Thank Gawds for Supernova! Great consultation, knowledgeable staff, perfect alternative atmosphere and everyone is so gosh darn friendly. In the past I've had trouble conveying what I want done despite the simplicity of block stripes and dye, no such problem here. I've also had hair dresses argue with what I want done or try to hard sell me into more, again, none of that. They listen to what you want and then they do it with enthusiasm. All questions answered and the delightful side banter doesn't hurt my feelings. Going to bring my picky 13 year old as well as my 17 year old autistic spawn . I have been looking for a new hair stylist and on a whim, booked an appointment with Emma at Supernova. I have very fine, thin hair, but Emma did a fantastic job and I am super happy with it. It was fun chatting with her, as we are both dog people and shared stories of our fur babies. Prices are right in line with getting a quality cut and style without paying through the roof. The vibe of this salon is also fabulous, as the owner is a huge Star Trek fan and the place is full of fun memorabilia. read more

Then, I was introduced to Sage and decided to give it one last shot. Boy, am I glad I did. She listened very attentively to what I wanted and communicated with me what she was doing, even gave me ideas on how to style and care for my hair. I had my hair cut here by Leah a couple of years ago (who was the owner at the time, don't know if she still is). Was the worst haircut experience of my life! I brought several pictures, from different angles, of the haircut I wanted. The pictures were of my favorite haircut I'd had ON MY OWN HEAD, so seemed like it couldn't have been clearer what I was asking for. Leah proceeded to give me the haircut SHE felt like, without consulting me, all the while going on and on about being an "artist", and blah, blah, blah. She cut bangs. I didn't want or ask for bangs. She gave me a haircut I HATED so much, that I wore my hair pulled back for weeks after she cut my hair. Even my friends seemed disturbed by the haircut. They said "huh, you look like a news anchor"....When I said I had my hair cut that day, nobody said "oh it looks good!" Very telling. I called and asked for my money back. Leah was very snotty about it, said I had to come in and let her try to fix it. She said I needed to use product and flat iron it, that she'd find a product that I needed to use (i.e. she was asking me to spend MORE money to fix HER mistake). I told her I didn't use styling products or have a flat iron before she started cutting my hair, and that I liked to have a low-maintenance style. So I begrudgingly made the appointment for her to "fix" it for the next week. The day before I was scheduled to go in again, Leah called and left a message saying I didn't need to come in, that she would mail me a refund check. When I got the check she had kept the tip! Ha! We stopped by on our way out of town, and my SO was looking to get his hair cut since he was long over due. We saw this place had great reviews so we walked over. Price is right, about 25$ for a basic men's hair cut, 35$ for what he got, which included more texture. We were able to get an appointment with Kaitlin in an hour and a half and she was just the sweetest thing and she definitely knows her stuff. I showed her a picture of what he wanted done and she worked with him from there. And she did just an amazing job. Everyone was very nice. Well since I was just there and NO ONE was there! It said they were open all the lights were on BUT the door was locked, no one was in there! Imagine has moved from 18th street to Broadway and Olive, downtown Eugene. An incredible transformation from the strip center on 18th!! Sheri has been doing my hair since she worked at The Creative Id, which in it's heyday was the classiest place in town to get your hair cut. They have plenty of top-notch stylists and even take walk-in appointments, although I suspect their most popular stylists (Sheri, Sage and owner Leah) are almost always booked far in advance. I am new to Eugene and needed to find a new stylist who works with tape in extensions and great experience with color. I read tons of reviews and this was one of the top. I called the shop and was referred to Cori. I left a message and she got right back to me. She made time for me to have a free consultation within 2 days. We decided to order my hair that day and I had my appointment within a week. I was a challenging color project, which included coloring and matching extensions to my hair. Cori nailed it! She was totally confident that it would be perfect! One big reason for this is her preparations. When we couldn't find the desired color from one of the salon swatches, she literally went to 2 different beauty supply stores and sent me pictures of swatches! That was so awesome for her to go above and beyond to make sure I got the color I wanted. We had a fun appointment and I came out with exactly what I had hoped for! Sage is a terrible colorist. DO NOT let her bleach or color your hair! I received more than one poorly colored frumpy cut. I always felt as though I was being sold a product or extra service and often heard about her personal and spiritual life. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I asked for low lights and ended up with yellow and red blotches. It took 6 months to correct the color. Terrible. Overpriced and pushy. read more
