some advice for great, cheap hair salons. Jenny's was the first to pop up. Trusting the gushing reviews, I did a walk-in. My hair looks and feels AMAZING!!! My stylist, Jan, did a wonderful job following both the picture of the cut I wanted, and listening to me describe the edginess I desired. And all for less than $30! After one experience, I can confidently say that you won't find a better cut for a better price in Eugene. For an extremely reasonable price I received a beautiful cut (she did exactly what I asked and had helpful suggestions) and friendly service, as well as all-organic shampoos and hair products. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, I had no trouble getting a quick appointment and again, you can't beat that price. Jenny has been my "cutter" for over 30 years. I've followed her around Eugene...she started in another shop and finally struck out on her own [many years ago]. I would never dream of letting anyone else touch my hair!! She is not only a professional with oodles of experience who knows what she is doing, but she also listens to her clients and gives them what they want. She is also a very active member of the local community, most notably in offering display space for local artists in her salon and hosting a monthly "art walk" event to showcase that artwork.
