We had a very disappointing dining experience. We were seated near the bar, and the bartender was also our waiter. He was friendly and handled the situation professionally. My son ordered the chicken tenders, and they were very good. My husband and I both ordered the seafood platter. He ordered the tuna and substituted onion rings for the potatoes, while I ordered the mahi with the potatoes. After waiting 40 minutes, our food arrived cold and both pieces of fish were overcooked. Our waiter sent the meals back, but after another 25-minute wait, the replacement plates were still disappointing. 90% of the food was cold, and both fish were once again overcooked. At that point, I told our waiter we were done. I don't think the third time around would have been any better. The kitchen missed the mark twice, and after waiting nearly an hour for two unsuccessful attempts, we left extremely disappointed and hungry. read more

I am not pleased with the service or experience here. It took over an hours for our food to arrive, lots of flies inside. Most of the party I was with were happy with their orders, however my daughter ordered the Mac n cheese and it had no flavor and was very watery, same for the Alfredo pasta. She did not eat any of her Mac n cheese minus one small bite. I asked our server to remove it from the bill because it was tasteless and mostly untouched. She refused to do so stating it was expensive to make. (It was watery Mac n cheese) it cost $5, I said fine whatever and paid. This was my second time here. The first time was in 2020, when the food was better. They do have a good happy hour on Fridays for $5 well drinks. I had a great pineapple vodka. Skip Uncle Ike's Sandbar & Grill. Trying to place a simple carryout order was unnecessarily difficult from start to finish. The restaurant wouldn't answer the phone initially. When they finally did, I was told they would be taking carryout orders in about 30 minutes and to call back then. When I called back as instructed, I was told they couldn't take any carryout orders that night after all. What made the experience even more confusing is that their posted menu and hours indicate that they are open for lunch, so we tried to call the next day to order carryout, but when calling to order during those hours, I was told they were only offering the "late night" menu and that the regular menu wasn't available. On top of all of that, I was told by other customers that there is a 10% charge for carryout orders--apparently just for placing the food in a bag. This fee is not clearly identified on their website or menu, so customers have no way of knowing about the additional charge before ordering. The combination of unanswered calls, contradictory information, changing menu availability, and an undisclosed 10% carryout fee makes for a very poor customer experience. If a restaurant has different menus, limited carryout availability, or additional fees, that information should be clearly communicated and accurately reflected on its website and menu. Unfortunately, after this experience, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. There are plenty of restaurants that make ordering food much easier and are upfront about their prices and policies. If you are in the mood for fish tacos, try Corolla Cantina instead. read more

We have been traveling to OBX for years and always have one night ordering from Uncle Ike's during the week. It's always been absolutely delicious. This year is very different. The kid cheeseburgers were smaller than a slider. The mozzarella sticks were cold. The seafood Mac and cheese only had a few shrimp without the crab meat and scallops plus the cheese had to mixed ourselves. It was just sitting in the middle. The side of fries for a meal were 5 fries only. The chicken Cesar salad was very small for the price. It was very disappointing this time. read more

tl:dr - Good vibe, but can have better for the price. Fails in execution on the food. It gets a just OK. I did really like the vibe....feels like locals are there and has a sports bar feel. Every dish seems a few dollars more than other similar tier places. Fried Pickles: Crazy good seasoning flavor. Something was off with the pickle chip itself....couldn't place it - maybe too soggy pickle not enough bite so was mushy texture. Tuna Bite: Also crazy good flavor and seasoning. Definitly over cooked even though ordered rare. So great flavor but super dry. Fried Shrimp: Great breading crunch, needed more seasoning and served with asian sauce. didn't think to ask for cocktail. Fries were so-so. Probably the item I would go back for. Kids Chicken: HUGE pieces. WAY overcooked unfortunately. Crabcake Sandwich: I did not like it at all. Way under-seasoned, undercooked with mostly a burned area and hardly any crusting overall, too finely shredded crab kinda-liquidy. Shredded iceburg lettuce instead of romain or butter. Had much better for same or less......really terrible for $19. Sadly, not the best experience. My suggestion to Ike's is to use your resources (staff) better. The food took forever to arrive, and when it did, it wasn't our order. The ladies bathroom had no soap left in the dispenser nor paper towels nor an air dryer .... When the right order arrived, it was delicious and we appreciated the food. We had to flag down our waitress who was also the bartender to pay. We were clearly done for a bit and it was frustrating to have to wait and then finally just get up and go over to get the ticket. A lot more attention was being paid to the bar patrons than we were offered. Finally, when we were leaving, my grandson held the door open for the group of ladies in their 80's that were entering the restaurant. The THREE staff members holding down the hostess station yelled at him to shut the door. Seriously? So my suggestion is to teach your staff to pay attention to your customers more frequently while dining, clean the restroom SEVERAL times a day, and discover that being kind to your elders is a sign of respect. How about coming from behind that desk and assisting the patrons in vs yelling at someone who's trying to help them into your establishment. On a family trip to Corolla we were looking for some good seafood, saw this place and decided to stop in. It's a smallish pub/bar feel but very comfortable. You could tell they get a lot of business as the staff were visibly busy but very accommodating. We were seated quickly and orders taken. Got Seafood nachos and 2 orders of the fish and chips. Fish and chips came out first and the waiter saw we didn't have our nachos (appetizer) so he quickly went back and put a rush on the order. The fish was lightly battered and had a nice crispy texture. Fish was flakey and delicious, prob one of the best fish and chips I ever had. Seafood nachos were an interesting twist. Going to keep this short - don't waste your money on eating here. Our food took forever, and when we did get it, it was cold and over cooked. We sent our order back and their second attempt was even worse. Even more offensive, the owner was on site, was made aware of the situation, and didn't even have the decency to come by our table and apologize. Ate at Uncle Ike's during our visit in Corolla. We came late afternoon - before the dinner rush and they were still pretty packed inside with no indoor seating available for 40+ mins. We opted to sit outside for quicker seating and it wasn't bad but definitely humid in the month of July. We ordered the Crabby Wings, Fried Pickles, BLT steak Salad, Crab Cake Sandwich, Chicken Fried Chicken, and Kids Chicken Fingers & Fries. Uncle Ike's is located in Carolla in a small strip mall with mini-golf, ice cream, pizza and a real estate office. Plenty of parking for the many places to grab a bite. Wait time was @an hour so we opted for the outside picnic tables. Being as hot as it was today, we decided on just 2 apps and hoped it was enough. Some previous pics did not give me the impression that it would be enough, but it was more than what 2 people could eat. Staff were very good, offering a bowl of water for my dog. Food was also just ok...the word "meh" comes to mind. Smash burger served plan...nothing on it, for $20. No lettuce, onion tomato, ketchup or mustard. Just meat, cheese, and a bun. Wings were barely warm and boring. Had the mahi sandwich, which was cooked decent, but upon asking for tartar sauce, was notified there was none of this as well. All in all, not worth the value. Our experience was terrible from the start. We were a party of nine. On vacation like most people. We were celebrating my mother's birthday. We took this last trip as a family as my mother is terminally ill. Just when walking through the door the bartender is SCREAMING at us to shut the door as we're all trying to get in since our table was ready. " SHUT THE DOOR I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ITS HOT IN HERE " Anyways we decided on this place because of local recommendations. I am a server myself and so is my sister in law. So we understand the industry and what is to be expected. Especially given the circumstances and that they are one of the few restaurants in the area capable of seating large parties. So we were beyond patient and understanding. But, My restaurant is a locally owned business and we do 15-20 thousand in sales a day, easily. Patio season obviously being the higher end of the spectrum. So I know what it's like to be busy and overwhelmed. That being said, the service we received was the WORST I have ever encountered in my entire life. You could tell our server knew we had to pay the 20% auto gratuity no matter what and put in ZERO effort. She was rude, condescending, and just overall a very unpleasant individual. I took a picture of the receipt so I know her name ( of course she didn't tell us it though). However I will not name drop because I hope she can turn her attitude around and maybe not repeat this same awful behavior. The food was decent. It was very small portioned. My nephew didn't receive his food until everyone else at the table was done eating. ( he got Alfredo) again I work in a restaurant. Most pasta is pre portioned and even if they did cook it to order ( highly unlikely ) pasta takes 10 minutes AT MOST. My mother never received the dressing for her salad. They didn't take off her salad even though she sent it back. My nephew received his pasta and it had parsley or some sort of herb all throughout it and he wouldn't eat it. We sent that back too. They charged us for that as well. We had to get our own boxes from a server at the server station. We had to ask another server for a fork. We simply never seen her except to order or for her to bring us checks. She rolled her eyes at us multiple times. She slammed the drinks on the table as if we were a nuisance to her. Overall just absolutely despicable treatment. And had auto gratuity not been part of the equation I GUARANTEE she wouldn't have acted that way. The 5 top she had across the dining room got smiles and laughter. She checked on them MULTIPLE times. Why? Because auto gratuity is 6 or more. My family always tips AT LEAST 40 percent and I myself am known to tip 100% of my bill. But I have never stiffed a server. If it was an option, I would've left that lady nothing. May she learn to treat people with common decency or for the love of all things holy GET ANOTHER JOB. read more

TLDR: We definitely had an interesting experience and I wouldn't recommend it. LONG VERSION: We got to the restaurant around 7:00 pm. We got on the list and opted for the first available option. That would prove to be a poor decision... We were seated outside at 7:20 pm (took less time to be seated than anticipated, which was nice). We were kind of shunned into a corner with a picturesque scene of the waterfalls of Adventure Island. And later we found out it was next to the stray cat exhibit. I'm not much of a cat guy, but they were cute in a mangy alley cat kind of way. It started out fine. We ordered; we knew it was busy but it took about 30 minutes to get our food. Unfortunately, our starter came out maybe 2 minutes before our main course. "And at that point, they knew they'd been forgotten," said the narrator. It wasn't the worst but the fact that the stray cats were chilling next to us also brought unwanted attention of passersby. We quickly became a party of 8 a few times. Plus, the level of flies was quite intolerable. These flies were exceptionally aggressive (NC flies built diff)--they kept trying to kamikaze into our food with precise coordination. After the buggy bombardment, we opted to grab our food to-go and head out. Luckily, we found reasonable seating accommodations elsewhere, in a luxury mobile option. The amenities included but not limited to being fully air conditioned, padded ergonomic seating, fly-free zone, with a stunning view to people-watch, and a plethora of cup holders. Moronically, I forgot to request utensils and ketchup...everything was then eaten with a dusty spoon shank. The waiter was kind so I am not sure if our ticket tragically floated to the floor and was wisped away by the wind and made a journey to the trash. Maybe it was because I am Korean. Maybe we offended a beach mob boss with our lack of decorum... We may never know. I tried to reach out to the restaurant for a resolution. I was just left unread sitting in their DMs (I guess Facebook might be a dead medium after all) It just stinks to have a rough first experience like this. I think if we knew anything about the cats we would have opted to go elsewhere. Sorry cat-lovers (we did leave them a little crab chowda *Boston accent*) The crab cake was the highlight. Our group of ladies had lunch at Ike's yesterday. It was great! Three of us had the fish and chips two of us had quesadillas and two of us had tuna tacos. Everything was pretty good. The fries were amazing. The oysters were fantastic. They could've been cooked another minute longer. We were sat under the AC and all had to leave to go get coats from the store next-door. Had a really good lunch at Uncle Ike's! Started off with the crab dip, and unfortunately they only had chips and no pita bread, and the chips were stale. Our server replaced the chips, and they were much more fresh. The chicken strip basket was HUGE! Largest chicken strips the kids have ever had, perfectly breaded and the fries were hot! The shrimp basket was fantastic too, and the dipping sauce was perfect for the shrimp. Delicious. The mahi BLT was spot on! Messy, but delicious. Uncle Ike's is a staple location for me and my family when we go on our annual family vaca to the OBX. A small beach bar located in the Corolla shops with plenty of parking options and across from the sound side, you have to stop here for a bite to eat and a beverage! This place has been a spot where we meet waiting for our house to be ready, they host karaoke night which is a fav of ours and have the best firecracker shrimp we've ever had. It is one of my favorite appetizers that is always ordered. My entree was delicious - shrimp tacos! They are on soft shell, set on a hard shell loaded with necessary toppings. My husband had the shrimp Mac and cheese and the serving was plenty for one person, with a creamy sauce, he'd recommend it to anyone!
