Do not use this company. We complained to the State Pest Control Board about these guys and they told us that even though Hydrex was clearly negligent in the way they treated our rental property, there was nothing they could do because we did not contact them before the statute of limitations ran out on pest control complaints. (3 years) Hydrex conveniently only gives you a full report every three years so you really have to watch them. The State did give them a citation because of improper reporting. This company is by far the worse ever! First, when I moved out of my home I informed the company to stop services on my home. They continued to do services at the house that I was not living in and charged me for it. Secondly, I called them numerous times to have them stop the services and either they would tell me they would call me back or have my call go straight to voice mail. A few months past without any follow up call from the company, COLLECTIONS call me and tell me that I owe a past due bill of $200+. I informed the gentlemen (Don/Doug) on the phone that it was not my responsibility to pay this bill as I have informed the company to cease all services with my home. The gentlemen kept calling me every week at every our to see if I can make some sort of payment for this bill I so called owed to Hydrex. When I informed him that I don't owe them anything for this he hung up on me. When I called him back to see if we lost connection, he immediately told me it's not his "f**in problem and the reason why I can't pay this bill is because I don't have any money and that I'm poor as sh**. I then told him with his threats and allegations of payment on a bill that I do not owe money to I would be contacting a lawyer to settle this problem. He then told me good luck bi*** you don't have any legal ground for such action. Please stay away from this business! All they are out to do is take your money. HORRIBLE customer service! I will never be recommending them to anyone. 1 star is WAY TO MUCH for this company. read more

We moved into our first home in San Diego county a few years ago. The previous owner contracted this company therefore we basically inherited their services. The company solicited us to continue service for a discounted price. Wife and I obliged considering house seemed termite free,therefore, felt we needed to protect our investment. So, they show up every now and then but we NEVER saw technician conduct any type of prevention of any sort. He assured us we were all good!! Due to financial hard times we had to cut our services for a while. Well, things financially got better for us and we decided to call Hydrex back. Hydrex sends the person over to our home and basically says we have termite damage here , there, everywhere!! I told him that its hard to believe since we obtained there services a short time ago. He asked me to describe technician. I describe to him the person and he basically through him under the bus! Whatever, that's on them. Inspection is complete and he determines $1800 and some change to get me back up to par. I thought the dude was full of you know what!! I told him his company serviced my house and basically let this happen to it! He said he would talk to his managers and he would immediately get back to me...five business days past, no call! I decided to call him, no answer! I call company some confused guy answers tells me that he would have a manager call me back in a few minutes. Once again, nothing! I called again, so rude lady answers but I do get a returned call. After several excuses, guy claims management feels its my problem because I paused in my service. They can't do anything for me but charge me to start services all over!! I repeated to him several times that HYDREX had my business and didn't keep their end of the bargain to keep my home termite free!! Had they been doing the preventive maintenance in the first place, my home wouldn't have been as bad! Then the Buck started to get passed around!! Hydrex really doesn't care about your home or you!!! Lousy service from office staff, technicians and managers. I've been doing business with them for five years. The office people are not pleasant on the phone. On a couple of occasions I've asked for a different technician than the one they always send me - someone who doesn't scrape up my walls and poke holes in my screen door with his ladder and who doesn't reek of cigarette smoke. A manager called me back and said he would not change the technician because of fuel costs, their routing system and their commission structure. And told me most of his technicians smoke and "that's just the world we live in." I don't see how any of that is the customers issue. I do see how it is lousy customer service. I was also informed that with their 15000 customers they can't make accommodations for any "special requests." My wife and I have used this business several times. We own several properties, and have always used Hydrex. I'm disappointed because employee Shawn Z, told me I had to leave my home while they fumigate. I come home to find food missing from my refrigerator....??? What the heck? I'm in my 70s. Why would you steal from an old man? I feel I need to warn elderly people. I am a diabetic, and its hard enough as it is to grocery shop. I just don't understand...??? Worst pest control company ever. Home owner be aware! I had their termite service on my house for approximately more than two years ago, they did really a bad job, only about a week after their termite service which included electrogun the whole house and area treatments with chemical, I had to call them back for visible termites around the house that I could see with my naked eyes. Well, that's not the worst part yet, the worst part is that after more than two years after a one time service that I ordered, they keep sending me a bill for an INITIAL RENEWAL INSPECTION of $265 that I never ordered nor authorized, I sent them a letter to state my denial the charge, but keep getting the bogus statements without any evidences for the service.... Please stay away from this company if you don't want any frustration/headaches. Of course, my next step is to send my complaint to the BBB. read more

We had been putting off fumigating our home for termites for the past two years because of the hassle of moving out for a few days and all that goes with tenting your home. But it was time, it had to be done! So I got a recommendation for Hydrex, and for Darryl Hargett specifically, and let me just say that Darryl is THE BEST! He's prompt, courteous and friendly, and he made tenting our home as easy as it could possible be. He delivered extra bags to our doorstep because we had so much to bag in our kitchen; he took care of arranging for SDG&E to switch off/on our gas; and his crew came exactly on time to tent, and exactly on time to remove the tent, and the crew took a lot of care to ensure our plants weren't mangled during the tenting process. For a service that's usually an ordeal to go through, Darryl and Hydrex made our fumigation experience as pleasant as possible! Let's be honest, tenting your home for termites is a hassle right? I been a customer with hydrex several years and I regret doing work with them horrible company. I heard about a different preventative by using this electro gun suppose to get rid of termites. I should have just fumed instead of going with this so called gun treatment. I still have termites they had a young man with a ponytail to treat my home don't believe he did it right or is it the gun ? I read about this electro gun "worthless " bad reviews on it. I wish I could give Hydrex Pest Control negative stars! One of their technicians did a termite inspection for the house we recently bought. First of all, he did the job later than the date he supposed to do; and second, there are false statements on his report. I called him several times until I could talk to him today; basically, he did not have any explanation about false statements in his report and why he did the inspection in a later day. He asked for more money to come and give me some explanation! He hung up the phone on me; he was not courteous and co-operative at all; he asked me to do whatever I can! 20 years ago when my house was 11 years old, I noticed termite pellets and called Hydrex. They recommended a heat treatment of the entire house and annual inspections which I did. In 2014, I found termites in a wall. They recommended tenting which I did. I spent around $10,000 with their company over 20 years. During a reroofing, I find the eaves of my house destroyed by termites costing almost $6000 to repair. The condition of the wood removed was shocking with some boards so eaten away they would crumble in my hands. When questioned they stated that they cannot really find termites in the eaves of a two story house and by fine print are responsible for nothing. We have used Hydrex for over 13 years to keep the bugs at bay around the 2 houses on the property. I can tell you I never see one bug or ant or anything inside the homes. Steve is our service representative and he is one of the nicest guys around. I work from home and Steve comes and goes so quietly I sometimes do not get a chance to grab him to say Hi for a second. We have used Hydrex for termite control. They have always been very responsive to our calls for spot treatments. Finally the termites were winning. Hydrex used Mega Fume to fumigate the house. Mega Fume was excellent in their punctuality, care about the structure and my plants, and explaining the process. Hydrex stayed in contact with us throughout the whole process. Cindy at Hydrex is outstanding to work with. Extremely satisfied with the whole process, even though it is a nuisance to prepare for fumigation. I have been a fan of Steve at Hydrex since he first came out to my home in North Park many years ago. Recently when my grandfather was having a flea issue at his home, I knew who I'd call due to his thoroughness, dependability and always punctual arrivals. We requested for Steve to come out in the wee hours of the morning before I and my grandfathers neighbors left for work...(you know, to keep the bug problem on the DL). Those lil varmint pests never stand a chance against Steve and his bug cocktails or spray pack. I am no longer the only one in my fam who uses Hydrex, to keep the creepy and pestie critters away. Not sure what some of the lower reviews were about -- Hydrex was the first company to 100% help us with our horrible rat problem. Josh was extremely thorough and cared for the safety of our pets. We had a very bad rat problem and within about two weeks, with check ins from Josh, it had completely eliminated. I spent hundreds of dollars on rodent spray, peppermint satchels, high frequency plug in devices, took hours of reading Amazon reviews on products, you name it. Found Hydrex a couple months ago when we walked into our backyard to find out fleas had taken over. Signed up for their monthly plan and had them come back a few extra times until we were sure the fleas were gone. Josh did a great job spraying the property to insure we would get a handle on them. Not being able to go outside when you have a toddler is miserable he made sure he did everything possible to get rid of them. I appreciate the extra work and putting up with my frustration. Our house was seemingly built on an ant hill! We've been using Hydrex for the past 13 years and have seen nary an ant! Our technician, Vance, has been serving our place the whole time and has been a real gentleman. He comes when he is scheduled, does a thorough job, and knowledgeably answers our questions. My only gripe is that when I wanted to change the service from monthly to bimonthly, figuring to drop my fee by half, the discount was only about 20%. They soon upped their fees and I'm now paying more than before. The peace of mind is worth it, however. read more

He was very friendly, enthusiastic, and told us exactly what he was going to do and showed us how electro treatment worked instead of having to tent our house which is much more expensive anyway. Recommended by a co-worker, it was easy to make an appointment ( and change my appointment ), my friend also recommended Jessie so I requested Jessie, everyone was friendly and professional, Jessie was great : friendly, punctional and efficient,we had questions and he explained things well. it's been 2weeks and no sign of outdoor ants,fleas,or spiders ( we were losing the battle, had tried natural remedies first,we were getting multiple skin bites etc). We will definitely use them again ! The only thing I wish was different was that it's the same price for indoor/outdoor service and just outdoor service. Next time we'll probably do indoor/outdoor but we didn't do it this time because it just wasn't feasible for all of us to be out of the house for several hours. read more

We have used Hydrex for more than 7 years for termites, being under their service contract. Now that we have sold the home, the first thing told to us even before he inspected is "well, unfortunately you have termites and wood damage". We had the entire house painted, some rotted wood replaced and other areas patched just one year ago. So what does the "inspector" do? Starts jamming his poker stick into the eaves of the house leaving hundreds of dents around the house. He poked the patched ends and pieces out to expose wood that he's deeming needs replacing. Then provides us with a $5400 quote to repair the wood. I'm not sure what we paid for, for the past 7 years or so. No one bothered to mention wood replacement when our house was "inspected" just 2 months ago, only that he found termites and treated them.. Now we have damaged wood that we paid to have patched due to his negligent method of "inspecting". Do not get fooled into thinking their "maintenance" program does you any good. I cannot express how unhappy I am w/ the arrogance of our "inspector", the way he treated our house and the absolutely ridiculous quote we were given. read more

Fabulous company!!! I am blown away by all these negative reviews. It really makes me wonder. (???) Anyway, we have been extremely satisfied Hydrex customers for over ELEVEN years! In 2004, they treated our home for termites. Each year, we have a very detailed inspection. A few years ago, some pesky termites got into an outside wall. Hydrex tech, Dado, solved the problem completely. Not a single return visit from those pests. Their staff is ALWAYS polite whenever I call in with a re-schedule request. Here is the primary reason I decided to write: Since 2004, we have also had the monthly service for ants, etc. I'm an avid gardener, but I just cannot deal with insects (the bad ones). All the service techs have been wonderful. However, for the past eight months, Josh has been the outstanding tech responsible for our route. He is beyond amazing!!! He is polite, professional & very well-spoken. He truly IS an asset to Hydrex. I'm very chatty & quite often I have questions. Josh patiently explains everything! He treats our property with respect. This is a company with outstanding employees who go out of their way to make sure that the job is done right and the customer is happy. Vance is exceptional. He has come to our home for Pest Control on a regular schedule since we started using Hydrex! He has protected our home from ants, creepy crawlers, and rodents, He listens to any concerns and has a vast knowledge of the bug kingdom. It is hard to know how to rank this firm. I selected them because a friend was satisfied with their work. My inspector Pepe was very personable and professional. The technician Shawn was also an excellent communicator and I think he did a thorough job. It is unfortunate that the yelp ratings are so poor. Of 29 reviews, only 6 gave five stars to the company. 16 reviews were at one star. This is a poor ratio, and means that the company as a whole should change their habits. If I had taken time to research the service providers, I would not have chosen Hydrex based on their Yelp reviews -- which I rely on a lot. read more

I would never, ever, ever use Hydrex for any termite issues. We just moved into a home in Coronado California where Hydrex had been servicing it for a few years. The home is loaded with termites and according to all of the termite inspectors I have had out here, the active infestation has been going on a least 4 years solid. I am not an inspector but even I can clearly see the termite damage taking place, plus all of the little crumbs the termites leave behind. Where was Hydrex during all of this as they did their inspections....and collected that fee.I am totally shocked that a termite company can get away with this. read more
