Chicken wings with hot and BBQ sauce on the side.
    Leon S.

3.5 stars is fair. Go for the chicken wings. It's a hole in the wall locals joint, but the wings are Huge, and really good. They keep it simple, with hot sauce or without. I would've appreciated if they fully plucked the wings though, and gotten those random feathers out of there.

About three times a year me and my boyfriend make a little trip about a 2 Hour Dr. getaway and our go to spot is a Barrys Walnut Island Restaurant and large they have 12 rooms and each room has a different theme and of course different sizes to accommodate families and smaller or larger groups we love their butterfly room and their beach room and they're cowboy themed rooms we just recently tried room 11 which is a chic room with Very up-to-date decor and it has a really nice Jacuzzi that we have lots of fun with! It is on the island so cell phone reception is not that great but who needs a cell phone when you're on a vacation and want to get away! The best part is that it's connected to the actual barrys restaurant so you have to go to the restaurant to book your room or you can call of course and they have been able to leave the keys in the room for us if we arrive late or out of the restaurant hours. Being connected to a restaurant you can just walk right out of your room to the restaurant they have a full bar and amazing food so you really don't have to get in your car unless you need to go to Food Lion which is a three minute drive from Barry's ( also 2 gas stations - a Hardee's - Dunkin' - and Mexican restaurant ) all next to eachother just 3 minutes away!!! The food was great and on weekends they have DJs and live music. It's literally right on the water so fishing definitely available they have a nice dock that goes out for views fishing and even can grab a drink and just sit and watch the sun set. We love this place and definitely will be back for sure ! Also... SANDY WAS THE BEST! Very good bartender , nice and very attentive. See you soon Donna!!

Great little place on the way to Corona! Nothing fancy, but very nice! Stopped in to stay the night & Beat The traffic on Saturday Morning going into Corona! Older motel, but it's been remodeled and kept up very well. Very Clean! For Reservations the Staff was prompt calling us back and very friendly! Reasonable prices, we had a 3 bedroom unit for $175.00. Went to the restaurant for dinner and all of our meals were great! Outside Waterfront dining was a great start to our vacation! Crab cake & hush puppies were delicious! They Even have a few RV spots that are on the canal. Tiki Bar looked nice but wasn't open! I Would give 5 stars if they had a pool!

A great find just off the beaten path heading to the outer banks! Come enjoy a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Just had the burger, but was one of the best I've had in a long time!! Along with the fresh cut fries, was a great lunch stop.

    Shower in the pirate room

We booked a room here spur of the moment so we could get a head start on our Labor Day Weekend vacation. They were more than accommodating for our late arrival. We ended up getting in really late because of some road construction we kept encountering on our way down. I would love to give it more stars but there were some hiccups. We were told that the door would be unlocked and the key inside the room for us. It wasn't so I had to call a number I saw listed on the door and was a little reprimanded by the person on the other end telling me that I wasn't supposed to be there until the next night. I'm not sure what the mixup was but he came and got us into our room. The second hiccup was that the bed in the room. We stayed in the "Pirate" room. It was quaint and homey but was a little overcrowded with furniture in the room. There was a giant hole in the middle of the bed and me and husband kept rolling into it all night. That bed really needs to be replaced. The third and final hiccup was the shower. Although the bathroom looked like it had been upgraded the water did not drain in the shower but just collected in the bottom. After 15 minutes it was still there. We decided to take our coffee out to the pier and watch the sun come up. That was the best part. When we went back to the room the water had finally drained but my husband passed on taking a shower. There was no one there for check out when we left at 10 so we left the key in the room and left. My card had never been charged for the room so I reached out to them to make sure they had everything they needed. Like I said it's a cute place just need to fix the bed and shower in the pirate room, hopefully the other rooms don't have those problems.

A neat little restaurant on the water. You are able to eat inside or outside. The food was great.

Food is just okay for the price. Don't order crabcakes- mushy and tasteless. Might as well have been tuna.

I woke up...and had a delicious time! The reviews here tell you how great this place is, and well...believe them! I thought for sure it would be over-hyped and not live up to what people write and say, but I will admit to being wrong. First, our server, Krickett, was agreed upon (by my partner and I) to be the best server we have ever had. She was friendly, outgoing, had good recommendations, and an all-around joy. Second, the food! Wow! My partner had a salad...simple enough, right? But no, she was amazed by it. And she is a vegetarian, so she has had a lot of salads over the years. This one blew her away. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Was it life-changing? No. But it was way better than what a grilled chicken sandwich normally is. It was tender, juicy, with just the right seasoning. I would be a criminal if I didn't mention the bruschetta...get it with the burrata...it is worth it! The crispy bread with balsamic drizzle is good enough with the diced tomato mix, but the cheese gives it a new level. And, I hope you saved room for dessert, because the key lime pie was a mouth explosion.

The restaurant has two distinct dining areas: the front section is first-come first-served bar seating that offers the full menu. The back section, which would be ideal for families, holds about 30 tables, mostly booths, with the hostess stand. We chose to sit at the bar and had a great experience. We started with bruschetta topped with burrata cheese. I ordered the angel hair pasta in a white garlic butter, cream sauce with marinated chicken and grilled vegetables. My husband ordered the special hamburger with Swiss cheese bacon, spinach and mayo with a side of fries. We ended with slices of the key lime pie that didn't disappoint! The food, service, staff and environment were exceptional! We overheard the Server mention that veterans receive complementary meals on Veterans Day, which speaks volumes about how this restaurant supports those who have served. If you are in the Outer Banks- whether you're staying in Kill Devil Hills or nearby- this restaurant is worth the drive and all the hype!

Got there and waited 1hr 30 mins to be seated from my reservation time, so it immediately ruined the rest of my plans that night. Order food. Appetizer was really good had very high belief the steak was going to be amazing. Another HOUR n a HALF for dinner cuz "something" happened with the kitchen. Our steak comes and 3 different cuts for 3 different people. And we all agreed it's 100% the worst steak we have ever had. I've have gone to steak places all around the globe. Italy being the best. So didn't have high hopes but didn't expect the nastiest steak I've ever eaten. LET ALONE the most money on a check for 2.5 people I have ever paid. Even when I was in Dubai it didn't come near that price. ON TOP of still being charged. 20% Gratitude FOR waiting 3 hours and 45 mins after my reservation time to eat my food?!! All in all either they had terrible management and ran out of food and went to get some cheap bad steaks or this place is overhyped mid tier restaurant.

This go round, Steinhilber's came to mind because I hadn't been in over 10 years, when I attended a tasting event here. Steinhilber's has been around since 1939, and it's easy to see how they've stood the test of time. The restaurant sits in a gorgeous waterfront area in Virginia Beach, not too far from Town Center. The setting alone makes it feel like you're going somewhere special for dinner. We went on a Sunday, and there was a bit of a wait for an inside table. However, for our group of four, there was no wait at all to sit outside. The weather was beautiful, there was a nice breeze coming off the waterfront, and they have umbrellas that provide plenty of shade. Honestly, sitting outside ended up being a great choice. The staff here is also incredibly polite. You can tell they've been trained in fine dining etiquette, and everyone we interacted with was professional and attentive. They were very accommodating with every inquiry and request my family and I had throughout the evening. Now for the food! The thing I remembered most from my visit over 10 years ago was how delicious their fried shrimp were, so of course I had to order them again. I'm happy to report that they were just as delicious as I remembered! Crispy, flavorful, and even better paired with their signature "Steiny's Sauce." The twice baked potato was also delicious, and I added a side of creamed spinach, which was pretty good as well. All in all, Steinhilber's is a great restaurant with good food, gorgeous ambiance, and excellent customer service. There's a reason they've stood the test of time. My family and I really enjoyed our meals here, and I'm glad I finally made my way back after all these years!
