I enjoyed a bourbon vanilla latte (it could have been a little hotter) it was delicious! I also had a gluten free chicken/bacon Sammy. It came on a gluten free bagel which was toasted. It had a great flavor and the chicken was tender. It also had provolone. Not a lot of indoor seating, but lots of outside seating and dogs are allowed. It's a tiny cafe attached to the bike shop. My partner and I absolutely loved this shop while we were living in the area. We were addicted to their lattes and I absolutely loved all their gluten free options. I stopped by Arete while in Northbend after reading all the positive Yelp reviews. While they don't have their own parking lot, there's lots of street parking on the adjacent streets. It took me a little while to find Arete because it shares a space with a skiing/hiking store. With that said, they have a fair amount of seating both indoors and outdoors. Many people were chatting and studying when I arrived. I ordered a basic iced latte with light ice and oat milk. I think it's about $1 extra for plant milk substitutions. My total came to $6. The barista was friendly and I got my order in less than 10 minutes after ordering. The coffee was smooth and stronger than a typical Starbucks coffee in my opinion. I definitely felt the buzz. The pastries are grab-n-go style so the scone was pretty dry. The avocado toast was loaded with enough arugula to fill a salad bowl, but even after scraping off the excess the avocado and eggs were still somehow inedible. Service time was as expected with a crowd, a bit slow. Ambiance is loud. Also had to try to eat the avocado sandwich with limited utensiles. If you want to grab a coffee to go, and you like your coffee bitter, sure. But not a great cafe to have a light breakfast. read more

We took a weekend get away in North Bend and happened to find this spot for coffee. This place captured our attention immediately with the great service they provided. Kind and friendly staff - so much that I wanted to stay and even try out their food. The staff here didn't disappoint and recommended their favorite breakfast burritos which were absolutely BOMB! This place provide your average sit down coffee shop - quiet, but not too quiet where a conversation couldn't take place. This is a coffee bar inside a ski shop. Nice idea for grabbing a cuppa, but not a true place for brunch/breakfast. There is very limited seating in a corner of the store. Service was 10 to 15 minutes for the coffee and the staff was largely inattentive. As a coffee bar perhaps they could succeed if they were better at both coffee and service. But as always, people will want more, but food wasn't the right direction for this crew. The avocado toast was inedible and came with a mat of arugula that I couldn't get through to the tasteless schmear of flavorless avocado that came without salt, lemon. See the photo to understand the comment about the mat. My cappuccino was bitter and certainly Starbucks does better (NOTE: I am not necessarily a Starbux fan). The scone was not heated and was supposed to be bacon, cheese. Reminiscent of sawdust as it crumbled during eating. After spending $40 on this debacle, our very unmerry gang moved down the street to another coffee bar that was much more to our liking. read more

Anywho, I ordered northwest cubano panini and strawberry matcha latte (which I saw on their website, but didn't find it on their menu). I ordered my food to go since I had places to go and places to see. The panini had the meats, cheese, and pickled red onion, did it for me. I loved the pairing of the matcha and strawberry, very much spring vibes even though the weather was too cold for my liking. My sandwich also came with chips, which was an added bonus. All in all, good eats and drink. They do have online ordering, which is an added bonus. read more

I stayed at the Salish lodge and looked for nearby breakfast and coffee spots. I decided to try out Arete and I am so glad I did! My conversations with the staff were so wonderful! They are engaging and kind and thoughtful. I loved that they would make breakfast items to order because I'm dairy free. My oat milk latte was amazing and my breakfast sandwich delicious! The inside of the cafe has lots of seating and great music is playing which is lovely. I came back the next day with my husband because I loved it so much. I know you will love Arete! read more

I'm sitting outside on the patio, enjoying my monday afternoon after a hike. Three employees come sit down on the table next to me, and one proceeds to give horrible, loud feedback to one of the employees. It was incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional. The employee getting the feedback started to cry (which is you heard how cruel and nit-picky... you wouldn't blame her). It was hard to be around. It's sad because I come here weekly and love this place, but unfortunately won't be back. I don't want to see people publicly humiliated like that. read more

It wasn't crowded like a few other spots in town and offered delicious, healthy options which was exactly what we were looking for. Located inside of an outdoor shop full of hiking gear, Arête also makes the perfect stop for those going on a hike nearby or a post-hike lunch. We tried the Sasquatch Breakfast Burrito, Florentine Burrito, and the Breakfast Sammy that included tomato jam, prosciutto, egg, and arugula on an English muffin--YUM! The owner and staff were incredibly kind and had great energy which made it the perfect start to our day. I also love that they are mindful about single-use waste and recommend a cup for here. Super cute cafe with lots of seating inside and a nice patio outside. It's part of the gear store which is nice to get a coffee while shopping but also has a large separated area to sit for a while. The food selection is good with several different breakfast sandwiches and burritos. I got the florentine breakfast burrito which was big and excellent and the coffee also very good. Arête Coffee Bar was by far the best coffee I have ever tasted. It is an extremely small, sustainable business inside an outdoor store downtown North Bend, WA. We personally had their lavender honey latte that had a super airy texture; the combination of the lightweight lavender flavor with the sweetness of the honey was to die for. My boyfriend had their grilled PB&J which looked amazing. I tried their coffee cake which was delectable. I really love that the owners decided to use local coffee beans as well. read more
