Surprisingly stumbled onto this place with good food and service! Plenty of food options available.

Food was pretty good. Check-in process can be tough for a large party with kids since they can be a bit unpredictable and since they have a very strict policy on seating: -Entire party must be present to be seated (like literally IN the building-they wouldn't even seat the half of our party that was present while the other half put their strollers away in the car since there's no elevator to the second floor) -2 hour time limit -No adding to the party once seated They did have a bar area upstairs and a nice view upstairs. We enjoyed their Pogue sandwich, which was grilled chicken breast, bacon, onion rings, Bro sauce on a bun, and subbed my fries for a side salad with balsamic. My bf got the fish and chips and it had an extra thin, extra crunchy batter with a meaty fish interior. Def one of the better ones we've had out here. Service was pretty friendly and they do hustle here. This place fills up, even right after opening so def plan accordingly. They have patio seating but it's been so humid and hot that that was def a no-go for us. Great little Tex-Mex Tequila cocktail (spicy pineapple marg) that's worth a try. read more

We visited here in the off season and I have to say it was "just ok". Most of the staff didn't not seem to have much personality. The artichoke dip and chips was good- the Italian sub was good but the chop with chicken was not great. It had waaaaayyyy too many conflicting flavors- from pico de gallo that tasted like it was ready to be thrown out to a green salsa, lots of lime flavor and something (not sure if it was the black beans or rice) but it tasted like dirt. I rarely can't find something positive in a dish but this one was not great. Reading the menu- all the ingredients sounded great together but this bowl just didn't work for me. read more

We really enjoyed our experience here . Friendly service and Nice drink selection. We sat outside on the second floor. It was comfortable and they had TV's outside . We ordered a few appetizers- tuna , spinach artichoke and loaded cheesy chips . They were all delicious. The parking area was busy but we were able to find a spot. Three stars because we've had two cases of food poisoning after giving Bernie's food a try and then a second try...but for drinks and a view in this area, Bernie's rooftop is pretty solid. If you're visiting from Virginia you can get your Orange Crush fix fulfilled here with freshly squeezed orange juice that they add right in front of you with their crush machine. The service here is a little weird as well. The last time I was here we came during an off hour just to grab a drink and enjoy the view. Their rooftop patio was empty, so we thought we'd grab a drink at the bar and then a seat. The bartender sent us outside saying that a waitress would be over to take our order. We sat and waited and after some time gave up and went back into the bar to see if they'd allow us to order from there since no one had come by (plus we were just grabbing one drink each, no food) and they made an exception. This was earlier in the summer season so maybe they were working out the kinks? Who knows. TL;DR: Visit Bernie's at your own risk. read more

I'd give Bernie's Brother a solid 4 stars. We arrived here at 5pm on a Saturday & I had 10 people in my group & they quickly got a table for us. So lucky we ate at this time 'cause after 7pm it was getting packed! I got the Pub Style Fish & Chips: (7/10). The fish was good, the beer batter was nice & crispy as well as their waffle fries. I'd pass on the cole slaw as it lacked flavor. My partner ordered the Margarita Shrimp Angel Hair Pasta & he said it was delicious (9/10). He said it was full of flavor, filling, & had tons of shrimp! I took a bite of my friend's Cuban Style Steak (cooked medium rare) & oh man, that steak was so tender & juicy! I don't know what they put in the marinade for the steak, but it was so delicious & the chimichurri sauced on top was the bomb! Some of my friends got a few of their cocktails & margaritas, & they said it was just decent since there wasn't much alcohol in all of the drinks. Overall, Bernie's Brother is a great restaurant. We were recommended to eat at this location, for their good food. We arrived, and the wait was 90 minutes. We were fine with waiting, and gave them our phone number and told to expect a text when our table was ready. We decided to take a walk across the street and do some shopping, until our table was ready. Overall, it took around 60 min, and got our text and got seated. The inside of the restaurant wasn't huge, yet they also have outside seating too, a downstairs and upstairs. We ordered some drinks, and loaded cheese chips. The drinks and cheese chips came out quickly, and hot. The kids really enjoyed the cheesey chips as an appetizer. We ordered multiple taco dinners, chicken fingers and fish and chips. All the food tasted great, the tacos were three tacos and actually loaded with more meat than we anticipated. The reason for the 3 stars, the service simply wasn't great. Not sure if short handed, but our table and the table next to us, once our food got served, our server was non existent. We even had to wait to get our bill, she was lingering around the kitchen or walking around. I'd say if service improves, the overall experience of this restaurant is really solid! read more

Our party of 18+ came here for dinner after arriving in OBX. They don't take reservations, but they were able to get us seated on their busy Easter Sunday which was appreciated. We were afraid that the holiday crowds would impact us but thankfully that wasn't the case. We did wait about 30 minutes and we had to split up into two tables but they were at least nearby. I ordered a mango cart and the Brazilian Steak Carnival for my entree. It was really good. I ordered my steak medium well and should have done medium but I still enjoyed it. The filtered water was nasty according to everyone in our party who ordered it so I skipped that. Maybe the filter needs changing? Overall it was a decent meal at a decent price. read more

Place is clean, southern decor, nice overall. Big table, staff overwhelmed, had to ask for refills on drinks. Food came relatively quickly, but for the cost, not a lot of food. Got the fish and chips, 2 small pieces of fish and maybe 6 waffle fries. Burgers were good but again, less than 10 fries. White pizza was probably the best. Got a couple margaritas, came in small plastic cups, lots of ice. Overall food tasted good. Expensive food for a tourist trap, but expect more food for the $$ read more

I like coming here for the frozen cocktails! The pina colada is super sweet (and doesn't really taste like it has much pineapple in it TBH), but honestly perfectly fine for a hot day. I love coconut so I will always come here at least once when visiting Corolla for it. Now the food.. is perfectly average. I feel like for Corolla, it's probably above average? (since there aren't many places to begin with). I think if you're looking to eat out, drink some frozen cocktails, Bernie's Brother is definitely a great place to vibe out for a bit. The two things that slightly bothered me on my most recent visit: 1) Lots of flies at the bar. They were flying around and I would have to try to shoo them away constantly. Somewhat annoying. 2) The bartender was super busy fulfilling drink orders, so it took a while for us to get our food order in with him. Kind of hard to flag him down. Also, make sure you get here EARLY, otherwise you'll be waiting a while to get a table, or you'll have to sit at the bar like I did. read more

For an appetizer, we got the loaded cheesy chips. Omg they were SO good. There was a moment where I debated ordering a second round of the chips. The menu is pretty diverse so there's something here for everyone. We ordered the bang bang shrimp, a pep pizza, and two chicken sandwiches for entrees. Pep pizza was cheesy and I loved the thickness of the dough. The bang bang shrimp had the right amount of kick to it as well did the blackened chicken sandwich. We went here on Sunday and had to wait 1 and a half hours to be seated. Drinks were pretty good nothing crazy. We ordered coconut shrimp for appetizer and that was amazing, I loved it. I got the fish tacos for entree and it wasn't very good it was just lacking flavor and felt bland. The service was pretty good though very nice.
