This place rules. I've come here twice for balayage and a cut and I've been overwhelmingly satisfied with the experience and the result. I've asked for complicated dye jobs and cuts requiring high levels of skill and the stylists have totally delivered! I also live how unpretentious the environment is. Went in for a trim at the Blair location and the woman who cut my hair hacked off 6 inches and then tired to tell me that was I had asked for! I had a reference photo for her, she barley looked at it. She did tell me she'd just had her shears sharpened, maybe that is why even after asking her stop cutting the length, she continued to hack away. It is uneven and doesn't lay right, the fringe and face layers are a mess, way shorter on the right side but still too short to fix on either. I've been communicating with hair stylists for 20 years and never, never had anything this horrible happen. When I tried to talk to a manager or the owner, I was ignored. My emails and even a visit to shop ended with zero resolution. I would say the vibe is no different than Supercuts and you'll take just as much of a chance of not getting what you ask for or worse! This place is hip! I came in to get my a-line shaped up and Twyla did a fantastic job! She was very thorough and asked a lot of good questions on length, parting, etc. The aesthetics in the salon are very fun and make you feel like you're in an Andy Warhol gallery with lots of cool art and sticks around. They wanted to only give me a partial refund and did not want to fix it. I had to push for a full refund. Awesome place. They do a great job with working around covid and don't cut any corners. They space you out well and there is no funny business about wearing a mask. Hairdressers/barbers (I don't know the correct term) were all friendly and awesome, and the music was great. Not my favorite experience. First time I went I was with a girl named Karlie and she was great so I made another appointment and requested her. Unfortunately when I showed up I was given a stylist I didn't know. They didn't contact me to tell me there was a switch and the stylist I had actually left my hair damp. She said that I had to pay the next price up because I wanted it shorter around the ears so that would be 2 guards. The description says they can use up to three. They did not do the complimentary rinse and hot towel finish at end of service. I'm bad at both choosing hairstyles and communicating the bad hairstyle that I want. Twyla interpreted my inspiration pictures, suggested changes to suit me better, and executed the cut very well. I have a ton of hair and she took the time to get the cut right, despite the appointment running past closing. I am a big fan of Bishops, being a native of the Portland area. I was gonna pleasantly surprised to see that they had opened up a new location in Eugene just block from my new apartment. From the moment I walked in, I felt well taken care of. I had to wait a bit, as I did not make a day-of appointment, but they gladly handed me a beer to keep me occupied. My hair was cut by Luci Ewoniuk, who was awesome! She has been working for several years with Bishops and gladly transferred down to the new shop in the area where she's originally from. She knew exactly how to cut my hair, noticing details others have not in the past. She's a great conversationalist and very professional. I could tell she loves what she does. In the past, I haven't tried to book specific stylists, but I definitely will try to go back to her for future visits! read more

I made an appointment on a Friday morning for that same afternoon right after getting off of work. All of the ladies here were extremely friendly and the shop was extremely clean. I instantly felt comfortable here. Karlie did an amazing job on my hair. I haven't had my hair cut in about 3 years and I dye my hair at home all the time. So naturally it was pretty dead and needed a trim. I don't normally like people cutting my hair--I always hate how it comes out. I went into this with little hopes that I'd like it, and left feeling absolutely amazing. Karlie cut my hair dry and gave me layers that follow my natural wavy pattern. If you're looking for a shoulder-length/long haircuts, do not go to this salon. This place is more like a barbershop than a proper professional salon. Everything seems to be cool at first, they smile, they offer you beer (I found that pretty weird because usually if you visit a nice salon they'd offer you tea or coffee, even champagne), but then it comes the moment of truth, the cut is terrible. I'm not impressed with my cut at all, it just seems like the stylist has little to no experience in cutting longer and thicker hair. Thought it'd be cool to visit this new salon in town, turned out to be a big mistake. For the same price, I could go to a better salon with stylists with better experience. This place is awesome.I have social anxiety so for me to even show up for an appointment is a big deal I have to go through a lot of stress and anxiety from the minute I make the appointment until the time of the appointment(if i go at all) But with the encouragement from my friend and the horrible mess my hair was at the time I went to the appointment. Worst haircut I've ever gotten. Hands down. Walked in with a pretty obvious photo and a few specific instructions, and got turned into a rectangle. If you decide to take the risk and go here DO NOT go to Lydia. She was nice but didn't seem like she knew what she was doing at all. On multiple occasions she told me she was going to fix up a few spots but had just gotten tired of looking at it. Once she returned she just botched whatever she had started. I asked her a few times for corrections but only seemed to make it worse. read more

Do not get your hair colored here. My 18-year-old daughter, a brunette, got highlights that turned bright orange the next day. When she talked to the manager he did not even apologize or show any empathy even though he agreed it looked very bad. After how horrible her hair looked and how rude the manager was, she came home in tears. $180 down the drain. Don't throw your money away. I have been to Bishops in the Hillsboro and Portland area and really liked my experience so I wanted to try this location. They all have a cool vibe. This location has a garage door which I could imagine will be really cool in the summer to let the breeze in. I called around 1pm to see if they could color my hair today and they were able to fit me in by 4pm. That's pretty cool considering a lot of salons can't do anything last minute. We watched Halloween movies the whole time and though I'm not a fan of Halloween or the movies, it was kind of a cool experience. No awkward small talk. My only complaint would be the stylist asked if I wanted my hair curled and to me, this is something I thought would be included with my already $115ish price of the hair coloring. A lot of salons include a style or a cut with a color. I was under the impression a style would be included as she did not tell me it would cost more. I only found out about the cost when I paid. I didn't want to say anything because I did want my hair curled. Otherwise, I will return and I'm happy with my color. read more

Everything was great about my experience at Bishops. My partner and I both came in for a drastic change in style, and we were guided through the process with complete acceptance and continual reassurance. My partner really appreciated being given one last chance to back out before the hair all hit the floor! Our stylists worked hard to make suggestions for what might work best without being pushy.
