The. Best. Falafel. My husband and I each got the combo plate with different sides so we could share. I got the Falafel with rice and hummus, he got his with salad and babaganoush. Both were fantastic! The rice was flavorful, tender, and fluffy. The hummus was rich and creamy. His salad was tangy and the perfect side to all the rich flavors. Overcooked, oversalted lamb, everything else under seasoned and without flavor which isn't typical of this type of food. Hubby agreed nothing had much flavor and was very disappointed. Since I've moved from Seattle there are a few restaurants that I crave, and this is the one that I crave the most, Hummus Cafe! I visit twice a year and I'm always STUNNED that the owner remembers me, my family and my daughter. She's absolutely amazing! I've been coming for years but only about twice a year because we live in California. Outside of the fantastic service, the Koshari is what keeps me coming back again and again. I always order it with a little extra sauce and onions. It's AMAZING, the ultimate in comfort food, and the type of comfort food that doesn't leave you with a belly ache afterward, you feel full, and ready to take on the rest of the day! If I was ever on the show, "The Best Thing I Ever Ate," this would be up there. I've had koshari from other restaurants, and it's NEVER as good as Hummus Cafe! PLUS the chicken is also phenomenal, this restaurant is a gem, it's a warm hug of deliciousness that never disappoints! This is the best Gyro restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of eating at. I specifically get the spicy gyro. One day I forgot my debit card, and the owner said don't worry about it, and pay her when I can. An extremely kind gesture! This is a family owned restaurant, and everyone that works there is super kind, and polite. The price is fair, and the portion sizes are adequate. After looking at several other Greek places in the area, we chose this one because of good reviews, vegan menu options, and prices that were much lower than some other more pretentious looking options. We were very pleased at how great the food was - rather delicious and great portions. We shared the dolmithas and both had variations of the falafel plate. Additionally, it felt like a family business and the service was wonderful. They were fast and very friendly. I don't even want to try the other, more pricey places nearby. Discovered this place a month ago by chance and am I glad to have found it !. Its typical middle eastern comfort food and its delicious !. We had the chicken shawarma and the vegetarian plate (the falafel is the best I have ever had). The falafel is so fresh and tasty with the hummus being so creamy and the pitas soft as ever. My husband says the shawarma is very well done and spiced evenly and loves eating that flavor. Everything is fresh made to order. The service is courteous and warm, the couple are really friendly. Some of the worst food I have ever eaten. No flavor and items not as described on their website. The Dolmathes (6 pcs) were good and the fries weren't bad. The four other items I purchased were thrown away since, in my opinion, they were not edible. I tried calling them to let them know and the conversation, although they tried to help, was a trainwreck. I tried explaining that the eggplant, in the fried pickled eggplant sandwich, wasn't fried or pickled. I've driven past this place probably 50+ times and keep meaning to try it out. Well I finally did and my only regret is I didn't get in sooner. Service was very friendly. We were given plenty of recommendations as neither of us had been there. We ordered two different shawarma dishes and they were both great. The hummus is top notch. Reasonably priced. On the back of the menu they have some combo plates, so my sister and I both got the chicken Gyro. It came with fries and a drink. The Hummus Cafe is such a Greenwood gem! My favorite order is their falafel combo. The pita is tender, the falafel is crisp and flavorful, and they include pickles that boost the flavor even more. Even in December the tomatoes are tasty, which is some kind of magic! Their fries are excellent and I crave them at least 3x week (crisp, but still taste like potato). We started with the dolmathes, which for me is always a great litmus test for this type of cuisine. It came with 6 pieces and was served warm. They were quite delicious, with a great flavor and texture, and were on par with Caravan Kebab in Edmonds. I didn't want anything too heavy, so chose not to go for a kebab platter (though it was really hard not to!), but I also wanted to try something different than just a gyro (though that is what my friend got). I went with the Lamb Shawerma Sandwich and got it spicy. The sandwich was mouthwatering good! The lamb was so tender and juicy, and the array of veggies, fries, and sauce inside, combined with the spiciness, made for one delicious sandwich that didn't last very long. This was in no part due to its size, as it was a very good portion. The espousal of my hunger and its amazing flavor caused it to disappear quite quickly! I also got to taste the gyro, and it was quite scrumptious itself. The restaurant is quite small inside, but it has a nice cozy family atmosphere. It is run by a very sweet couple that were very nice and answered all my questions. The food came out very quickly and was hot and fresh, and the portion sizes were quite good. The sandwiches (and really most menu items) were not very expensive at all, which is amazing considering the quality and portion size. First time eating here for lunch. Quite disappointed. I asked for an order of eggplant that wasn't fried. I'm not a fan of fried food and the server stated there was a dish of baked eggplant that I could order. It turned out to be eggplant dip. Huh? Ok, if that's the only non fried eggplant so be it....but then the tabouli dish appeared and it was so salty it was utterly unappetizing. When I took it back to the owner and stated how salty it was....her return comment was "it's the lemon". I don't think so. And rather than offer to redo the dish...she was simply unpleasant. Hands down the best Egyptian and Middle Eastern food in town without a doubt. The service is always great, especially during COVID and the difficult times everyone is dealing with. Friendly family service and I have got to say, I am pretty impressed with their cleanliness and awareness when it comes to the whole staff wearing masks & keeping distance between customers. Also Nani is awesome and quite the character, so I enjoy chatting with her every time I go in. Falafels are on a different level and the moist, juicy Kofta always hits the spot especially with their hummus. Two Egyptian dishes that are a must is the savory Kushari, and the dessert that is Om Ali which is a joy to look forward to during winter. This is my third time at the Hummus Cafe. I came to leave a review because I've been impressed with their food every time. Granted, I've always gotten the same thing - the beef and lamb gyro plate with hummus and salad, but the fact that I keep coming back for that counts for something too. What I'm impressed with is how tasty and fresh this food has been every time and also the portion size. For me, I get a little over two meals out of their plate, for $16. The hummus is creamy and delicious. Plenty of pita. And the salad feels like a salad actually prepared, not from a bag. With shredded carrots (like from a actual shredder, not pre-bought thin slices), and the tomatoes actually have flavor. I got it to go, I waited less than 10 minutes. Customer service wise, it's been fine. If you're the type that's looking for super ultra friendly faces, might not be the place for you. They just seem straight forward and are approachable enough, which is just fine with me, esp since the food quality delivers! read more

I went there ones, the owners are nice, the place was very hot and was not comfortable setting there and eating in the heat. The food was good. I had Lamb Kabob, there were very few pieces of meat only...... I think that there were around 5 small pieces so I did not worth ti to spend the money on such a dish. The Shawarma was good but there was very little amount of meat in the sandwich. I think that most people there were eating Gyro Sandwiches. This place was okay. I've driven past this restaurant all the time but never stopped by. I finally decided to come with a friend to try their food. I didn't come here with very high expectations because I didn't want to expect too much so I would be disappointed. However, while looking over the menu, the owner or staff came by to welcome and give some recommendations. He seriously pumped up his food so much that it set our expectations too high. He said that their eggplant and chicken was the best in the state of Washington and was really mouthwatering. According to him, the rice and fries are the best and that nothing beats their food. He also said that people drive from Tacoma (or somewhere far away) just to get their food. He said that you won't find Mediterranean food as good as you'll find here. With all that was said, the bar was set pretty high. I wouldn't say the food was the best that I ever had. The beef gyro meat was really good. It was very tasty. I got the chicken shwarma plate and the meat was a little on the dry side. I did like the spices mixed into the meat though. It made it taste really unique. The fries were okay but not very seasoned. The rice tasted like rice - nothing really that special that made the food memorable. After our meal, he asked if there were other restaurants in the city that could beat their's and in my head, I thought... "Mr. Gyros" but I didn't have the heart to pop his balloon that his food was the greatest ever. Instead, I said that their food was pretty good and smiled. Their food was pretty good but not the best that I've ever had. I appreciated his confidence and pride though. Delicious little cafe for Mediterranean food! I was really in the mood for a gyro and since it is not something I often get when a craving comes on for one it is pretty vicious! The place is pretty small and from the looks of it very popular. We got in and saw one little table that was empty and squeezed in. Steve and I each got gyros. I got fries and Steve got some appetizers. Everything was fantastic! The gyros were delicious as well as the appetizers. Everything was fresh and had a wonderful flavor to it. The staff was friendly and were really moving to keep up with all of the customers but we got served in a very reasonable amount of time. I am really looking forward to going back here! read more

The owners appeared to be who was working. I think that makes a huge difference in an experience. They obviously take pride in what they have and the care in which they serve you. But now I know why.... because they have THE BEST FALAFEL ever! I ordered the falafel plate dinner and I fell in lover with the falafel after my first bite. The deep fried ground chickpeas yummy balls were fried perfectly, it's very crispy outside but the inside is soft and full of favors. I believe they put extra parsley in the mixture and a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top also added a nice touch. The rest of the items were ok. I also tried the hummus, fries, rice, lamb kabobs, and salad. The fries were a little soggy and the salad was lack of dressing. However, this is a solid 4 star joint because of their falafels... this is a must stop and you won't regret it!!!! read more

I tried liking this place. I love egyptian food and i had legit ones. Thats one of the perks i have of having an egyptian friend. It was her birthday and I decided to surprise her with egyptian food. The taste was really meh. Entire food was really dry. I had koushary, shawarma, falafel, and kofta. Nothing was really that good. I was super disappointed that this is only egyptian restaurant in seattle. I dont think i will be back.
