I don't know if they changed their cook or are under new management but the food as gone from great to gross in a matter of months. Our past three orders have consisted of dry, over-cooked chicken, undercooked rice, and excessively greasy egg/spring rolls. Their delivery times have been inconsistent - 20 minutes to over an hour. We will not be ordering from this restaurant again. Damn shame. read more

The food is good but the service is horrible. After waiting an hour even though they said it would take 30-40 minutes, they got the order wrong! If you are hungry, make sure you get your order right because if they get it wrong(had to repeat it over 2 times), you will have to wait another hour just to eat. I gave them many opportunities but Never again! read more

My husband and I just moved to Crofton from Annapolis. While we are not huge fans of the Chinese food in this area, Hunan Express has proved to be a great place to get take out in the Crofton Area. Also, the gal who answers the phone is easy to understand and our food always seems fresh! read more

This place is the absolute worst. The person answering the phone is rude, their service is VERY slow and the food mediocre. Ordered my food online at 5:50pm, called at 6:40 to get an update, was told it was on the way, and hung up on. Called again at 7:10 and was told another 10-15 minutes, and hung up on again. Seriously?!??? With Bonchon next door and Otani two doors down, one would think they'd get it together. read more

Awful parking in this lot. Be ware in peak hours. Delivery took over an hour and I'm maybe a mile away...if that. I was charged for hot oil. I was charged for a TSP worth of hot oil. It's not my fault American Chinese restaurants don't understand that I want spicy. I am American but I can handle it! Never again! read more

So, so disappointed with this place, for several reasons. I placed a large order for delivery - more than $95 - including two dinner combos that came with pork fried rice. I asked that vegetable fried rice be substituted. They phoned to tell me there would be a $1.50 extra charge per dinner for the substitution. Although that didn't make sense to me, I agreed because, at that point, I had 6 people waiting for dinner. I'm really dissatisfied because the cost of an order of vegetable fried rice is less than an order of pork fried rice, so it seems I was charged extra simply because they had to take the rice from a different pan. Another big disappointment was the food quality. Everything that came with "mixed vegetables" was about 95% onions and cabbage. We really had to search to find any other types of vegetables typically in these dishes, such as broccoli, carrots, snow peas, etc. The food arrived 15 minutes later that stated, and was cold. The restaurant is less than 2 miles from my house, so I'm not sure what caused those issues. When the delivery was about 10 minutes late, and the delivery website showed no change, I called to ask where my order was. The person who answered the phone simply said, "Delivery left" and hung up the phone. All in all, this was a terrible experience. read more

Hunan Express - Moo Shu Vegetables - basically all onions and cabbage - Chinese Near Me - Gambrills, Maryland

Gross. Ordered Peking duck for 15 bucks and all we got was fat, skin, and bones. Also, the 'pancakes' it was supposed to come with were flour tortillas?? Ridiculous. Go to the sushi place next door. read more

Hit or miss delivery. The General Tso's can be the best I've ever had, or the worst. Often times, it is quite tough (like its been under a heat lamp for hours). I've thrown out entire containers of inedible food enough times for me to stop patronizing this place. Truly unfortunate, because when it's good, it's REALLY good. read more

This place is great - the food is good, and the customer service is even better. Tracey is extremely helpful and friendly. Check it out.

Must be under new management, not the same restaurant as years past. Absolutely horrible. Avoid this place.

We like this place and order take out a lot. Very friendly lady behind the counter. Huge portions - they pack the boxes until they are bulging. My wife and I always get a general tso's to share and we can barely finish it between us. I read some of the other reviews complaining that it isn't always fresh tasting. We've found it is great if you order during peak meal times and they cook it right then. Once, when we ordered at odd hours it was kind of mushy - like it had sat under a heat lamp for a while or was maybe left over and re-heated from lunch. But the general rule is that this place is good. read more

I used their online ordering service and ended having my credit card information stolen and over 300 dollars of charges rung up in North Carolina(I live in Maryland). Either their website is monitored by someone or their employees are using/selling the credit card info. I'd advise against it. Edit: The food itself is very good, I just wouldn't use their online ordering service due to the fact it isn't secured(which is partly my fault for not looking) read more

Food was below average (fried crab rangoons was chewy, egg rolls nasty), customer service was terrible, and took over an hour to deliver only 1.3 miles away. I won't return. read more

Limited experience but what I've had was great. Perfect American-Chinese food. We got the orange chicken and sweet/sour chicken, egg drop soup, egg rolls, and lo mien. Nothing was overly greasy (you need a little to make it right). Good value and quick for pick up. Ill be back. read more

Love their Beef sticks. I also order Beef Fried Rice and the meat is very tender! I work in Crofton and this is my place to go now

Slooooooooooow delivery. Took over an hour and the food was cold. Dumplings did not taste good.

Has been a steady staple of our family for a decade. If you keep the ball on the fairway and don't try and get to fancy, this place is consistently solid. read more

Absolutely the worst Chinese Food I've had, maybe in life. From the fried rice being just being hard white and stained regular rice to your order being whatever they want it to be. The only good thing here is the nice coral colored menu fooling you to thinking that the you'll order anything halfway decent to eat. read more

They have really good lunch specials and are generous with their portion size. I would have liked the fried rice that came with my general Tso to include vegetables but it was still good. read more

We walked and ordered the Dragon Phoenix dinner, Egg drop soup, and Egg rolls. It was ready in about 15 min, and when we got home it was delicious and the order was correct. read more

Quick delivery & very polite staff! Ordered sesame chicken and crab rangoon, both delicious!

My family has gotten food at Hunan Express for many years, and at some point I think they changed ownership; however, it remains our favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is always flavorful and waiting time is consistent at about 20 minutes for takeout. Highly recommend! read more

Only had takeout from them. The food is what you'd expect. Delivered on time as well. If you're having a craving for Chinese food they fit the bill. read more

Greasy, bland, noooooo flavor, rubbery. Actually gross. They didn't include, forgot, or do not serve the usual sauces with each dish. Ex: egg rolls...ugh...greasy, no hot mustard given to give that any flavor. Pot stickers and lo mein equally disgusting 1 point only for being open and having delivery on a Sunday. I'd avoid this place.....keep looking. read more

Dingy, dirty atmosphere, inattentive, inaccurate service, greasy, poorly-prepared thrown-together imitations of American Chinese food all add up to one thing: stay away. read more

Ended up in the emergency room with a horrible case of food poisoning from eating here. Doctors narrowed it down and were 100% sure the food was contaminated. After blood work and medication, I was still out of work for a week from being so sick! read more

Food is ok. But sadly, they can't get everything right. They can't even include BUT 1 duck sauce for all my food. And someone who ordered sweet and sour something, must be missing the sauce.....cause it was in MY bag! Don't think I'll order here again. read more

Wow, I can't believe I found good Chinese food that delivers. I had the all-white meat General Tso's Chicken and it was great!

Terrible service. Waited for over an hour and a half for the food. When it got here, the food delivered was wrong. When I called to tell them the order was wrong I was put on hold for 5 minutes, and offered free springs rolls rather than getting a discount on the food that wasn't delivered. read more

Had a great experience with Hunan Express. Ordered delivery and they accidentally forgot the sauce for the sweet and sour pork. They were very apologetic, and they actually sent the delivery driver back out just to bring the sauce. They were faster than Jimmy Johns and the food was fantastic, read more

I love the crab rangoon and general tso chicken! Great prices and pretty quick delivery! We order out from here a lot, and I've never been disappointed. Everyone I've spoken to have been very polite and professional. read more

I went there last night for the first time after going to the dentist next door late afternoon. While waiting in the parking lot, I called to place the order. Yes, I was sitting out front and called in my order for "real crab fried rice". As I waited 10min for the food to be cooked, I didn't see anyone patronize this place, while Ledo's next door was constantly busy. I went in to pick up my food and this is when the lady who took the order over the phone goes to the back to prepare my food. So now I'm waiting another 10min inside where there are two tables for customers, and 2 fish tanks near the counter. She drops in a bowl of rice on the stove and another bowl of something to mix in. We get the food home and all we see is rice and onions. No veggies, no "real crab meat", nothing else. We called to complain and she claims she used 8oz of crab meat in the rice. We didn't see 1 morsel that resembled crab meat, I knew I should have stuck to a shrimp dish. For $11 dollars I want more than a bowl of rice. I will not visit this place again! read more

When I lived in Crofton, I used to eat here 2 or 3 times a week. Tasty food at a reasonable price. I judge all Chinese takeout by their standard. read more

What a rip off. I ordered 5 wings/fries like I do at every other Chinese carry-out, open the container and they gave me 5 half wings, wth? Man, it's with the drive to just go down the road to Goodies Cafe for the same price to get 5 whole wings! Anne Arundel County carry-outs are horrible compared to PG! read more

You are better off going someplace else!. Honestly, I have had better food..and service. After finding out that Raymond no longer owns Hunan Express, it made sense because the fast service, fast delivery and good customer service over the past year of 2008 have definitely changed under the new ownership not to mention the food is not outstanding as it once was. The only gem of that place was the pretty girl named Jessica, that worked a few days a week- she was the only one we would come to see because, at least we would get great service as if Raymond had never left. My husband and I came in last night only to find out that our favorite girl was gone!- she would remember everything from your name to what you ordered and take the time to talk with every customer..now that is great customer service. We ordered General Tsao Chicken that was a bit too over-fried, the chicken wings we had tasted like they were old and pre-fried and our chicken and broccoli was 1/2 grease and a watery brown sauce. When we called to complain, the girl that worked there didn't seem to care that we as the customer were not happy. We have tried this place time and time again after several bad experiences- another being that the delivery guy that works mondays was very rude and he yelled at us for being under the minimum and being out of his way, we live in Odenton!! and another time we asked to speak to the manager only to be lied to by the current owner that Raymond was on delivery and that he would get back to us..when really it was them, Why lie to the customer when it's obvious the previous owner is gone?. Go here if you want mediocre american-chinese food, slow delivery, drivers with bad-itudes and service that does not care about the customer read more

Huge portions and tastier than expected!! Maybe four stars is slightly over the top, but I feel I have to somewhat make up for those in my opinion unjustified bad reviews - it's a CHINESE hole-in-the-wall, not a Michelin star fine dining establishment, for crying out loud!! Anyway, I picked up lunch there today for the first time (even though I've been going to the Gold's down the road for years, but the place is really tucked away) and was very pleasantly surprised - I got two soups (Won Ton and a mixed vegetable one), as well as the Lo Mein (with mixed meats) and the Bean Curd with Mixed Vegetables. First impression: HUGE portions!! When I lifted the styrofoam containers out of the carrier bag, I almost dropped them because I wasn't expecting this heavy :-) Second impression, after eating some of it: very tasty, the Lo Mein possibly a little on the salty side, which is ok for me because I love salty, but it might be a little much for some - so maybe specify less salt if you don't like or cannot eat lots of salt. The tofu dish was also really good, I don't know how they always manage to make tofu so tasty and when I make it myself, it tends to be bland...The entire check came to $21 bucks and this will provide several more meals for my husband and me - I hardly made a dent in it for lunch today!! It's not the best food I've ever had, but I found it to be tasty and certainly well worth the price. Oh and I ordered online ahead of time, went shopping at Giant next door and then picked up the food, which was all ready and packed up for me - no issues there!! read more
