I stumbled upon this place on Yelp and I live right around the corner and had no clue that they had such great reviews so I decided to give it a try! I would compare Hummus Way to Cava but honestly, this place has much better options and I'd much rather support a local business than a chain! Hummus Way is located in an unassuming strip but I was impressed by how absolutely clean and tidy everything was and how nice and bright the location looked. The menu was easy to read and they had plenty of options to choose from! First and foremost, the staff was SO kind, helpful, and friendly. I ordered a bowl and was immediately asked me if I was vegan or vegetarian so they could help assist in suggestions - I'm not but I thought it was lovely that they asked. The gentleman helping me asked if it was my first time and was patient in walking me through the menu. He said because it was my first time, to try lots of half and half options. I chose half basmati rice, half couscous. For my meat, I chose half lemon chicken shawarma and half paprika shawarma - both were very good and tender but the lemon turmeric option was a standout! I definitely recommend trying their array of toppings and sauces. The chickpea croutons were suggested by the wonderful gentleman helping me and I'm so glad he did - they were so good! Everything on my bowl tasted so flavorful and fresh. The bowls have generous portions and servings so one bowl can easily be 2 meals - awesome leftovers! Food is good, portions are generous, and staff are friendly...BUT it's ridiculous how crowded it has become. Very happy for them but it's ridiculous as a customer. As a result, they don't prioritize online pick up orders nor do they designate where to pick up them up. I arrived 30 minutes after I placed my order and had to wave down an occupied employee just to tell them about my order, in which they replied "we'll take care of it." A few minutes later, they told me they just started making it. What's the point of ordering online if they're not making it until I arrive? This was frustrating. So I waited another 20 minutes and another 10 minutes to get utensil, a total of 60 minutes. If it's this busy often, I hope they adjust the expected pick up time to be more accurate. Moreover, they need have a better system of handling online orders. Until that happens, I won't return. read more

I love this place!! Perfect for vegans and non vegans. I did an online order, I happen to be vegan and accidentally added something that wasn't vegan but put "vegan" in the notes of the order and the employee let me know when I came in and didn't put it in my bowl. Love the attention to detail!! As a vegan it sometimes doesn't feel safe to eat at places that aren't 100% plant based but I'm very comfortable eating here. One of my favorite local spots for Middle Eastern food! Making the distinction that this is a Halal, Middle Eastern place (as opposed to Greek-centric) because it does well at Middle Eastern dips and sauces, and isn't super... olive-y? Portions are absolutely out of control here. My go-to bowl comes with a piece of pita, and lasts me 2.5 meals. Everyone is incredibly generous here, so I remember to tip well! It's Chipotle-style BYOB, with helpful menu descriptions as you progress down the line. While I firmly believe you should experiment on your own with these bowls, I have a few suggestions: - The mushroom shawarma is insane, even for you, meat-eaters. Tender, juicy, and slightly spicy. - The zhoug falafel is a hit or miss, but tends to be drier and crispier. It's fried fresh to order, so remember to ask for it at the beginning and save some time. - The harissa hummus and the eggplant hummus are the two best dips. - Toppings and dressings at the end are unlimited! - Try their rotating refreshers/juices. Very similar to agua fresca, with interesting daily options. My favorite is the hibiscus mint. A great local business that values its customers, and shows it in the quality of its food. The mixture ain't half bad actually, but the oil is not hot enough, which means the falafel is soggy, not crispy as it should be. Very disappointing. Here's what I think - I think these guys have a nice concept and a fresh idea, and they come up with great packaging of ingredients, for a fair price. But I also think they have no idea how to cook. I always come here for their loaded wedges, which are their fried potato wedges + choice of salad + choice of meat + unlimited toppings/sauces. Love that they allow the option to do half and half for the proteins (2 half scoops of their protein, beef + chicken may be an extra charge!). Their toppings are very fresh to help cut add acidity to the saltiness of the meat/wedges. My personal favorites include the tabouleh, red cabbage slaw and fried chick peas. I was excited to see this on my gps and I thought it was just a really cool street name. But when I zoomed in I realized it was a well-reviewed restaurant very close to my job. I like the concept-it's kind of the "have it your way" you might find at like chipotle or blaze pizza only this is a middle eastern type cuisine. You have the option to pick a salad or rice or couscous or other base option with your choice of protein (ie beef or chicken or falafel) and multiple toppings, seasonings, sauces. There are so many choices you can very well overwhelm your tastebuds with your choices. Everything looked fresh, was flavorful, and the employees were very pleasant. We came at lunch hour and they looked a touch overwhelmed but it was a successful new venture. They might still have some kinks to iron out but it happens in any place.
