Jake and his crew fumigated my home while I was on a trip to San Francisco. Upon leaving I gave specific instructions on how to lock up the house. The crew ended up locking the house to where no one could enter and SDG&E could not come in to handle the gas. They had to get a locksmith at the house and we had no gas for 2 days waiting for another person from SDG&E come and turn on our gas. We did not have the pleasure of moving forward with Jake from W Squared Termite, but we had SUCH a great interaction with him that I wanted to share with the Yelp community and commend his professionalism. Long story short: when we purchased our home, the prior owner assured us that termite issues were resolved. A few years later we find a pile of termite droppings on our porch and learn that we had been fooled. We called several companies to come out and take a look. Jake was the nicest of the bunch, and the most honest. He did a thorough review, identified many problem spots, and even found a corner where the prior owner tried to hide damage performed. We would have never known! During our home walk through, he had strong communication and listening skills. He understood my reluctance to tent our home since we have young children, but explained why tenting was in fact our best option. He took the time to explain the other options available to us, and the pro's and con's -- which circled back to why tenting was still best for us in the long run. He made me feel comfortable as a potential client. I felt like he was passionate about his expertise and willing to educate me so I better understood what would be going on. I also appreciated that he handles the wood repair services himself. I believe that sets him apart from other big companies that just contract out each of the two phases: tenting (which most all termite companies do since it involves gas, etc.) and then repairs. I think there is significance when the guy who will do the repairs is the one who will also oversee the tenting process. He will make sure that the job done is done right and thoroughly. His prices are competitive and fair. His communication is also on-point. He was quick to respond to my follow-up questions, my scheduling requests, etc. I really appreciated all his work. Jake is a superstar. We have used him several times over the past several years. Our first experience was when we finally called for help with our ant infestation. We had been fighting them for years before seeking a professional. Jake came out and give us a very fair price to treat the property. After we found termite droppings, we had two termite companies come out & recommend fumigation. We brought in Jake from W2 for a 3rd opinion & to make sure tenting was our only option. We told him beforehand that we already had a termite company selected and offered to pay him for his inspection. Jake said his inspections were always free. He told us he did not care if he was the 10th termite company we consulted. He just wanted to make sure we had good information and were not being ripped off. Jake arrived on time and was very professional. His inspection was thorough and he provided very clear, detailed information regarding our termite problem and why fumigation was optimal vs. other treatment options for our particular infestation. Jake never used any type of hard sell or scare tactics & he spoke very highly of his fumigation contractor (all San Diego termite companies use a 3rd party fumigation company). Based on the clarity and quality of the information Jake provided, we decided to give W2 our business for the fumigation and we are very happy that we did. The fumigation company (Beneficial) arrived on time. Jake was also onsite for the start of the tenting. The Beneficial crew had worked together for at least six years, and was fast and clean. They took care of pulling back all the rock, bark, etc. from the foundation line of our home. They removed the fence boards with no damage (other companies told us we had to hire another person to remove them). When the fumigation was done, everything was put back in its place and the house looked as if they were never there. We opted for the tile roof warranty, but thankfully, only one tile was broken during the fumigation. Jake was in constant contact with us via phone/e-mail throughout the entire process. The fumigation of any home is not without its inconveniences, but working with Jake & his company made it as painless/stress-free as possible. It's hard to find a termite company in which you can really believe in and trust. We found that with W2, and we are happy to give them the highest recommendation. read more

I had my home inspected by Jake post-closing just to have a sanity check to make sure there weren't any issues in my home. He took his time and did a thorough inspection and recommendation for the whole property. As he was doing this, I was there along with him, and he broke everything down and explained everything to me in great, easily understandable detail. He went up to my attic and told me that there was a small swarm of termites laying dead on some insulation. He then told me it wasn't a big deal and that my home was not infested or needed to be tented. He also said he could charge me $500 to take care of the problem, but instead he was very honest and insisted instead that I go to Home Depot and spend ~$40 and do it myself because it was an easy job to take care of. He told me what to buy and what active ingredient to look for and how to apply the wood protectant. Jake also explained why a regular home inspector did not mention the termites on his report, because home inspectors are not licensed to handle termite inspections by the state, which made sense because the home inspector would then be liable for anything he says. Jake also pointed out every detail. He said that I should spray some protectant on some exposed wood beams on the roof as well as some exposed wood on the awnings and that I should also screw together some adjoining wood panels. He also said that I should get some clear silicone and apply some to the concrete joints in the garage to keep creepy critters out. Overall, Jake is a stand up and honest guy.
