Update to galaxy hair review March 2022 - why I left: I went to Blu 3 times total. The first time was supposed to be one day, but turned into 2. I was fine with this because my hair was beautiful and he still charged a reasonable price. The 2nd and 3rd times took 2-3h longer than he anticipated which resulted in double-booking at the end. He charged me significantly more (roughly double) what I was expecting to pay when I walked in. The 3rd time I saw him, I was there until 1am and left with damp/wet hair because it was too late for him to dry it. We also got started 1h late because he needed to go buy product while I waited and walked his dog. He also did not do what I asked. Either 2 or 3 of the times I saw him, I showed him 1-2 similar pictures and explained what specifically I liked about them and asked him to copy them. I even gave him specific percentages of the ratio between purple/blue/fuchsia. When I asked him to copy the pictures, he responded "well, we'll see" as if he didn't have control over where he put the colors on my head. I would have been fine if he got close, but he just did whatever he wanted. The last time I saw him, the entire top section of my head was pink. It looked super weird unless I braided it. I did not leave because of his personality. He's direct with a strong personality, like me. But it may be a bit much for some people. Summary: I left due to inconsistent/ unpredictable pricing that was more than I can afford and his issues with time management. I knew this was going to be an expensive lifestyle going into it, but this is Eugene; there are lots of people that do fashion colors. I cannot and will not pay that much money when he isn't even roughly following my instructions for what I want. My current stylist charges $250. The last time I saw Blu, I paid over double of that. I don't even know where to start. 1) As soon as I sat in the chair he requested that I check in at Yelp to increase his ratings and he watched over my shoulder as I do it. I did not like him putting pressure on me before he even introduced himself or even ask me what kind of haircut I wanted. 2) During hair wash, he put some kind of chemical conditioner on my head and left me there and went in the back to do his chores/dishes or something. Since I thought he used a regular conditioner I didn't say anything but then I started to feel my entire head is burning , stinging and itchy really bad. (I have so many allergies and my body reacts to toxic chemicals sometimes. Had I known it was not a regular conditioner, I would decline to put it on my head.) Burning and stinging gets worse then I called his name like 3 times and he ignored me and I yelled his name on my 4th try and told him "I'm burning really bad, whatever this is please wash it, it's hurting me" . He finally washed it but he had some in his hands and he dropped it on my eyes this time. Then my eyes start burning, so I ran to bathroom to rinse my eyes. 3) Finally I sat on the chair for my hair cut. I said "I want a hair cut with LOTS OF LAYERS, sexy, edgy, tousled, wind blown look". He cut my hair in 15 min, did some layers in front, side of my face and trimmed the bottoms but left the entire back of my hair "as is" no layers whatsoever. I asked him "Is that it? I thought a full haircut would take longer. I was hoping you would cut more layers". He said "Just trust me, I know what I'm doing". I sit quietly hoping he is right but ended up leaving the salon with my previous boring, flat hair with not much of a change. For $85, I expected a real hair cut, not a trim. I have been to Blu 3 times. Sharing my experience. The 2nd time was a nightmare. Came in for a Brazilian and grey highlight. Left with 5 inches of black hair and no highlights. Appt. lasted at least 8 hours. He kept insisting he wanted to put extensions in my hair!!! Poor time management. Blu had company which he spent quite a bit of time with leaving me sitting in the chair. As clients showed up for their appt.he apologized and rescheduled their appt. Can show him pictures of what you are looking for and he ultimately does things his way and what he wants. Says, Trust the process. 3rd time returned for him to do a color correction and cut. This time was these 8plyushours......midnight. Blu left me sitting in the chair while he ran to the store for supplies. Ended up cutting the black color out of my hair, 5 inches. He thought he was finished until I reminded him he had to cut my hair.... With heavy sigh he cut my hair complaining how tried he was, .15 minutes later I was done. I paid almost 400 dollars to have my hair fixed. Should have been free. Requested a refund and never heard back from him. I was told he didn't even have a license.
