So, been here a couple of times. They just opened a few weeks ago so they're on the ball, probably full of corporate trainers and management, and things are pretty good. Hopefully after they leave the trend will continue. Overall it's a nice place, good service and food. Had breakfast, the Bourbon street platter. French toast with pecans and what appeared to be Nutella. Couple eggs, couple bacon, and a couple of fried green tomatoes. I had to ask for some syrup cause that's the way I eat french toast. It was very good, coffee was good. Another time I went in for lunch. Reason was I noticed on the menu first visit they have a montecristo sandwich. Since the demise of Bennigans, a good montecristo is pretty much non existent around here so I was looking forward to it. The photo on the menu looked different, but I was ordering it anyway. Well, the photo on the menu looked exactly what I got. Menu says battered and fried, but to cut to the chase, what I got was what I would describe as a montecristo made with french toast. No crispy outside, no deep fryer used, but looked just grilled. Maybe this is the "southwestern california" way, I dunno, but even tho the sandwich was pretty good, it wasn't what I was looking for. They serve a huckleberry syrup with it. I asked if there was anything different and the server came back with a starwberry syrup. No jam. I wasn't a fan of either syrups honestly, I ended up using a little packet of strawberry jam on the table. Seasoned, frozen fries were good tho. The sandwich wasn't bad per say, but it wasn't my thing. If you're looking for a Bennigans style MC, you'll have to keep looking. However, the menu is full of all sorts of interesting things for breakfast and lunch. While I didn't care for the sandwich the place overall is a keeper for me, and I will be going back for breakfast and to try some of the other lunch items. Tried Huckleberry's for the first time today. Overall, kind of disappointed with the food. It wasn't bad, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype for us. Most of the dishes were pretty bland and just lacked flavor. The restaurant was busy, clean, organized, and the service was fast. Food came out surprisingly quick. The highlight was honestly the staff -- the host was great, and our waitress Kayleigh was outstanding. Easily one of the nicest and most genuine waitresses we've had anywhere in DFW. She made the visit much better. For us, though, the food just didn't stand out enough to come back. Right now, Skillet N' Grill still holds the crown for breakfast. read more

I was really excited to try Huckleberry for Cajun brunch in Arlington, but unfortunately, it was a letdown. We started with the beignets, which came on top of a compote that tasted canned, and the "beignets" themselves were more like fried pancake bites--not at all what I expected. For entrées, we ordered the crab cake Benedict and the andouille sausage Benedict. Both were missing the Cajun punch I was hoping for--zero seasoning and no depth of flavor. The crab cakes were especially disappointing: instead of fresh, flavorful crab, they tasted overly fishy, more like tuna patties. Even the fried potatoes had no seasoning, and we had to add salt just to make them edible. I really wanted to love this place, but the food didn't live up to the hype. The wife and I had to attend an early afternoon funeral so we decided to finally check out huckleberries for breakfast. The restaurant has interesting decor. There is a fake alligator in a cage hanging from the ceiling. The music being played was covers of songs we all know in love, with a Cajun flair. Here in North Arlington our restaurants are influenced by two different groups of people who have come to the area for very different reasons. There are the students that attend UTA and there are thou who come to check out all of the entertainment that is available. It seems that the tourist that come to Arlington are a captive audience for restaurants in the immediate area. A handful of those restaurants don't focus their efforts on the quality of food. They are simply trying to get people fed. I recommend that people who come here to check out Six Flags or the pro sports to take the time to find one of our local restaurants that is simply amazing. Unfortunately, Huckleberry's is in the trying to get people fed category. The restaurant is rather big, but we were seated closely to other people. I am assuming there was only one waitress so they put every one in the same place. I usually give the staff feedback if I'm not impressed. I did not do so this time. Our waitress did a good job. We definitely got what we ordered. The cuisine is interesting. We went to Yellowstone this past summer and they Huckleberry everything everywhere. It's pretty much meat and potatoes in the area of Yellowstone. I was expecting that huckleberries would be a meat and potatoes, a traditional café gone commercial. Yes they do offer a huckleberry muffin, but their cuisine is Cajun. I didn't and still don't understand that set up. My wife and I tried the huckleberry muffin and I do not recommend it. It was as dry as a mummy's tongue. I chose the Cajun skillet and it was decent. It's supposed to be served on a hot skillet. There was a skillet, but hot it was not. The food wasn't horrible, but it did require some Tabasco sauce. The coffee was was definitely lacking on the heat side of things too. The group sitting behind me received cold coffee too. It was rather easy to hear ever ones conversation. My wife had the crabcakes eggs Benedict. She ate most of it and said it was OK. First time and my first impression was not the best the catfish was not seasoned it was so bland even after I asked for Creole sauce thinking it would give it some balance it was worse. My wife and I were here on a busy Sunday for brunch. We started with the "beignets", which were absolutely not what you'd expect if you've ever had beignets before. It looked like they were fried Pillsbury crescent rolls or something, but they were doughy and dense with zero flavor. Awful. I ordered Southern Swirl French Toast with bacon, sausage, eggs,, and what were supposed to be fried potatoes. The toast, bacon, and eggs were fine, but the sausage were straight up frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast links and the potatoes were unsalted, boiled, smashed red potatoes. No fry, no seasoning, just bland boiled little nubs of disappointment. Also awful. My wife ordered a shrimp Po' Boy with gumbo. Now, she and I adore Cajun and Creole food and we've had a fair share across the Gulf Coast and Louisiana. This ain't it. The shrimp was just frozen popcorn shrimp with no flavor and there were little fried catfish balls that presumably came frozen from the same distributor. All this on a single leaf of limp lettuce served on a basic sub roll. The worst offender though was the gumbo. It was legit like Campbell's Chunky canned gumbo with a little chicken thrown in. It was acidic, thin, and almost flavorless aside from the salt. Gumbo is a stew, so it should have some thickness and it has to have flavor. This gumbo was offensive to anyone who's even had a sniff of the real thing. If a restaurant is going to try to sell itself on a Louisiana/Cajun gimmick, they can't do it like this. Nothing was close to how it should have been aside from my toast. Include the high prices and you're much better off going to Denny's or better yet Tom's Dinner up Cooper Street. I was eating at Babes chicken about a week ago and I saw this place behind it and decided to go try it.Well me and my brother and mom get there and it was crowded.The lady said it was going to be like a 25 to 30 minute wait.So we decided to wait and we went outside.So it wasn't even 15 minutes and we went back in to see how much longer it was going to be and they said they already called my name and we would have to wait back in line which I wasn't happy about.But we decided to go ahead and wait luckily we only had to wait about 5 minutes or so.We finally got seated and as I was looking at the menu it's basically New Orleans type of food.There is food on here that you wouldn't usually see on like a regular breakfast cafe.And they serve their drinks out of mason jars.As I looked at the menu I decided to get the banana foster French toast.It came with the French toast,eggs,fried green tomatoes which I'm not a fan of but they wouldn't let me substitute.It also came with your choice of bacon or sausage.I got the bacon.As far as my food goes it was par.I mean the eggs were good and the bacon was nice and crispy but the French toast lacked flavor and the bread was really think and kind of chewy.And the fried green tomatoes I took a couple of bites and it just isn't for me.Not too mention the food is a little pricey.Most of the plates were over 17 bucks.And the little mason jar with Dr Pepper in it was 4 bucks.Overall I just didn't think the food was worth the price.Would I go back again?Maybe if I lived near the place but we went out of our way to eat here.If you live around here give this place a shot but i wouldn't go out of my way. read more

My daughter had the California burger and I think that was the only thing that seasoning. The fires had some Cajun seasoning and they were good. So glad my hubby and I were able to finally get over to try Huckleberry's Restaurant today (a Monday). We got there around 11:15A and seeing their menu of such great options made it hard to decide between their breakfast and lunch offers. Hubby went with the grilled Cajun catfish with cajun rice and decided on the chicken/sausage gumbo instead of salad. He gave the two thumps up rating for both -- but I could have easily guessed his rating by the empty plate when he was done. He loved it! As for me, I finally landed on something simple like their seasoned chicken strips with fries and coleslaw. Yum! It comes with their "Huck" BBQ sauce and it was a definite hit -- adding just the perfect amount of sweet/spice to the strips. All was fresh and hot to the table. I'm a huge iced tea fan and was glad to see they kept my glass (served in cute preserve jars) always filled with fresh tea. Thanks! Finally, I want to give a big shout out to both our server, River, (a delightful and attentive server) and also to the manager, Courtney. Courtney was there to greet us at our table and she and River both were great on checking on us throughout our meal. Now that's service. A lot of other menu items sounded pretty spicy, so it sounds like they cater more to clientele with a cajun-oriented palate. Super cute drinks that come in mason jars with sugar rims, even on the huckleberry lemonade and teas! We chose the French toast and a scramble and both were amazing! We couldn't even finish the scramble because it was such a large serving! We were dying to try the beignets but were so full we couldn't take another bite. We will definitely be back! This is the 3rd time we visited Huckleberry and each time it gets better and better ! We had Ezra the first two times and he was so attentive, informative and friendly we had to ask for him again, so we will be coming back for his service and the amazing food! The Banana Foster French Toast is my favorite and my husband has tried multiple items from the Chicken and Waffles and Chicken Fried Steak. We found all the portions to be big (which we love) and always hot. Drinks are delicious, coffee is strong and tasty. Restaurant is also very clean. 10/10 read more

Terrible! The hostess are beyond incompetent to begin with. Waited 57min to be seated for 4. People who arrived 20-30 min after us were seated before us at tables for 4 but were only parties of 2. Large groups have priority no matter what order they arrive in "we need to get the big parties out of the way" WTF?? By the time we were seated I didn't even order food because I was over the whole establishment. The food was HORRIBLE. Dennys, Ihop and even McDonald's are all better. My husband's steak and eggs were disgusting. The steak was freezer burn and tasted like it had been marinating in a can for days. He didn't even finish it. The potatoes have zero flavor. They can't make over medium eggs which is not hard when you know how to time them. I regret even giving this place a chance!! The one positive was my daughter's crispy bacon.
