We just paid $75 at Lefty's Cheesesteaks for what might be the saddest excuse for cheesesteaks I've…read moreever seen. We ordered 3 large cheesesteaks, 2 fries, and cheesesteak rolls, plus paid extra for add ons like cherry peppers on the side. Not only did they forget the extras entirely, but the "large" sandwiches were a joke. They used bigger buns and apparently decided that counted as a larger sandwich, because there was definitely not more meat. In fact, the meat barely covered HALF the bread. We literally have to cook extra meat at home just to turn these into actual cheesesteaks. And the cheesesteak rolls? The menu photo shows four halves. What showed up was ONE roll cut in half. That's it. The curly fries were the only thing remotely worth the money. Charging extra for every tiny add on while simultaneously skimping on the actual food (and the addons) is wild. If you're going to charge premium prices, at least put enough meat on the sandwich to justify calling it a cheesesteak.

The taste was excellent and the volume, huge. The bun was warm and fresh. I can't tolerate stale bread. The Beef steak sub with mushrooms and cheese (onions). Had a lot of beef. Almost too much. Maybe a mistake based on what I've been reading. Or that's the norm for here. It's a bit pricey, but it was a pretty big sub. I think we'll be back on our next romp through Ann Arbor. 10/25

Service is fine tuned to the huge volume of customers that arrive every day. Ordering is down to a science, once one gets familiar with the ordering kiosk. Assistants are nearby if you have any trouble. Order to take out or dine in. We like to dine in as the atmosphere on the second floor dining area (steps or elevator to ascend up) is fun and whimsical. Very casual. Pictures below describe what we chose (and LOVED)! As a MSU Spartan, GO GREEN, Zingermans might be one of the only reasons I'd travel to blue nation! Worth the sacrifice... : ) (just kidding)

I told him we would not order at computers, only with HUMANS. He then offered to take our order on a kiosk! Where the hell is the fucking counter!? The friendly person with knowledge of the menu!? What kind of dystopian novel is this!? Fuck Zingermans and their fucking kiosks. Use that space to build a queue and employ a whole ass human with whom we can converse to place and order!

This is a review for the White Lotus cafe on Zeeb road (not the farms on Liberty)…read more This place is now my go-to for West Side hang-out. Anytime I have a family member visit me we go here. (I'm thinking of holding my office hours here in the fall, IN PERSON, over real coffee! this coffee is yummmmmmmy) From the moment I walk in the door I am greeted with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Who all know me by my first name! (and I have a difficult Spanish name). They greet me with a smile, never rush me, and take my order all the while answering any questions I might have. Since their menu is always evolving and changing, it's great that they take the time to walk through my options. So they have their standard amazing pizzas (which i first had at the farm) and their shockingly authentic pastries (even better croissants than I have had in Paris). But last week I tried their new breakfast food, and MAN! It was GOOD! the quiche, the omelet....and although I am convinced their chai is the best in Ann Arbor (it's not a premade mix of sugar and chemicals, it's the real deal) ...they now have this new line of matcha, so so good. Sarah and Kat make baristas run for cover, they are that good. And even with all that goodness, I was SHOCKED out of my mind when I had their eggplant sandwich. That thing is fire. FIRE. My family and I are big meat eaters, so when this one hit the scene, we couldn't believe how tasty it was. Even writing this review right now makes me want to go there and eat one. (I'll still keep trying their amazing ever-new menu, but this eggplant sandwich has become a standard) Also, there is this very cute small little market attached where I stop by at the end of the day to pick up freshly made bread for dinner. We love the sesame bread, but geez louise, the baguettes are addictive. Their head baker is INSANELY talented. Remember that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic gets transported to a core memory? That happens to me when I eat that bread. I have purchased goat milk soap there (its handmade by the baker's wife), hot chocolate mix, a kabocha squash, this no sugar added mango puree (which I made a no-sugar added mango torte with). They have these really cool unique products, and it really is a treat to stop by. The place is beautiful, and it is a gem to have such a high quality place to eat on this side of town. The passion that these people have comes through in their food, the products they sell, and the way they treat their community. I love Ann Arbor, and I love this cafe. (okay now i really am going to go and get that eggplant sandwich)

We were welcomed in right away and I loved the friendly employees. The menu is completely vegetarian and many items can be made vegan. There is an Asian influence with lots of Korean flavors as well as Indian inspired dishes. We ordered the fried tofu sandwich with fries and the seaweed rolls (gimmari). Our food came out quickly and everything was hot and fresh. The fries were a large portion and super tasty (like McDonald's). I loved the seaweed mayo on the tofu sandwich as it does make it taste like a fish sandwich! The bread was a bit tough for eating as a sandwich but the flavors were great. The gimmari were a little mushy inside but the ssamjang mayo was savory and delicious. They have a cooler of interesting drinks -- I loved that some are labeled with descriptions. They also have other items for sale, like ramen pots, snacks, and stickers. I got a couple of packs of Oreos and some stickers and a postcard. I will definitely be back to try more food! In true ZCOB fashion, the staff couldn't be more friendly. Honestly so nice and helpful. I was oogling at all the Korean snacks they had like Turtle Chips (yum!), mint herbal candy, whale shaped squid chips (?). I had the Jajjangbap (Korean Chinese Black Bean Sauce Over Rice, Brinery Tempeh, Zucchini - $15) I also added an egg for extra $. It was a plenty big portion that I ate half for lunch the next day. I thought it was pretty unique as I've only had jajjang NOODLES. With rice is different but I was into it. This version is super pungent and flavorful. Love it. I also didn't even realize there was tempeh in it! I also ordered the fries because I wanted to try the sauces: *Seaweed sauce - worth a try but I think would be better as a sandwich sauce! *ssamjang mayo - OBSESSED - my favorite. kinda funky from what ssamjang is (fermented) *curry mayo - I mean can't really go wrong. The only thing is that I like steak fries and these were super thin but not crispy enough. It was a HUGE portion so I took it home and airfried it to perfection! I'll be back when they have kimbap on the regular!! I'm so looking forward to being able to have this at a place on the regular. FYI there's some outdoor seating in the front & back courtyard. Otherwise, it's communal tables.
