Chickpea tuna sandwich and mushroom soup
    Greta S.

What a wonderful surprise to arrive for a late late lunch and get to listen to poetry reading!! The chickpea tuna sandwich was yummy... I would order that again and again. The latte with oat milk was very nice and the mushroom soup was fabulous. I should note, everything we ate was vegan!

This place is so good! It's an adorable little vegan place tucked into historic downtown. The food was amazing, I had a sandwich and my bestie had the classic breakfast. We could bring our dog, which we always love!!! The service was well paced, especially for sitting outside in January!

The Black Dog is such a charming little café, and the best part? Everything is 100% vegan! They offer a great variety of options, from savory dishes to delightful vegan desserts. What's even better is their support for the local community with student music recitals, open mic nights, and more--such a nice touch. We tried a couple of sandwiches, quesadillas, and the pumpkin bar for dessert. Everything was delicious, but the pumpkin bar was the real standout--absolutely loved it! If you're looking for a cozy spot with tasty vegan food and a community-focused vibe, The Black Dog is definitely worth a visit.

Sorry, I ate it before a pic but the to go package says it all.

Service is so warm and inviting. The eclectic atmosphere makes for a fun conversation. I had the Reuben Salad, a deconstructed vegan Reuben Sandwich. It totally hit the spot with lots of flavor, will be having again. Leaving me refreshed and light for my walk through Snoqualmie. This is a unique, lovely place to relax your soul.

On a Monday, the downtown area of Snoqualmie is pretty dead, but leave it to this business to be open. The off day apparently is their most successful. It sounded kind of sad, but an all vegan restaurant is not exactly appealing to most. Vegan American food, as in, full of chemicals. The restaurant has shifted to a completely vegan model as I did note their few meat option from earlier menus were no longer present. I ordered the least chemically induced item in the form of the Pita with Hummus and fresh veggies. This was incredibly fresh and still very filling. Hummus all day, ev'ry day! The shop is charming and filled with antique furniture and knick knacks. Food took AWHILE to get to us and we were in a hurry. Definitely not my first choice and despite the wait, they came in pretty clutch for being one of the few businesses open for a much needed lunch break.

I felt like I walked into a cafe in Austin, TX in the mid nineties. It's super artsy, kitschy, and has a very cool vibe. Lots of space to chill out, do some reading or writing, have a drink or some vegan grub. I had a chai, and my son had an Italian soda, both were a hit. The service was great. They are very kind and attentive. I realize this is not for everyone, but I gave it five stars for being a unique gem with a positive, creative vibe.

Beetroot soup with a hint of dill

I've lived in the Snoqualmie Valley some 22 years and somehow never managed to eat at the Black Dog. Usually due to the crowds at various live music events. But today, managed to grab lunch and now I am wondering why it took so long. Missus had the beetroot soup - a rich creamy soup with magnificent texture and hint of dill. The creaminess was due entirely to the well puréed beets, as it had just a hint of actual cream. The included bread was toasted perfectly and thick. Really a great soup! My BLTA had vegan bacon but guess what - it worked! Paired with fresh avocados and on toasted fresh bread, it was fresh and hearty. Drinks were two well executed lattes. Service was prompt, friendly and not at all slow. It won't be long before we return.

My friend and I stopped in here for a lunch after looking at the falls and we were not disappointed. We were so happy to find a vegan-friendly restaurant in Snoqualmie. We decided to split a soup, salad, and sandwich. The caesar salad was just what we wanted- it was fresh, cold, crunchy, and tasty. The BLT was also super yummy. The sandwich was served with chips and fruit. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The decor inside is so charming as well. Next time I make a trip out to Snoqualmie I will definitely be back here!

After a visit to North Bend, and Snoqualmie Falls, we found ourselves dining outside at The Black Dog Cafe. It's on Railroad Ave just across from the enormous 100 year old trees and a vintage train. This place is a local treasure-- if I lived in Snoqualmie, I'd frequent it regularly. In normal times (pre & post covid) it hosts local musicians in a living room type back room. Lots of cool things to buy upfront. I had The Bing Crosby-- a yummy sandwich of turkey, havarti, avocado and tomato on homemade bread. Served with Tim's Cascades and fruit. My wonderful companion said her quiche was, "Mighty tasty." We chose it randomly, but it was just the vibe we needed.

I had the Bang Bang and it was delicious!!! The blend of the cheese, mayonnaise (vegan?), vegetables, and deli was perfect! The chips that was included was also a perfect blend. The other thing about this was the bathroom. They are gender neutral and very clean. I love the country feel of the entire environment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The other thing I loved about this place was that the meals were healthy! I'm always looking for healthier options in the menu and everything check that box. Not a heavy meal for me but it hit the spot! Definitely recommend this place to stop by.

On the rainy morning that we stopped by, there was only one other party in the cafe having breakfast and playing board games. The woman who greeted us behind the counter was warm and friendly. If you enjoy flavored lattes, there are plenty of options here. They even have alcoholic flavorings they can add in -- think Bailey's, to spice up your drink if you're looking to jump start your morning in a different kind of way. I ended up being boring and got an oat milk cappuccino. The espresso in my drink was strong and the oat milk was frothed nicely. In addition to my drink, I also ordered a spinach topped brioche bun, which tasted great warmed up; the brioche was nice and fluffy. If you're looking for a place to sit down for a bit to get some work done, this would also be a great place to go, with plenty of seating available and free Wi-Fi. For the friendly service alone, I would 100% stop by again for a morning coffee.

The coolest thing about this spot seems to be their rotating specials year round! The lucky charms cold foam my book bestie described from their last year's St. Patrick's day menu sounded drool-worthy. I was super excited to try their Valentine's day offerings. The woman at the counter who took my order was so sweet. She helped me put together the perfect custom drink for me: a 16 oz oat milk dark chocolate mocha with raspberry syrup and raspberry cold foam on top! It was delicious, I loved how fluffy and sweet the cold foam was and the dark chocolate in the mocha was delectably rich. I was also super excited about their diverse pastry selection! I've never seen a raspberry cornetto before and I was super excited to order it. I loved that it was literally like having a croissant with jam which is one of my fave breakfasts! One of my pet peeves is when croissants are too flaky and hard to tear apart with your fingers, but this one was super easy to tear apart and eat, though it still was fairly messy. The cosy atmosphere made it easy for me and my book bestie to spend hours chatting over our drinks. I love the huge windows that allow for so much natural light an incredible view of Mount Sci. I'd definitely love to come back with my watercolours and paint it. Since this is my book bestie's fave coffee shop spot, I'm sure we'll be back here soon! I'm super excited to keep exploring their seasonal drinks.

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service…read more We stopped at Huxdotter Coffee in North Bend on Friday and ordered a 16 oz PBJ Smoothie, a 16 oz Mango Smoothie, and a ham and cheese croissant through the drive-through. At the window, we received the croissant and the 16 oz PBJ Smoothie, but were handed a 12 oz Mango Smoothie. We immediately pointed out that the drink was the wrong size. Rather than simply acknowledging the mistake and correcting the order, the employee told us that the order had been entered as a 12 oz drink. We reiterated that we had specifically ordered a 16 oz Mango Smoothie. Instead of saying something as simple as, "I'm sorry, we'll remake that for you," we were told that she would have to refund the original charge and then charge us again for the 16 oz drink. Seriously? Apparently, Huxdotter has developed an innovative new approach to customer service: If we make a mistake, the customer gets to fix it. The mistake wasn't ours. We ordered a 16 oz drink, and the employee or the person taking the order entered it incorrectly. Yet instead of taking responsibility for the error and providing the customer service one would reasonably expect, we were essentially given a bureaucratic explanation of why correcting their mistake was going to require additional transactions. We were on our way to an appointment and didn't have time to wait around sorting out an issue that should have taken less than a minute to resolve. We simply said, "Never mind," and left. What is especially disappointing is that this wasn't about the cost of a smoothie. It was about how the situation was handled. Mistakes happen. Good businesses acknowledge them, apologize, and make them right. Telling the customer that they have to go through a refund and repurchase process because the business entered the order incorrectly is simply poor customer service. Unfortunately, this experience left such a bad impression that we won't be going back. There are plenty of coffee shops willing to treat their customers better.
