HuHot is a really cool concept and definitely worth visiting for the experience. You pay for the buffet and then any add-ons will be added to your bill. You grab a bowl and fill it with vegetables and meat to your heart's content. There is a menu with sauce/flavor suggestions that can help if you're not sure what flavors will work. You take your bowl over to the grill where you watch them stir-fry your bowl in front of you. It's hard to say that the food is just OK when you're the one responsible for what's in it, right? Even after many experiments I haven't been able to make anything really great. On the plus side, service here has always been pretty good, and I've been a few times now. There's always plenty of seating, and I've never had a wait. The decision maker here for me is the way I feel the rest of the day after eating here, and unfortunately, I don't feel great. If someone really wanted to come here, I would. But it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

We used to love coming here. It had been a long while so we thought we'd come for our anniversary. BIG mistake. The guy who greeted us had like no emotion. He seated us at a booth at the back of the restaurant that had a broken seat cushion. Once we sat at our table, we waited for several minutes and nobody came over to get our drink order or anything. So we went and got our first plate of Mongolian BBQ (which is still amazing and was the only good thing about our visit). When we got back to our table, we saw that the booth next to us had people who came in after us and they had drink orders already brought to them. Then a server lady finally noticed us and said, "Oh, where did you guys come from?" She then took out drink orders. We both ordered huckleberry lemonade. She was gone for a while only to bring back waters. She then said she forgot what we ordered and then was gone for another while and finally brought us our lemonades which were nothing special flavor-wise. Then we asked if the amount of rewards points we had would cover the 3 of each (crab rangoons, egg rolls, and pot stickers) appetizer and she said yes. All three items had really dry exteriors and the filling inside each was pretty mediocre. Our server then asked for the code on my app for the free appetizer. I gave it to her and then a while later she said it wasn't valid. Then I had to show her and then her manager (who looked very unprofessional with messed up hair and a grungy hoodie) and shoes on my HuHot app that I have 149 points and that's more than enough because 100 points=1 free appetizer. That manager then asked me to write my number on the back of a receipt, then she went all the way upstairs and didn't come back for a long time. Once she did she said she still couldn't figure it out so that she would still comp us for a free appetizer. Phew! Then the original server came over and handed us a receipt and said that she'll be our cashier when we're ready but quickly left before we could say we were ready. Then we waited for another super long while. That server never came back but eventually the hoodie manager came back and quickly took our payment. Staff was so nice! The food was ok. There was a piece of my chicken that was raw, and it just turned my whole appetite. Especially being pregnant and worried that I had raw chicken. I last reviewed HuHot in Oct of 2022...and gave them three stars then, and am dong the same thing this time. Other than great service and a nice selection of ingredients and toppings/sauces, the final flavor and taste of the prepare food is ultimately what matters. And again this last time it was "OK". Just "OK". As I stated in my 2022 review, I made three suggestions...1.) tend to the toppings bar and the sauce bar and keep things CLEAN; 2.) invest in a second grill, and 3.) slow down the cooking process. This visit, they addressed just one of the three suggestions I made. The toppings and sauce bars were much more organized and clean, so thank you for that. However, they're still only operating one grill with two cooks working it together. That may work from a financial perspective (and getting more paid customers through faster) but it fails with me as both of my bowls finished with what I thought was a semi-cooked state. Specifically, the veggies were still raw and crunchy, and my pork and chicken were done just enough to get by. So, yeah...please slow down and properly cook the bowls just a few minutes longer? That and the grille cleaning process always scares me. When I see that giant scraper come out and one of the cooks having his way with the burnt on reminants of someone else's bowl (using water to help scrub...which seeps everywhere) and the wet scrapings flying every which way...and even into my cooking food...is enough to irritate me a wee bit. Hopefully a manager will see this and make some changes to slow the process, and ensure the scrapings are contained to the table and the garbage hole in the center...and not the adjacent food that is still cooking...please? Oh, and the outer edge of the grille and the catch tray...? Maybe wipe that out every once in a while too, yes? Three "OK" Stars for good wait service, a nice selection of toppings and sauces, but nothing higher until the food is cooked longer. read more

Pretty decent food. Your instructed to fill one bowl at a time (there is even a sign to direct you to do so), but I noticed most diners immediately filled a bowl with protein sand a second bowl with veggies and sauces. Be sure to look at the recipes online for the most ideas on what sauces to pair. My challenge with this place is that the buffet for selecting protein and veg can get pretty messy as diners drop items. Same with sauces. And the line gets so long that it wraps into the buffet area and log jams. I wish they would have thought traffic placement out a bit better. They good is as healthy as you want it...or not. Plenty of noodles, rice, meats, seafood egg, tofu, beef, and sauces. There is a station to stop after cooking for sriracha, crunchy toppings, sesame seeds, and chopstick. Staff might have been a bit short handed the night we were there as it was hard to find our server at times. There are plenty of options to choose from with a few different kinds of noodles, proteins which included chicken, pork, beef, sausage, and seafood. There's a lot of veggie options to add, as well as pineapple and mango. Then you have sauces, broths, oils and other juices to top it with before you have it grilled up. The line was a bit long because it was busy, but those guys on the middle were working really hard to get things cooked up and moving things along pretty quickly. There's already food mixed in the other containers where it had just opened. The glass over the food had fingerprints all over it. One of the workers kept going back-and-forth as he still filling the trays after it was open and was literally putting hard boiled eggs in with his bare hands no gloves and then just going over there and grabbing another container of stuff. Very cool concept to make your own bowl with whatever protein, veggies and extra stuff you like. We did like the fact that you can go as many times you want . Highly suggest checking out the recipe cards they have to make your bowl to give you some inspiration but also whole going for a tasty meal. We had to use a second bowl just for the sauce , recipe cards suggest at least a few ladles to get that good flavor. We also tried the potstickers which were delicious . I'm always a fan of unique dining experiences, so when I had the opportunity to visit HuHot Mongolian Grill, I was excited to check it out. We were quickly seated and given instruction from our server who took drink orders and asked if we wanted appetizers. We ordered the egg drop soup, which we later decided we would not do again. It tasted like canned chicken noodle soup-not very good at all. Then we went up to the buffet where we selected our base-noodles or rice. Then heap on the meat and veggies. Finally, you end up at the sauce station, where you drizzle different sauces over your concoction. This area was messy-lots of dripped sauces everywhere. I'm not sure how they could avoid that, but it was a little off-putting to see such a mess. After you gather your food, you hand it over to a chef who cooks it on a flat surface grill. It's fun to watch-there are utensils being tossed in the air, fast moving people and different orders being tracked by some unseen system that proved to be accurate-everyone got the right food handed back to them. The buffet is all you can eat, so you can enjoy lots of great food for one price. It's fun to experiment with different toppings and see what things you like. I can imagine that during a busy time, it could take awhile to get your food, but it's fun to watch it be cooked, so I view that as dinner and a show! read more

Environment: Lots of seating and pretty open for big party's. I went at lunch and it wasnt super busy. The pricing is pretty reasonable for 15 all you can eat is not bad deal for what you are getting!. There services was good and everyone was really friendly. I would say that the counter were kinda dirty and maybe should be cleaned a litte bit more often but I understand it gets busy and it is buffet style. Food: For starters this Mongolian bbq place does have lots of options. But the meat isn't great quality at all and there are not tons of protein options that seem fresh. But they do have tons of vegetables and sauce options to go with everything. I would say this place was very mediocre Mongolian bbq but for 15 all you can eat not bad and definitely filling. Always cooked perfectly and the staff is always nice and helpful. But over all the food was just okay nothing too special but if you are looking to bring a big group somewhere where you can have all you can eat for a reasonable price this is a great place to go. But if you're looking for good quality I would say this place lacks that. We were the first customers on a Saturday. This is what the meat looked like. It looked like it was left out all night sitting in its own slime and juices. The veggies weren't much better. They were obviously left over from yesterday, slimy, brown, and disgusting. The sauces were the worst. Tip #1: Ask to be seated in Cheryl's section for the best service you can get. She usually has a few interesting stories and will fill up your drink and clean your table before you even thought about it. Tip #2: When you add sauces prior to cooking, add about 50% more than you think you need so that when it bubbles off in the cooking, you can still have a flavorful meal that isn't too dry. The "Burn the house down BBQ" + "black Thai peanut" is the perfect combo for me: strong flavor with a tingle but no burn. Tip #3: You can ask for a stream bowl to be placed over your seafood or anything you want steamed. Tip 4: the cooks really enjoy flipping the eggs up in the air and cracking them over the grill. This place is very accommodating if you've got a gluten intolerance. Not sure about celiac because it's so hard not to spill little bits into neighboring containers at the buffet area. The bowls they give you are pretty small so stuff is overflowing like crazy. But they give you a laminated allergen guide to carry into the buffet area and they clean the grill so you aren't eating gluten left behind on the grill at least. The food was fine. I definitely felt jealous of my friend because the normal noodles and the soy sauce containing sauces looked way better. The gf sauces are pretty mild- I used 7 ladles full on the bowl in the picture and the sauce was still almost undetectable. Always appreciative to have gf options though! read more

Lastly, when she came out with the check, she hit my grandma with the menus and handed the check over saying "here granny". Came here with some friends. It was our first time but they have been here multiple times. Basically it is a buffet of raw food and then they cook it for you. You can go as many times as you want to grab food and they cook it. They have a ton of sauces to choose from. I recommend adding a lot of sauce because once they cook the food it can be a little dry if you didn't add enough. They do have gluten free options which is what our friend was and they cook your food with different utensils and block off an area for you on the grill. -1 Star it's good but not amazing. -1 It also can get a little messy since it is buffet style, cross contamination can happen especially dealing with raw meats and such. My wife and I ate at this HuHots in Sandy yesterday afternoon prior to going to the Hale Center Theater just 5 minutes away. Everything was clean, the meat and vegetable selections were plentiful and fresh and the host, server and chefs were very friendly and professional. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon so it wasn't very busy. There were about 20 other customers there. The cooks did a great job with cooking our BBQ. We really enjoyed our early dinner and will definitely be back even though we live about 45 minutes away. The HuHots that used to be located closer to us in Spanish Fork unfortunately closed a few months back we live HuHots. There are some recipe cards that help select the oils and sauces. I recommend using them. Be sure to use enough oil. read more

Hard to write this great chain with one loser. Last 12 years in Billings,mt and Denver Co, we dine with them on a average twice to 3 times a month. Found them when my doctor wanted more veggies and protein in my diet. I was 350 pounds and now 218, smaller portions and more veggies did it. Didn't help being a chef, then restaurant owner and culinary graduate. So I know food and food service. Here at the Sandy unit, I tasted a off flavor from the pork. It was a freezer burn taste. I waited to hear any reaction from my other guests and after a couple bites they had mentioned something wasn't right. I softly asked our waitress if the manager could stop at the table, Didn't want a show. He came by and talked to him in a tone he could hear but not the other tables. I explained the situation and let him know we're long time huhot patrons. He said he would mention it to someone in the back and made me feel he was dismissing what he heard. My food was fine, My wife's shrimp was still translucent and undercooked. Grill was a mess, countertops were covered with spilled food. The guy in front of me had to tell the cook which meal was his, and that it "was the one unstirred and burning" He wasn't happy either. The crew was too busy talking about tv shows and recent movies they had seen than to cook the food properly. The manager made excuses; the grill was down until today, the crew is inexperienced, etc. Sorry, that doesn't cut it. However on my most recent visit, there was, and I kid not, a party of at least 50 or so, forcing the restaurant to close 2 hours before it's supposed to close due to staff shortage. The fact that this was allowed at all is beyond me. Apparently serving two extra people is too big of a strand but closing the entire restaurant to serve an entire extended family? Alright then.
