Update to galaxy hair review March 2022 - why I left: I went to Blu 3 times total. The first time was supposed to be one day, but turned into 2. I was fine with this because my hair was beautiful and he still charged a reasonable price. The 2nd and 3rd times took 2-3h longer than he anticipated which resulted in double-booking at the end. He charged me significantly more (roughly double) what I was expecting to pay when I walked in. The 3rd time I saw him, I was there until 1am and left with damp/wet hair because it was too late for him to dry it. We also got started 1h late because he needed to go buy product while I waited and walked his dog. He also did not do what I asked. Either 2 or 3 of the times I saw him, I showed him 1-2 similar pictures and explained what specifically I liked about them and asked him to copy them. I even gave him specific percentages of the ratio between purple/blue/fuchsia. When I asked him to copy the pictures, he responded "well, we'll see" as if he didn't have control over where he put the colors on my head. I would have been fine if he got close, but he just did whatever he wanted. The last time I saw him, the entire top section of my head was pink. It looked super weird unless I braided it. I did not leave because of his personality. He's direct with a strong personality, like me. But it may be a bit much for some people. Summary: I left due to inconsistent/ unpredictable pricing that was more than I can afford and his issues with time management. I knew this was going to be an expensive lifestyle going into it, but this is Eugene; there are lots of people that do fashion colors. I cannot and will not pay that much money when he isn't even roughly following my instructions for what I want. My current stylist charges $250. The last time I saw Blu, I paid over double of that. I scheduled my first appointment with Blu not knowing his work besides what was posted so I went in blind per say. I wanted a hair cut, blowout and color the whole works you would say. From the moment I walked into the salon to the finish product I was happy. He is such a amazing stylist and is very knowledgeable. You can tell right off the bat he truly cares about his clients no matter if they are new ones like myself. He didn't mind me asking several questions since I've never had a blowout before. Over one year since my last review and I still love Tilt88! I wouldn't trust my hair with anyone else but Blu. The salon is always clean and beautifully decorated and his cute dog Oscar is a delight to be greeted by! Every time I leave an appointment I am smiling and happy to have such a talented and kind stylist looking after my hair.

I don't even know where to start. 1) As soon as I sat in the chair he requested that I check in at Yelp to increase his ratings and he watched over my shoulder as I do it. I did not like him putting pressure on me before he even introduced himself or even ask me what kind of haircut I wanted. 2) During hair wash, he put some kind of chemical conditioner on my head and left me there and went in the back to do his chores/dishes or something. Since I thought he used a regular conditioner I didn't say anything but then I started to feel my entire head is burning , stinging and itchy really bad. (I have so many allergies and my body reacts to toxic chemicals sometimes. Had I known it was not a regular conditioner, I would decline to put it on my head.) Burning and stinging gets worse then I called his name like 3 times and he ignored me and I yelled his name on my 4th try and told him "I'm burning really bad, whatever this is please wash it, it's hurting me" . He finally washed it but he had some in his hands and he dropped it on my eyes this time. Then my eyes start burning, so I ran to bathroom to rinse my eyes. 3) Finally I sat on the chair for my hair cut. I said "I want a hair cut with LOTS OF LAYERS, sexy, edgy, tousled, wind blown look". He cut my hair in 15 min, did some layers in front, side of my face and trimmed the bottoms but left the entire back of my hair "as is" no layers whatsoever. I asked him "Is that it? I thought a full haircut would take longer. I was hoping you would cut more layers". He said "Just trust me, I know what I'm doing". I sit quietly hoping he is right but ended up leaving the salon with my previous boring, flat hair with not much of a change. For $85, I expected a real hair cut, not a trim. I was so disappointed with this haircut that I scheduled with another salon immediately the next day. Pictures are immediately after leaving the salon. Does this look like "Edgy, sexy, tousled, wind blown hair cut with LOTS OF LAYERS"????

Where do I even begin?!... First off, this review is a couple of weeks overdue because I'm not one that enjoys taking the time to leave online reviews at all. Especially, if I have to create a darn account in order to do so. ;-) That said, Blu and his sweet pup Oscar crossed my mind today and I knew this had to be done. Friends, a 5-star rating is simply not high enough. Every positive comment you'll read about Blu and tilt88 is no joke. I'm a nervous wreck whenever I get my hair cut and tend to have look-back moments and wished that something would have gone differently. It's been over two weeks since I was sitting in Blu's chair and I STILL love my hair so much. He was accommodating, kind, knowledgeable, and did absolutely everything to make me feel at ease. I came in thinking I knew the general style that would look good for me...then came these thought-provoking questions I've never been asked before by a stylist. He wanted to get to know me, my personality, and my lifestyle which was a game-changer. Afterward, it was easy to sit back and give this artist free range to do what he does best. I saw a LOT of inches coming off and I wasn't sure how I was going to feel at first. Then that swirl-in-the-chair mirror moment came and I think my eyes may have glossed over for a second. He created a style that compliments me from head to toe, is easy for me to maintain, and makes me feel beautiful anytime I touch my hair. The only thing I look back on is not scheduling an appointment with him sooner.

WE LOVE BLU!!!!! My girlfriend Isabelle needed a haircut before our trip to Coachella and Blu did exactly what he needed to do! Isabelle got a lot of compliments at Coachella on her hair. I HIGHLY recommend going to Blu for a haircut if you have curly/wavy hair. We don't know anyone in Eugene who can cut her hair type and we're thankful we found Blu. His salon is also amazing, and I love having his cute dog Oscar around for company while I wait for Isabelle's haircut to be done. Blu is overall a phenomenal person and we both felt extremely safe and welcomed in his presence. We've also been looking for a certain hair product that works for her hair and Blu had the right one for us so of course we had to buy the products he uses!
