Best Chinese take out in Crofton. Hands down. It's not the cheapest but you can taste/see the difference in quality. Family of five can eat and have leftovers for under $50. Yes, not wanting to cook on a Friday evening I took the recommendation of someone who said that this was the best Chinese food in the area. It is right off of 30 one in a strip mall area so easy to find there was plenty of parking. It's a very casual set up. It is only takeout. There is a printed paper menu and someone standing at a patio table, taking orders with another person behind the counter taking phone orders. I got two eggrolls and the Singapore noodles. Yes, the eggrolls or just basic eggrolls. Definitely came out of a case and dropped in some oil. Nothing special just a basic. The Singapore noodles were somewhere between bad and awful. It said spicy, but these were outrageously, spicy and spicy in a way that it doesn't feel like they were properly mixed or stirfried, because they were hotter sections than others other than the spice. There wasn't much flavor. the noodles were very dry . I took a few bites and force myself to eat some because I was so hungry, but I just couldn't finish it. They seem pretty popular, so maybe I caught them on a bad day or when their best chef was not working, I might try them one more time, but I'm not highly motivated to do so based on my experience read more

Finding good Chinese food in the Gambrills area has become increasingly difficult. We recently watched our favorite carry-out go under new management (though the new people swear nothing has changed, except where did all the old staff go?). They now no longer deliver and the food we got from here on 2 occasions was horrible. We would order Chinese like 2 times a month. It's always been a family favorite. Now we've MAYBE had it twice in the last year. When things were going good, we would occasionally try another spot just to see what else was in the area, but we were regularly disappointed. So by the time Hong Kong Gourmet collapsed, we already knew that we weren't crazy about the other spots in the area. We've always known about Goodie's Cafe, but it's a little far for us to make last minute plans for and we're outside of their delivery zone. My wife and I came here to check them out the other day for lunch. We had the time, and had been really looking for some good food. This location didn't disappoint. My wife got the General Tso's shrimp and I got a Cheesesteak, and 1/2 & 1/2 (I know, but a good carryout cheesesteak can't be beat). The staff was friendly and the food was solid. I can't wait to come back and try more. My only gripe is that they have pictures of food on the monitor display that the lady said they didn't sell and i didn't see on the menu. Maybe we miscommunicated, but either way i'm gonna come back to update. I'm hoping this can at least be an every now and then spot for me to get my fix. read more

As a new resident of the Gambrills/Crofton, I was in the hunt for a go-to a Chinese takeout spot and found it here. It's a a cool family-owned business that has never disappointed over the last few months and the food is always relatively quick. (But as a native DC girl, I will say it's not like the DC carryouts I know and love but it does offer up good Chinese! So don't come with the DC carryout experience in mind or you may not enjoy it) Here is what I've tried in the past: - Salt and Pepper Shrimp: It's a fried shrimp with sauted onions and jalapeños. Never seen this on a Chinese food restaurant but it's one of my favorites from here. Definitely worth a try! - Orange Chicken: The chicken is a big size, flavorful, and not overly orangey. Good choice! - General Tso chicken: Never a complaint when ordering this! - Singapore Noodles: Another good choice if you like curry noodles - Egg rolls: Good thought it maybe had like one shrimp in it that was cut kinda big (versus shrimp throughout) but still good! - Combination Lo Mein: The is the stand out dish from my experiences here! I'm not usually a huge Lo Mein fan but I love theirs! The noodles are saucey without being overly saucey and it's packed with meats. read more

I was in the Crofton area for an appointment and wanted to grab a bite since I had time. Looked up food and came across Goodie's Cafe. I was expecting something different, I guess I was expecting more of a cuisine feel. However, it was just your basic carry-out. There was no ambiance really, just open space and a few chairs. I looked at the menu and wasn't SUPER intrigued by much. The young lady tried to help me, when I asked if they had any lunch specials. They DO NOT have a lunch special. That sucked. So I perused the menu some more, nothing popped out at me. The young lady said, we have chicken wings and French fries. I looked up and said, "I don't eat chicken."She looked away. Why was that the 1st thing out of your mouth to me? Anywho... I settled on the whiting DINNER @ 12:07pm. The food was mediocre. There's really nothing to write home about. I DO NOT like that they broke my fish in 1/2's. That lets the heat out of the food. The mumbo sauce was runny and spicy. The fried rice looked like yellow fried rice. There were no vegetables in my vegetable fried rice. And the breading on the fish was bland. Even with the mumbo sauce, the fish was worse. The tartar sauce made it edible. The good about this experience, the food was quick and hot when I got it. The size of the mumbo sauce and tartar sauces were exceptional. But this experience was not one for my taste buds to enjoy. This place is to go only! We have been a couple times and it's delicious! The people who work there are nice and it's clean. We have ordered the honey walnut shrimp, green beans and chicken in a brown garlic sauce (spicy), pork dumplings, crab rangoons, and sesame chicken. It was all delicious and tasted as expected. The spice on the green bean chicken was perfect, not too hot. The veggies were fresh and not soggy. We will definitely be back to try more! read more

My friend recommended this spot and everything she said was true. The customer service was on point and the food was delicious. I was able to order and pay via the Yelp app, so all I had to do was walk in and pick up my food. The guy that brought my order was very friendly. He made small talk and just seemed genuinely happy to be there. Since I was new here, I got my old faithful fried rice. They had a seafood fried rice so I opted for that instead, medium spicy. The shrimp were a nice size and the scallops were properly cooked, although I would have liked a few more scallops and shrimps. Overall, I was pleased with the size of the dish & taste of the rice. I recently had their wings through an event that had goodies cater the wings. Everyone was complementing the wings so a couple days later I decided to give goodies cafe a try. This is my new favorite Chinese Restaurant in the Bowie/Crofton area. The service is exceptional with a warm welcoming upon entering the establishment. The place is clean and very organized. The place smells clean, which can be off putting for some restaurants. The food is delicious, hot, fresh, and cost efficient. We ordered Szechuan Shrimp, which was delicious with fresh shrimp and perfect sized peppers, onions, and spice. Shrimp and Beef Lo Mein, which had perfect al dente noodles and loaded with lots of shrimp and beef. The portions are plentiful and served in nice containers. read more

My family and I ordered carryout for dinner in mid-March. We hadn't ordered from here in a couple of years. We used to get steak and cheese subs We ordered crab rangoon (5 pieces - cream cheese and onion), bourbon chicken, Mongolian beef, triple delight (jumbo shrimp, chicken, beef, mixed vegetables, brown sauce), vegetable lo mein, a side of mixed veggies, and a side of steamed broccoli. The crab rangoon was so good. We fought over who would get the last piece. The Mongolian beef had quite a kick! The beef was really tender. I appreciated that there was more beef than scallions. My dad enjoyed the triple delight. There were big pieces of chicken throughout, the beef was tender, and the shrimp were a decent size. My sister loved the bourbon chicken. It had a good flavor. My mom liked her vegetable lo mein. She used the side of veggies to add to her lo mein. Overall, we would return! read more

I would like to keep this short and simple. Over the last 20 years I've had over at least 50 different dishes of Singapore noodles (fried mei fun). It is my absolute favorite asian dish and probably my most favored comfort food. Goodies knows EXACTLY how to make this dish right. Their rice noodles are always perfectly cooked. I believe they must soak the noodles in something pre cooking because other shops cannot manage the texture. Sometimes the noodles will be too hard as to not absorb the flavor. Like spaghetti noodles cooked al dente.. Wonderfully spiced with curry and the myriad of other things they use for flavor. The spice level is perfect, (its not spicy unless you get extra spicy). And even then it's a pleasant spicy that warms you up inside. It's always hot, it always tastes fresh, and it's priced incredibly well. I've been ordering from goodies for 5 years now and I don't think they have ever missed the mark that they set at first. Perfect Singapore noodles. First of all, the owner Wei is one of the nicest business owners ever!! He really cares about his customers and it shows. The young lady who answers the phone and greets when you arrive, is so pleasant. The food is delicious and is given in large portions. I cannot say enough great things about Goodies! I will NEVER spend my money at this place ever again! I work in the area and went there 3 times. Today I asked to have salt, pepper, ketchup, and mumble sauce on my fries. He said they put it on the side. I said ok but was curious as to why. He begin saying to me " do you go to McDonald's, or Chic fi la and ask them to do that?" I then backed away as I saw it was going another route. He basically got offended and thought I asked because he was Chinese. Most carry outs do place the condiments on the fries. So now we're going back n forth. I had paid for my food and told him no worries..I will not come back. He then chooses to give me my money back. The argument is still going on and Im offended because he kept repeating that I chose to ask him that because he is chinese. So now he is insinuating that I was being racist. If that was the case, I would not have stepped foot in there the many times that I purchased food. The guy came from the back to settle things down and made sure I received my refund receipt to assure I got my money. That's when he decided to get bolder! The guy from the back put his arm inbetween us like we was gonna fight...he told the guy no.. as if he was ready to fight me. I always delt with a female, this guy must of been the owner or manager as he was bold enough to create the toxic debate. Please be aware of the guy with a basic hair cut, glasses, and about 5'11 stature. I refused to describe him as chinese because that would mean that I am "racist". I have given this restaurant chance after chance but today was the absolute last time I ever order food from their. I can't take away from the fact that the food is good, it really is. its simple and consistent and I appreciate both of those aspects of Goodie's Cafe. the reason I will never go again is three fold: 1. The customer service is the worst, beyond rude and pushy. On this point alone I should never eat here again. How do they expect customers to stand for this and keep coming back. 2. You have to be pretty bold to make a special phone call to a customer just to ask if they want to add anymore to the tip. I was beyond shocked when this happened. Once again I should have ceased eating at this place at that moment but I gave them one more chance..... 3. Today I ordered over the phone and went in to pick up my food, after giving the gentlemen my credit card he inserted it and handed it right back to me and said I was good. Something didn't feel right so I leaned over and looked at the machine. The CC machine was asking the customer (me) to input a tip amount. If I would have left he easily could have entered any amount. Stay away from this place, so many other good options in the area beside this place. No worth the headache!! read more

Ordered a smorgasbord for the holiday: Crab Rangoons - Some of the best I've ever had. Spring Rolls - perfect texture and delicious. Pan Fried Dumplings - a little burnt, will probably try steamed next time. General Tso Shrimp - first time ever having this. The shrimps were massive and delicious. Orange Chicken - good, about what you'd normally expect. General Tso - very good, slightly more breading than usual, great taste. They were extremely generous with fortune cookies, and sauces. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area! Of note, we are vegetarians so our review only pertains to the non-meat options. We love that they have multiple vegetarian options (which is not always the case at Chinese restaurants). They have various tofu dishes, like General Tso's tofu and Sesame tofu. Also, their portions are HUGE! They really pack the containers to the brim with food. We always have leftovers for the next 2 meals. Overall, their food is really delicious, the veggies are fresh and cooked well, and the dishes are not overly greasy/oily. We have tried the following and everything was delicious: - vegetable lo mein - greens beans with spicy soy garlic sauce - sesame tofu - broccoli stir fry with house brown sauce - Singapore rice noodles with veggies The only drawback is their fried rice. Stopped in today 1/22/23 and ordered pan fried dumplings and shrimp egg rolls . The dumplings were the BEST I've ever had ! The perfect thickness of the wrapper , filling was delicious with lots of flavor , and the dipping sauce was flipping fantastic ! The egg rolls were just ok but not enough shrimp and the cabbage was dry and flavorless ( boo ) . The packet of the hot mustard was excellent, it was actually hot ! The store itself was spotless and and really cute and the owners are very nice too . The menu on Yelp is outdated, she said it was their Christmas menu and handed me the current menu to order from . Every time we go to visit my parents in Bowie, we stop at Goodies for food! The food is delicious and cooked with care. My only issue is the hot and sour soup! Honestly it's horrible. There's no flavoring and it takes like spicy water. Avoid the hot and sour soup but indulge in everything else!!! read more
