John at Human Computer has gone far above and beyond to get me up and running both recently, and for the past many years. I just experienced a complete meltdown of my old laptop (purchased elsewhere some time ago). I called several big box stores which all told me the same thing: it would take four or five days for them to even look at it, during which time I would be without my computer. Then another four or five days to even fix it, or say it could not be fixed. Then I would be on my own to get my programs reloaded on the new computer. John at Human Computer on the other hand, FIXED MY PROBLEM IN LESS THAN ONE DAY. He analyzed my computer right away, while I was still in the store, helped me assess (honestly, based on MY needs, not on "making a sale") whether to keep going with this one or get a new computer. Once I decided to go with a new one, he helped me pick the best new one for my needs based on his long-term knowledge of my computing habits and preferences. He got the information he needed from my old computer, to set up the new one, then sent me home with my still (barely) functioning old computer while he set up the new one for me. With Human Computer I did not miss even one minute of work time, I always had the full range of computing ability at my fingertips... where with the big box stores I would have had minimal support, no personalized knowledge of my requirements and needs, and could have been out of luck for as much as two weeks till my new system was up and running. Not only that, but John has provided exceptional customer support and guarantees, during this first week of my getting to know my new computer. I had a few small hiccups getting everything set up...as is to be expected. In every case he was immediately available and responsive, and helped me find the quickest way to resolve the issues (all of which are now resolved). He took the time to personally guide me through adjustments and modifications I could make myself at home, without having to bring the computer back to the store, and he went out of his way to make sure I have everything I need to get my work done. I now have a top of the line computer that allows me to do everything I am used to doing on my old one, but with much more speed, memory, storage and reliability than I had before. Human Computer also sold me the new model at $500 less than it would have cost me in a big box store (where I would have had a much longer timeframe, and no personalized support, in setting it up). Leaving reviews isn't something I typically do, but, I feel I probably ought to. So, I have this motherboard that's a couple years old without a heatsink. A friend had given it to me after upgrading their own machine, but didn't provide that with it. To check the board, I'd pulled a heatsink from an older AMD board, thinking that it'd be fine. It wasn't. It bolts on completely differently. No problem, so I took the heatsink out of my main computer which is also be an Intel -- and everything worked just fine. Temps were good, all clear. This built the incorrect assumption that I could simply pick up another and I'd be well on my way, good to go. This basic test felt like an affirmation that this was all I needed. Whoops. When I arrived at the shop, I was asked extremely reasonable questions that I was not prepared for, again, working on that prior assumption. I hadn't brought specifications on what the board is, chip-type, etc. We saw the location and thought, "oh hey, let's stop in there". It really was my mistake, there's very little that I could be helped with. I was unprepared. Being turned away due to not having enough information to help me / not being the correct location was something I was entirely prepared for. What it was that bothered me and why I am writing this is that I felt extremely belittled by the employee I spoke with. After asking his questions in a befuddled condescending tone --and just as a couple had arrived to be helped and we were about to leave, he looked over at my father who happened to be with me and, with a smirk, remarked, "This guy is a terrible technician." The whole experience bummed me out, and with all the other things happening in my life right now, it just left me sad. I'd called back when I arrived home after collecting the needed information, reaching the same employee who simply remarked abruptly that I'd be far better off going to Amazon, or Ebay before hanging up. Which, is fair, I'd arrived with a weird query. I just thought that considering a local business in hopes of avoiding needing to stoop to amazon or ebay might be a decent consideration. The last place my husband and I took our computers for repair would keep them for extended periods of time no matter the issue - never less than 2 weeks. They also had a tendency to speak to me like I was an idiot - who appreciates that?? We did this for many years. Some time ago I took my computer to Human Computer at the recommendation of a friend. I was happy with the turn around time - it was ready within a day. Recently I had to take mine and my husbands computers in as I had been unable to get into my e-mails on either one and they needed cleaning out. I picked them up - took them home and found I was still unable to get into my e-mails. They requested I being them both in again. I took them back and in short order they were fixed. When I picked them up they informed me that there would be no charge - my husband and I were of course prepared to pay for the work they had done - but they insisted. I was happy to hear it because the drive to get to their location is some distance from home with heavy traffic - a pain in the neck (or something else) I would recommend Human Computer because they are ethical in their dealings and their turn around time on the computers is quick. They are harder for us to get to but I wouldn't dream of going back to our old place. read more

My laptop was dying a slow death. I bought a new hard drive a couple of months ago thinking I would install it myself. I decided against it after examining my computer skills a bit more closely (ha!), and HC did the installation of my operating system and loaded all of the drivers, etc... It was quick and easy and very reasonable. But alas, I should have just bought a new laptop all together. Mine was old and started having power stem issues. It finally died on me (and the worst time possible - figures!), so I went to HC looking for a new laptop, but I wanted to transfer my new hard drive and operating system. I had just paid for all of that separately! HC had a great, refurbished, professional grade laptop at a great price. They agreed to swap out my hard drive and make sure I was all set. I paid for the laptop and they did the work as a trade for the parts on my old laptop. WIN-WIN! I asked for a quick turnaround, and they told me next day. To my delight they called me later that afternoon and told me everything was ready to go. The crew at HC is patient, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and very human indeed. I visited the human computer store for the very fist time. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Mike with a warm hello and a willingness to help with whatever issue I was carrying in my hands. I sat my 10 year old PC and explained my issue. He first let me know of how much operating systems have changed in the past ten years and told me they could help me but at the end of the day I could get something great for a decent price and up to date or I could just bring home my old computer. He presented to me a great amount of All In One Computers until I found the one that I wanted. Never pressured me to buy but definitely interested in educating me about how much has changed in 10 years. He took the time to turn it on and navigating some features he wanted to check out. I was not naive when I walked in there, I knew I needed to upgrade but it was very nice to hear that I could fix my computer if that's what I choose to do. When my computer stopped working properly I wanted to take it to a locally-owned shop that could diagnose and fix the problem at a fair price. Boy, was Human Computer on Van Buren the solution! Without any appointment, I walked my CPU (computer processing unit) into their store and encountered John. Although he was just finishing up with another customer, he greeted me warmly and had me hook up my computer on a work table. He looked at its preliminary "symptoms", suggested what the problem might be, wrote out a work order estimate and sent me on my way, promising that he'd investigate further and call me back that day. Within an hour, he called to discuss the problem and the solution. A short time later, he called to tell me it was fixed. HC deserves the highest praise--they handled me in a friendly, but professional manner, solved my problem, and charged me a reasonable amount for their time and expertise. I have dealt with this business on four separate occasions. I have NEVER written a review for any business in the past and the ONLY ones I would write a review on are COSTCO and HUMAN COMPUTER! The people who run this business are friendly, competent, honest, I can not STRESS ENOUGH THE GREAT EXPERIENCES I HAVE HAD WITH THIS COMPANY. If you want your computer fixed right...the first time...at a FAIR AND REASONABLE PRICE.....human computer is the place to go. I once took my laptop to Office Depot to get fixed. They took weeks to get back to me and charged my $90 to look at it. THEN they told me it would cost $600 to fix it! I only paid $589 for it! I have used the services of Human Computer in Riverside for some time. I have bought work and personal computers from them as have some of my friends. They have also taken care of all my computer problems for me (most caused by me!) Recently I stopped in to buy my wife a new Tablet for Christmas - her HP was dying. Gave me a wonderful price for a unit that was a lot more than I expected to get. I love the help I get from them and the willingness to listen to all my stupid questions. I am nothing close to a computer wise person, so I just rely on them and they haven't failed me yet. I recently bought some cables from Best Buy and then stopped by HC to ask them a question that BB didn't have a clue about. I found out I spent way too much for my cables. Bought more from HC for about 1/2 the price and returned the others to BB. Going back tomorrow with my Dell for a fix. read more

I've purchased every computer I've owned since the Pentium appeared on the market at Human Computer. John has an uncanny knack of knowing when I'm ready for a new one and which one fits my needs. He is also ready with advice that can save a lot of frustration as in "Don't load Windows 10." If there are a number of customers lined up for service (Often getting viruses clean out), or looking for an upgrade machine, I find it worth the time to take a seat and listen to Mike respond with solutions to customer's problems and inquiries like he's heard the same stories again and again. If you've done business at Human Computer, they remember you. If you do some comparison shopping before a purchase, you'll find the prices spot on. I found Human Computer on Google searching for a well rated Computer repair service. My old desktop finally gave up the ghost and resisted all my attempts at resuscitation. To make matters worse, I destroyed my operating system, by unsuccessfully trying to reinstall Windows. But not to worry Jon found an saved copy on my disk drive I didn't even know I had. The problem turned out to be my video card, an old AMD R9270. He replaced it with a used Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti video card, upgraded my SSD to a new Samsung 860 EVO 512G and reinstalled Windows by the next day. He has a warranty of 1 year for replacement parts, and even promised to help for free in case I accidentally mess up while reinstalling my apps and getting back up to speed. My Lenovo G50 laptop mouse had stopped working. I replaced the mouse, replaced the battery and even changed the usb port but to no avail. Looked up Human Computer in Riverside to have the issue diagnosed and resolved. I met John at the store and told him about the issue. He looked at it and within a few seconds told me that the usb is the issue. What was amazing is the mouse issue was resolved right away within couple of minutes. When I asked him about the charges. Johns responded that it took him couple of minutes to fix it and he just can not charge for something like that. How many businesses can you find like that these days? I would like to express my dissatisfaction with customer service at this establishment. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro for $350, and I was informed that it came with a 90-day warranty, with the exception of the keyboard. However, just two days later, I noticed small lines appearing on the screen. When I returned to the store, I was informed that the issue was not covered under the warranty. As compensation, I was offered $50, which I accepted. The following day, when I opened my MacBook, I discovered that it was locked by the previous owner. This situation was quite distressing, as I never expected a computer store to sell a stolen device. I was also threatened for the police to show up to my house. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE!! read more
