We came here around 5. We had to wait for about 30 minutes. We were seated and our surfer guy was awesome as a waiter. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We got the crab dip with pita chips which was really yummy. We had a few different drinks. The chunky monkey was a super great fun drink. You def can't taste the alcohol in it but I really liked the chocolate syrup. My friend ordered the Mahi-mahi and it was super dry. I had the Thai salmon which was delicious. PAY ATTENTION TO TIMING! Drawn in by the Happy Hour Specials (.20cent shrimp (increments of 20) & .40cent wings (increments of 6)), I was glad I read on Yelp how crowded they can get. Happy Hour runs from 3-5pm, we arrived at 2:15pm, figuring we'd just try to get seated early, order something small, and ease into happy hour, but it seemed everyone else either had this idea. We were told we would have an hour and a half wait, so we found a spot to hang out in their large outdoor picnic area seating and waited exactly that long. Inside was a very small area, occasionally during our wait we tried to find bar seating but lots of local bar flys kept the chairs tied up. Once we were seated we put in our first round of happy hour selections (40 shrimps & 18 wings-12 hot and 6 naked). Side Note: I noticed it said on the menu anyone only ordering from the happy hour menu would be charged $1 for water-when the waitress asked what I wanted to drink I told her honestly nothing (drinking too much water while breastfeeding is miserable-so I really didn't want anything), but she proceeded to tell me 'she would get in trouble with her boss if she didn't charge me for water'- so I figured if we had to pay $2 for water we didn't want to drink, we might as well order the $3 fries off the non-happy hour menu to null out the water cost. This was my only woe, what dumb nickle and diming. Anyways, the shrimp and wings were sort of tiny, but packed lots of flavor. The shrimp was steamed and smothered in old bay- served with hot butter & cocktail sauce, but they were so juicy and well-seasoned I didn't need to dip them in anything. The naked wings were crispy on the outside with moist inside center. There were admittedly a few really tiny wings on the plate that left me feeling they shouldn't have counted as one wing, but that's whatcha get for cheap happy hour. The hot wings had a really good heat on the sauce, but they didn't put a lot on. I made sure for round 2 to ask for separate sauce. Side note: I thought it was ridiculous adding on blue cheese, ranch, or celery with your wings was the same cost as the wing itself. Again, dumb nickle and diming. Overall, we ordered 80 shrimps & 24 wings, a side plate of fries, and they ended up charging us for one water, and our bill was only about $33 so not too bad for happy hour indulging. We didn't even need to order entrees because everything was quite filling. Side Note: They unfortunately have a really depressing alcohol list. Only a few beer options, they really focus on their specialty margaritas, but compared to other drink options in the area I thought their mixed drinks were overpriced and smaller quantity. So more of a 'food place' than 'grab a drink' place. A fun place to stop while in OBX-definitely recommend eating as many shrimp as possible; just make sure to get there early & hungry! read more

Food was good. I ordered the Thai Chili Glazed Tuna. It was good but not spicy which I thought I was getting and it did not have enough glaze for the fish. My dish was a little undercooked that the waitress gave and it was warm not hot. Family had the Cocomo Mahi that they said was very good and the Thai tuna tacos that were good also. this place was recommended by friends who have owned a home in Nags Head for years. It was our anniversary so we decided to give it a try. With the whole Covid situation, the place was set up really safe. There was good spacing between the seats at the bar and excellent spacing throughout the restaurant. Once we sat in our little private space at the bar, the server was fantastic. She constantly checked on us and provided us with our food and drink quickly. We got there early enough to enjoy some of their happy hour specials. they are happy hour specials included $.20 shrimp sold in increments of 20. They also had buffalo wings for $.40 each sold in increments of 6. The shrimp and the wings were really tiny. I don't know if I would pay more than $.20 and $.40. I did order a popcorn shrimp dinner which was very tasty and came with two sides that were served hot. Pricing is excellent. We will definitely come back. read more

I have eaten here a few times. The food is always tasty and plentiful. I have tried something different each time and it has never failed. The wait staff has always been helpful and pleasant. We decided to eat here based on Yelp reviews and we are so glad we did. There was a 45 minutes wait but that gave us time to walk down the the beach for a little while. They also have a cute cat roaming around the property and he's super friendly. Our waitress was awesome and our food was delicious! My only complaint was the queso came with very few chips. We asked for more and she brought them...but we were charged extra for them. Overall a great experience though and I'd highly recommend. read more

This was a pure disappointment. With so many places in the area, we came in here and left sad at our choice. My wife had come here years ago during the summer season and remembered it being a good choice. When we came in we were seated right away. We were given a happy hour menu and told we could only get one order in during happy hour prices so to make sure we ordered everything we wanted quick. I saw beer steamed shrimp so we ordered 20 @ $0.20 each. Awesome deal! Then, while we waited for our shrimp, we picked out dinner. We opted to share a seafood sampler with scallops, fish, oysters and shrimp. We got fries and coconut rice as the two sides. I was bummed because I was considering fish tacos and decided to split the sampler instead. Thank goodness she talked me into sharing because the fish was the same fish in the fish tacos and it was the worst. It was like two dry fish sticks - inedible. The shrimp was fine. The scallops were fine. They forgot the oysters when they brought it out so they wound up giving us 3 on a separate plate instead of the 2 it was supposed to have. The French fries and rice were fine. The standout was really the steamed shrimp on the happy hour menu. We should have ordered nothing but those shrimp and never attempted an entree. We got a few slices of pie to go for the family - peanut butter and key lime and those were also way better than the entree. Stick to happy hour options and items from the bar. read more

We went 2 different times and in total ordered ordered the pickles, the wings, the crab soup, quesadilla and the pan seared seafood platter. Kim, the manager, got all the sauces right the 1st time as well. It was extremely crowded every time we went there so make sure that you call ahead and give them plenty of time to make your order just in case For both our orders it only took about 15 to 25 minutes as they promised. This was absolutely THE worst "restaurant" experience I have ever had. We had our name on the wait list for a table but ended up sitting at the bar and ordering drinks/apps instead. We were told if we were ordering food at the bar we had to remove our name from the table wait list, which we did. After drinks and apps, we decided to stay for dinner and asked the hostess for a table. It was after happy hour so there quite a few tables open and available. She obliged. We were ready to close out the bar tab and sit for dinner. At this point the bartender, "HEIDI L", completely lost her mind. She said we couldn't sit at a table since we had ordered food at the bar (??), and accused us of LYING that we took our name off the table waiting list. Kept calling us liars and simply would not let up. We ultimately paid our bar tab, left no tip for "HEIDI L"and left. So she lost our tip, and the restaurant lost probably around $200 for dinner on our party of 4 because of HEIDI L's horrible customer service and obnoxious behavior. I will NEVER EVER patronize this restaurant again. Horrendous experience, too bad you can't negative stars or I would. read more

Thank you to this awesome place! The staff works so hard. Customers come for the happy hour and the friendships they've made. We have been here twice in the past month. Once we sat with a group of about 8 people. Our server worked so hard getting everyone all their shrimps, wings, tacos and pitchers of beer. The steam shrimp was .20 a piece sold in quantities of 20. Wings and tacos were also happy priced. Everything was cooked fresh and tasted so yummy! Last night hubby and I sat at the bar and again our bar server was happily serving lots of people. Me and my wife try to come every year to the Outer Banks we always stay in the Kill Devil Hills area but it was always our tradition to stop by Hurricane Mo's our first day for lunch and so far every year we have gone there they never have disappointed. The food is so good. The crab dip, crabcake sandwich, the club wrap, the fries are the perfect crisp (i can't get enough of) and last the chicken strips were absolute fantastic. We always enjoy seeing all the sweet feral cats wandering around and we always donate for them. We plan to RETURN soon as always. read more

Food was good, but not special. One of our guests said her shrimp were overcooked and not edible, the other meals were surprisingly small portioned. Word of advice, another scoop of sticky rice on all of the dishes that come with rice is a cheap and easy way to make the meal larger! Dare County Veterans Discount List I had lunch at Hurricane Mo's on 2/10/25, enjoyed the flounder plate for a price over $17 with the tax. The food and service were great, as always. I have been dining at this establishment for many years, having visited more than 100 times. I also bring friends and family members who visit from out of state to this restaurant. I was disappointed when I showed my Dare County Veteran Discount card but was told discounts are only after 4 PM when they change to a dinner menu. They consider the flounder plate a lunch special, but they give you 2 menus with one saying lunch special and the flounder is not on that menu. They're listed as offering a discount on the Dare County Veterans Discount web site. This was the first time I used the Veterans Discount card here. I try to support Dare County businesses on Veterans Discount list, but I am not opposed to businesses that do not offer veteran discounts. I am opposed to a business that states they give a discount and do not. This is the first business on the list that that I have used that has not given a discount. Really just a minor thing as the discount is just a few bucks. I did leave over a 20% tip on the meal but only giving 2 stars for my review for listing on the veteran's discount list. Perfect restaurant for a delicious meal at the beach! I was in the mood for something light and got the seared scallops with coconut rice and Asian slaw. Everything was delicious! Why no take out? Very disappointing that we've tried several times even when not busy and been denied. I have a very sick homebound elderly woman who loves your unconventional she crab soup and we've had to find another restaurant to accommodate her. The amount of revenue left on the table by not doing take out is big. With 2 behind the bar and normally 2 at the host stand you would think that management could figure this out. We'd love to go and dine there again but without the means of togo it's pointless. So sad because we love your place. read more

Pardon this long post- but this was a bad night. We called prior to coming and let them know we had a service animal. Ok they said. We arrived and again said service animal. We waited and were seated about 15 feet from the bar. My dog sat on my lap. Dinner went fine. We asked for the bill and were preparing to leave when the bartender came over (long dark hair female) and loudly said "you can't put your dog on the table." I said oh no I wouldn't do that. She then said "well technically he should be on the floor." I said the floor? I didn't know that. She says "well he shouldn't even be in here he's not a service dog." I said he is a service dog. She raises her voice so everyone can hear and says "well you can't put him on the table!" First off I would never do that. Maybe it looked that way from the bar area. At this point I'm so embarrassed I just say ok ok... and I get up and leave. I'm not sure what I could have done differently- I'm still learning about all the ada and rights. But thank you to Hurricane Mos for making me feel completely uncomfortable because of my disability. If her goal was to look like a mean person- mission accomplished. If you wanted to make someone with a disability stay home and hide- good job. Mission accomplished. I came back to my room and bawled my eyes out. I highly recommend anyone with a special request be very careful at this establishment. I want to end by saying my server was wonderful and the food was very good. read more

This restaurant has a very long wait for larger families we waited over an hour to eat some mediocre food. We started off with some fried pickles which were quite nice however there is no reason we should be waiting this long for some mid-class food we could go get at a smaller restaurant. Had a very pleasant drink and appetizer at the upstairs bar here. I had the tuna bites, my wife the Caesar salad and shrimp. Both great and good sized servings - no need for a main course! Friendly barkeep and a good live music guitarist. Only bummer is that it does not appear to be open on Sunday, so we'll try the restaurant. Highly recommended! Followed up today (Sunday) in the main restaurant, although we sat at the bar. Again really great service, not intrusive but always friendly and helpful. My wife's meal could have been a little warmer (Cocomo Mahi, or something similar) but my seafood sampler was great. Irish coffee and almond joy cake as dessert were delicious. I chose the Cervaza para los Bandidos by Lonerider in a16 oz can, and it was very good. We ordered the She Crab soup (excellent) and the Hatteras clam chowder. My friend and I went here on a Friday for lunch before hitting the beach. We wanted to eat outside and were told we had a wait, but somehow got lucky and were brought to a table within a minute. We got the perfect spot tucked away in a corner, and it's great how the space is fully shaded. Our server was very nice and attentive. I ordered one of the specials, which was a buffalo chicken sandwich with blue cheese and bacon. It was messy to eat, but really tasty! I need to set the record straight here. Before someone else wastes a valuable day of their vacation eating dinner at this restaurant. This page said that they had the "best" She Crab soup on the entire island. I don't know what happened to the original chef who made that 'MAGIC' happen (because obviously the pictures from 6 to 8 years ago present a much different photo of a thinner, darker colored, more sherry infused version of this She Crab soup) but, my friends, that cook does not exist at this restaurant anymore...... or they weren't kind enough to pass down the delicious recipe before they quit.....this glop of a soup was the worst tasting bowl of Elmers glue with literally no crab in it at all, or maybe it was imitation crab(??) and a bunch of pimentos. Thick AF. It literally tasted like somebody dumped a can of Campbell's soup New England clam chowder into a bowl. (minus the clams). Some highlights instead were the ribeye steak. I suggest ordering that medium rare, the baked potato, which you can't really screw up, the fried okra was delicious with the tangy dipping sauce. And, the Keylime pie at the end definitely made up for this average & disappointing dinner. Actually, even the fried mahi-mahi on the children's plate tasted 100 times better than their featured she crab soup. Go to Charleston South Carolina or down in Murrells Inlet of Myrtle Beach, and you'll get THE best she crab soup of your life! read more
