Chicken wings with hot and BBQ sauce on the side.

3.5 stars is fair. Go for the chicken wings. It's a hole in the wall locals joint, but the wings are Huge, and really good. They keep it simple, with hot sauce or without. I would've appreciated if they fully plucked the wings though, and gotten those random feathers out of there.

About three times a year me and my boyfriend make a little trip about a 2 Hour Dr. getaway and our go to spot is a Barrys Walnut Island Restaurant and large they have 12 rooms and each room has a different theme and of course different sizes to accommodate families and smaller or larger groups we love their butterfly room and their beach room and they're cowboy themed rooms we just recently tried room 11 which is a chic room with Very up-to-date decor and it has a really nice Jacuzzi that we have lots of fun with! It is on the island so cell phone reception is not that great but who needs a cell phone when you're on a vacation and want to get away! The best part is that it's connected to the actual barrys restaurant so you have to go to the restaurant to book your room or you can call of course and they have been able to leave the keys in the room for us if we arrive late or out of the restaurant hours. Being connected to a restaurant you can just walk right out of your room to the restaurant they have a full bar and amazing food so you really don't have to get in your car unless you need to go to Food Lion which is a three minute drive from Barry's ( also 2 gas stations - a Hardee's - Dunkin' - and Mexican restaurant ) all next to eachother just 3 minutes away!!! The food was great and on weekends they have DJs and live music. It's literally right on the water so fishing definitely available they have a nice dock that goes out for views fishing and even can grab a drink and just sit and watch the sun set. We love this place and definitely will be back for sure ! Also... SANDY WAS THE BEST! Very good bartender , nice and very attentive. See you soon Donna!!

Great little place on the way to Corona! Nothing fancy, but very nice! Stopped in to stay the night & Beat The traffic on Saturday Morning going into Corona! Older motel, but it's been remodeled and kept up very well. Very Clean! For Reservations the Staff was prompt calling us back and very friendly! Reasonable prices, we had a 3 bedroom unit for $175.00. Went to the restaurant for dinner and all of our meals were great! Outside Waterfront dining was a great start to our vacation! Crab cake & hush puppies were delicious! They Even have a few RV spots that are on the canal. Tiki Bar looked nice but wasn't open! I Would give 5 stars if they had a pool!

A great find just off the beaten path heading to the outer banks! Come enjoy a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Just had the burger, but was one of the best I've had in a long time!! Along with the fresh cut fries, was a great lunch stop.

A fantastic find after leaving the outer banks. Less than a mile off the main road, the best experience after one week of vacation. Great fried food, Carolina BBQ and even pizza. Dog friendly and people friendly too. Really great prices, super casual, right on the sound.

Food is just okay for the price. Don't order crabcakes- mushy and tasteless. Might as well have been tuna.

The menu has a good amount of variety and everything was fresh and prepared just as we ordered. Our server Morgan was very friendly and took great care of us. The Oregon inlet tuna was excellent blackened and prepared perfectly medium. My wife had the Trawl Boat combo and everything was great but, everything was swimming in butter. The shrimp and scallops are locally sourced. A little less butter and the dish would have been better. The special blackberry bourbon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was killer. So delicious. Can't wait to go back. Oh and get the hush puppies!!

My wife and I brought family from Europe thinking that we would have delicious NC seafood. Instead we had food that was only ok in taste and portions that were laughable. When the server handed my wife a 1/4 glass of wine, I laughed out loud. My $32 dollar dish looked like an appetizer and was less filling. We were 4 pretty small adults who all left hungry after spending more than $125 for our meal. The food was not the only issue. The place feels more like a cafeteria. The service was also terrible. Our waiter had a pretty nasty attitude and either was having a bad day or just hated his job. My advice? Go for the view. Standing outside during sundown was spectacular. Then get in your car and eat somewhere else.

The restaurant has two distinct dining areas: the front section is first-come first-served bar seating that offers the full menu. The back section, which would be ideal for families, holds about 30 tables, mostly booths, with the hostess stand. We chose to sit at the bar and had a great experience. We started with bruschetta topped with burrata cheese. I ordered the angel hair pasta in a white garlic butter, cream sauce with marinated chicken and grilled vegetables. My husband ordered the special hamburger with Swiss cheese bacon, spinach and mayo with a side of fries. We ended with slices of the key lime pie that didn't disappoint! The food, service, staff and environment were exceptional! We overheard the Server mention that veterans receive complementary meals on Veterans Day, which speaks volumes about how this restaurant supports those who have served. It's housed in an old train car which is really cool (there's additional seating in a building attached to the car). The bar is nicely stocked with a lot of local beers and spirits. Got there and waited 1hr 30 mins to be seated from my reservation time, so it immediately ruined the rest of my plans that night. Order food. Appetizer was really good had very high belief the steak was going to be amazing. Another HOUR n a HALF for dinner cuz "something" happened with the kitchen. Our steak comes and 3 different cuts for 3 different people. And we all agreed it's 100% the worst steak we have ever had. I've have gone to steak places all around the globe. Italy being the best. So didn't have high hopes but didn't expect the nastiest steak I've ever eaten. LET ALONE the most money on a check for 2.5 people I have ever paid. Even when I was in Dubai it didn't come near that price. ON TOP of still being charged. 20% Gratitude FOR waiting 3 hours and 45 mins after my reservation time to eat my food?!! All in all either they had terrible management and ran out of food and went to get some cheap bad steaks or this place is overhyped mid tier restaurant.

When my husband, aunt & uncle were alive…read morewe went at least once a week, The restaurant has exuded elegance throughout a long history in Virginia Beach. Founded in 1939 by Robert Steinhilber, its storied dining legacy is continued by his descendants. Located at the dead end of Thalia Road, the back of the restaurant has a gorgeous view of one of the tributaries at the end of the western branch of the historic Lynnhaven River. The restaurant is a wonderful place to bring visiting relatives and friends for an always fine dining experience. I wasn't surprised when my son made the choice of Steinhilbers for Mither's Day Brunch. What I was surprised by was that the restaurant, which offers only dinner, was actually serving a Mother's Day Brunch. When we arrived we were seated promptly at a table with a waterfront view. I mentioned to the hostess that throughout my Aunt's life, she had come every Friday. Timing was always when the restaurant opened, so she could get her favorite table. The hostess asked which had been her table. As I pointed it out, decades of family memories at the restaurant flooded through my mind. There was no doubt that we would order from the brunch menu. Only coffee had begun our day. We did begin with Oysters when we learned that they were Lynnhaven. The special taste & salinity of them is like no other. The Mother's Day Brunch menu featured 4 items. My son chose well. I didn't. His choice was the Soft-Shell Crab Benedict with Poached egg, crispy soft-shelled crab, Cajun hollandaise & home fries. Having been on an eating healthy and light regiment, I chose the Spinach and Mushroom Omelette with Cheddar Cheese & home fries. It was the first menu choice in 40 years that wasn't quality. The omelette was dry with the ends thin and overcooked. It was a disappointing menu item from a restaurant I've loved for decades. Of course I'll return. But I'll never again order an omelette at a special event brunch.
