I was super excited to try this coffee spot in North Bend for the first time and when I suggested it as a meeting spot for breakfast with my book bestie, I was enthused to learn that it's actually her go-to place to get her morning caffeine! The coolest thing about this spot seems to be their rotating specials year round! The lucky charms cold foam my book bestie described from their last year's St. Patrick's day menu sounded drool-worthy. I was super excited to try their Valentine's day offerings. The woman at the counter who took my order was so sweet. She helped me put together the perfect custom drink for me: a 16 oz oat milk dark chocolate mocha with raspberry syrup and raspberry cold foam on top! It was delicious, I loved how fluffy and sweet the cold foam was and the dark chocolate in the mocha was delectably rich. I was also super excited about their diverse pastry selection! I've never seen a raspberry cornetto before and I was super excited to order it. I loved that it was literally like having a croissant with jam which is one of my fave breakfasts! One of my pet peeves is when croissants are too flaky and hard to tear apart with your fingers, but this one was super easy to tear apart and eat, though it still was fairly messy. The cosy atmosphere made it easy for me and my book bestie to spend hours chatting over our drinks. I love the huge windows that allow for so much natural light an incredible view of Mount Sci. Extremely Disappointing Customer Service We stopped at Huxdotter Coffee in North Bend on Friday and ordered a 16 oz PBJ Smoothie, a 16 oz Mango Smoothie, and a ham and cheese croissant through the drive-through. At the window, we received the croissant and the 16 oz PBJ Smoothie, but were handed a 12 oz Mango Smoothie. We immediately pointed out that the drink was the wrong size. Rather than simply acknowledging the mistake and correcting the order, the employee told us that the order had been entered as a 12 oz drink. We reiterated that we had specifically ordered a 16 oz Mango Smoothie. Instead of saying something as simple as, "I'm sorry, we'll remake that for you," we were told that she would have to refund the original charge and then charge us again for the 16 oz drink. Seriously? Apparently, Huxdotter has developed an innovative new approach to customer service: If we make a mistake, the customer gets to fix it. The mistake wasn't ours. We ordered a 16 oz drink, and the employee or the person taking the order entered it incorrectly. Yet instead of taking responsibility for the error and providing the customer service one would reasonably expect, we were essentially given a bureaucratic explanation of why correcting their mistake was going to require additional transactions. We were on our way to an appointment and didn't have time to wait around sorting out an issue that should have taken less than a minute to resolve. We simply said, "Never mind," and left. What is especially disappointing is that this wasn't about the cost of a smoothie. It was about how the situation was handled. Mistakes happen. Good businesses acknowledge them, apologize, and make them right. Telling the customer that they have to go through a refund and repurchase process because the business entered the order incorrectly is simply poor customer service. wow, my partner and I were really into this place. And we must not be the only ones because we were in the area a few different times throughout the day between 8:30 am and 2 pm, and there was always a line of cars in the drive through. They have several alternative milk options, are very reasonably priced and offer $1 refills on drip coffee, and have lots of pastry (including gluten free, vegan, and gluten-free vegan options!) options as well. The medium drip coffee wasn't my all time fav but wasn't bad either! Staff were super nice, and service was quick. There is a huge amount of indoor and outdoor seating; it was a place where you could both be there to read/study or to catch up with friends. The best part is that the outdoor seating has a beautiful view of Mt. Sai, the most popular hike in the area. We will definitely come back for our coffee needs when passing through North Bend. It was perfect for the weather. The cafe also serves food. It's really spacious with high ceilings but I'd highly recommend to sit in the patio to soak in the views of Mount Si. I am a long time customer of Huxdotter - specifically the northbend location. I am really disappointed in the turn it has taken in the last 2 years, specifically the customer service. 90% of the girls who work there have 0 concept of customer service. Every time I have come in the last year (1x a week or so) I am met with a feeling of judgement, annoyance and entitlement from the employees. Even asking a simple question when ordering or at the pickup bar seems to be met with immediate annoyance and defensiveness. I will say Dalia is a sweetheart, and her coworkers could learn a thing or 2 from her..... "Hux energy" which I think is just lotus are okay but are $7-8 which seems a little ridiculous for sparkling water and energy base lol. Huxdotter is a locally owned coffee shop (in Auburn, North Bend, and now Renton!) that always has a line of cars waiting in the drive thru and plenty of customers ordering in as well. Over my many visits, I've tried the: TWIN PEAKS LATTE - I ordered half sweet (as someone who usually likes 50% sweetness at most coffee shops and boba places), afraid that it would be too sweet at full sweetness. However, I didn't find it very flavorful (honestly just tasted like a regular latte), but that was probably my fault as sacrificing sweetness level also means sacrificing flavor. I would get full sweetness/flavor next time when ordering this one. CAMPFIRE MOCHA (seasonal) - my friend and I made a Huxdotter coffee trip just to get this seasonal drink as she had called it the best coffee she's ever had. We both got half sweet and it was the perfect blend of chocolate, marshmallow cream, and graham cracker flavors. It tasted like drinking a liquid s'more! COCONUT CREAM COLD BREW - this is my favorite drink when I go to Huxdotter. The coconut cream is rich, creamy, and has strong coconut flavors that remind me of sipping coconut coffee drinks in Hawaii. I get this one full sweetness with light ice and am always satisfied. Went in on 9/26 and didn't get the girls name who took care of us but she was very sweet. This coffee place is very nice with quite a lot of places to sit at. The coffee I had was the coconut cream cold brew with an extra shot and it was delicious. I love strong coffee and this had to be the best one I had while visiting Washington. I have to unfortunately give this place a low rating for the overall experience. We liked that it was conveniently located near our morning hike. First, they list NO prices anywhere, so you have no idea how much things cost and when you pay with a card they don't even give you an itemized list. For drinks we only ordered 1 20 ounce latte to share. It tasted mostly like milk, I get worried when ordering larger sizes and they just add more milk and not more coffee. Also, the coffee wasn't even hot, which I was hoping for since it was pretty cold outside. We ordered a breakfast burrito and a blueberry scone for food. The burrito was literally a kids size, and everything inside tasted like it came from something frozen. 5/22/22- this was such an awesome find! After hiking Rattlesnake we were craving good espresso. At first we ordered through drive through but needed to use restroom so we went inside. The coffee shop itself is cute and rustic. There were enough seating both indoors and outdoors. The restroom was clean! Huge plus! They have cute merchandise. We ended up getting a white tumbler and have been getting compliments when used here in Hawaii. They also have whole beans for sale. Now on to the coffee. Their Mexican Mocha and lavender iced lattes were excellent. Strong, quality espresso for sure. Customer service was friendly and efficient. I did notice there were flies around the merchandise table, not sure if it needed to be wiped up or something. But overall we enjoyed our visit to Huxdotter and am sad that we are so far away across the Pacific Ocean and can't visit often. read more
