We swung by Chickadee Bakeshop for a quick breakfast before exploring the falls. They had a great spread of baked goods...including some gluten free options. Sampling was a fun touch! I tried the blueberry muffin but then ordered the cinnamon roll...and immediately regretted not sticking with the muffin. They warmed up the roll, which helped, but it was still just okay. The muffin was the real winner. There's plenty of seating and parking was a breeze, but I'm sure on a busy weekend, it gets more challenging. This local bakery is in the heart of downtown Snoqualmie. I have tried several of their baked goods thanks to my sister who has visited multiple times and shared her purchases. She says the bakery is cozy and cute, plus the staff is always really kind. During her latest visit, one of the employees added a free cupcake into her box at no extra cost! Most recently, we had the following baked goods: + BLUEBERRY MUFFINS ($17 for 4): The muffins were really moist and a generous handful of blueberries were baked into each one. Apparently, they used wild blueberries for this batch! I enjoyed one for breakfast, but it would have also made for an excellent afternoon tea pairing. The muffin itself had the perfect sweetness inside, but the top was covered in coarse sugar sprinkles (which added a little crunchy texture), and I could have gone without those. + BROWNIE ($5): The brownies are huge and can be easily split between two people. We happened to get a middle piece (my favorite!), but unfortunately, its edges were dry and slightly crumbly. The center was kind of fudgy and there were large chocolate chips sprinkled throughout, but I probably wouldn't get this again. + BOSTON CREAM CROISSANT ($6): Taste-wise, this was good, but I wouldn't consider it a croissant since it was so dense. It had layers, but they were doughy, rather than airy and flaky like I would expect. The vanilla custard was smooth and the chocolate on top was decadent, so it had the Boston Cream characteristics, but more so resembled a donut with the buttery flavor of a croissant. This was quite heavy, so I was full after eating just half. + SNACKIN' CUPCAKE ($4.50): So good! Reminiscent of a Hostess cupcake, the chocolate cake was really moist, filled with a light cream and topped with a rich chocolate frosting. I ate every crumb! On another occasion, we heated up their take-and-bake CINNAMON ROLLS. These were alright, but I personally thought they could have used more cinnamon. That said, they weren't very gooey, but the dough did have that nice yeasty chew to it. It came with a small container of sugary icing, but I would have much preferred a cream cheese frosting instead. The items we've had from here have been hit or miss, but I love local bakeries like these, so I'd say it's worth coming back if we want to try their seasonal sweets or simply just pick up our favorites. read more

We stumbled across this cute bake shop while exploring Snoqualmie. Walking in the clerk greeted us right away. It was very clean, and the decor was welcoming. The baked goods were right on display, so much to choose from. If you didn't see it in the case, ask, they probably just couldn't fit it in! There was quite a bit of seating available, in the front, and along the side of the counter. The pastries were fresh, ans very delicious. I had the ham and cheese croissant, and it was perfect! A but of salt on the top really brought it all together. I didnt notice if they offered gluten free options, but there was a selection of items from a bakery in North Bend that were gluten free! Croissant with chocolate!!! Sweet roll with Nutella Scone and mocha! Delicious mocha! Scone was yum- not dry at all!! The croissant with chocolate was the piece de delicious! They loaded that baby with chocolate- fresh out of the oven! The croissant was light fluffy and glorious! The were super busy but the customer's service was spot on- they answered questions, didn't rush us, and were totally chill! Cute little local bakery with both classic and unique treats. It was so hard to decide but ended up trying the tres leches cake with fresh strawberry and the Dubai chocolate brownie. My kiddo really loved his cake. I have had some amazing, authentic tres leches and this was not that, however, it was tasty. I would say it was a bit more dense than expected.The Dubai chocolate brownie was a layer of brownie with a middle filling of what looked and tasted like a play on pistachio-tahini cream and crispy kadayif- it was not a shredded texture but flaky crispies- topped with a fudge layer and pistachios. It was very tasty and very much satisfied my chocolate craving. They had samples at the register of a few items and the basic brownie was to-die for. So gooey and chocolatey. Looking forward to coming back and trying more treats and supporting this locally owned treasure. read more
