We have been coming to Pappasito's for 25 or 30 years as long as they've been around. We've been to this location dozens of times. They are consistently very good. Most of the restaurants in the chain are good but this is one close to us so we're here a lot and we have never been disappointed. Good ambience great food. In fact being from Texas we eat a lot of Tex Mex food and the way I judge a restaurant that's new to me is how good are their cheese enchiladas. The cheese enchiladas at Pappasito's is head and shoulders netter than every other restaurant that I've eaten at. They are not even in the same category. It's a meal that I look forward to so much, every time the first bite is incredible. My wife loves the chicken flautas just as much. We don't come here all the time because we want to kind of save this, but we're always consistently rewarded with great service, and great food. The challenge is always not to eat too much because their chips and salsa are fantastic and you can easily order a margarita, chips and salsa and by the time your meal gets there which is fast, but you know the chips of salsa go fast too, you could be kind of full and we have to take home part of our meals because we're both light eaters We highly recommend this place. Went there for lunch with a friend on a weekday, we had 3 different people come to our table. 1st one made it clear she wasnt our server. Repeated it twice but took our drink order and my friend asked if we could get some queso. She politely took the order however when the queso was brought to our table we were told it was sent by accident and it wasnt for us. Took them 15 minutes to bring queso and another to actually get our order. A large group of people were already in the area and another large party came in after us. Which I understand, more people bigger tip vs 2 people. But come on, I ordered nachos and we spent almost an hour there for our lunch break. The hostess was an angel. I never have to be convinced to eat at Pappasitos. We decided to grab a quick lunch before going to a meeting. Brilyn was our waiter and he was very attentive and helpful. We went during lunch but it wasn't super packed. We ordered appetizers of queso with beef and guacamole. Since we were in a bit of a crunch for time, we ordered food shortly after. I had the shrimp quesadilla with a side of fresh jalapeño, my go to meal. Everything was good per usual. I also had a mango tea. The service was really slow and we had delivery to our table in increments. We found ourselves rushing them to bring the ticket and to go boxes. Pappasito's has the best beef fajitas! We got 2 to-go orders of the Wednesday 's fajitas. The food was nicely packed & ready to go when I got there. I was greeted immediately by staff. Quick & painless pick-up. However, when I got home, the 2 queso's that's a part of the 2 packs were not in the bag. I talk to the manager, Rachel, who was apologetic & said that she would send gift cards as an apology. I was skeptical about it (some other restaurants would not keep their works) but nearly 3 wks later, the promised gift cards came in the mail. Great service!! Anyway, their beef fajitas is medium-cooked beef that's so flavorful & tender. The queso is a perfect blend of well seasoned cheesy goodness with and creaminess. The chips are so thin & crunchy. Came here for lunch and we were seated immediately because we had a reservation. It was pretty crowded though so I would recommend making a reservation if possible. Both our hostess and server were incredibly kind and attentive, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I got a Caesar salad and the other 3 people in my party got beef fajitas for 3-4. The salad was amazing, but I thought $22 for a salad was a little much. The fajita crew said the food was great, but the portions could have been larger for a 3-4 portion serving. I stopped by for lunch on the way back from Fort Worth and was surprised at how easy it was to get a table. I got the special fajitas that came with more than enough food! Went here for lunch on a Monday, beat the crown by getting here about 11:20. Ambiance was amazing. My wife and I were immediately seated by a super sweet hostess. Our waiter Frankie was awesome. We started off with a flight of margaritas and they were all delicious!! They brought out the potato taquitos for our appetizer which were delicious but warning... they have "kick"! We ordered the Plato Del Mar (beef) and it was enough for the two of us after the chips and appetizer. Every bite was truly amazing. They make the quesadillas right there in house. I usually go to a place at least twice before submitting a review, but won't return here. This review is specific to this location. I've been to Pappasito's in Austin and Houston and they weren't like this. The two hosts at lunch did not seem to know what they were doing, had no idea how long the wait would be despite numerous open tables. There were 8 of us. I had called and put us on the call-ahead line. Several 4 tops were open. They said they were putting a table together for us and 10 minutes later we saw no one doing any such thing. However other parties of 3 and 4 showed up and were seated. I asked if they knew how much longer and she just said, no, she had no idea. It didn't help that they never smiled and spoke very softly. A front host is not where to put two shy people. They sat us at a dirty table. The waitress was very polite, but got several drink orders wrong. It took1.5 hours to receive our food! I kid you not. Not from the time we arrived, but from the time we placed our order! At no time did anyone come and explain what the hold up was. We asked and were told, "I'll check on it" and then waited more. Then dishes were brought out slowly so that some in our party could have been finished before the rest of us were served. Several of us noticed signs of our plates had been waiting a while under a heat lamp--dried crust across the refried beans, rehardened cheese, dried out rice. Never again will we go to this location and it will be a while if we go to any Pappasito's again. read more

Restaurant is loud, I don't see how the wait staff can even hear what we were ordering. Chips, salsa and queso were good and kept filled. My wife and I went to one the location many years ago, a different location than this one, and at the time we weren't really impressed. A lot of that impression was becuase it was advertised at Tex-Mex, but from experience and travel, this was more Baja Mex and not what we were expecting. Fast forward a few years to today when I decided to try it again, once again, not impressed. this is saddening, as I like the their seafood and bbq stores. Today I went during lunch, on a Thursday, and oddly enough on opening day of baseball, which is pertinent to mention as this location is close to the Globelife field where the Texas Rangers play, so today it was really busy for lunch at 1230 which was a few hours before game time. It was very loud with everyone talking. TV's over the bar were one and closed caption, no volume was coming from the tv's. I did sit at the bar since it was just me today. The bar itself had half the chairs open for seating. I was served chips and salsa within 5 minutes and given ample time to look over the menu. I was actually amazed at how expensive it was. Wow! $28-$36 a plate, with some going higher. Chicken plates were cheaper than beef plates by about $10, which I found as odd since chicken plates are usually more at other restaurants. They like their chicken, which was moist but not very flavorful. I'll get to the meal in a bit. The chips were light and thin tho coated in some sort of oil. At first I thought it was just moisture, tho it never soaked in or evaporated. It added a bit of a flavor to the chips, not a bad flavor, just something different than just plane ole ordinary corn tortilla chips. The salsa had a smokey flavor to it, not very spicy or peppery. It was also warmed up, which was also odd I thought, but it worked. The meal I had came from he lunch menu, it was $16.99. The tea I had to drink was $3.49. Sitting at the bar there was 2 to 3 gentlemen behind the counter the whole time. The person that was serving me was the busiest, which lended to him neglecting the bowl of chips, salsa, and my empty tea glass. Not a good start, the meal hadn't arrived yet. Jerome, one of the other bartenders even asked at one point what my drink was, I told him, and he went to serving other people. The salsa trough was in front of me that they used to fill bowls to give to others, at one point I put my empty salsa bowl in from of him, and he never did a thing with it. Ok, so he's a bartender that only helps his patrons, good to know. I ordered, and the food came out more than 30 minutes later. I took a long time to assemble the Chicken Tinga Enchilada and the one taco that was on my plate. I will say, the enchilada was good and the taco was larger than I'd expected, but the taco shell was stale and hard, and the chicken that is supposed to be shredded was slightly shredded an had a huge piece of tendon in it that I had to pull away from the edible part of the chicken. Not the best experience, and seeing as how this is the second bad experience at their brand of "Tex Mex" I won't be back and I definitely won't recommend this brand to anyone that asks. read more

Great Tex-Mex spot near Cowboys Stadium. I was in between the Plato Mariachi and the Reynosa but the bartender recommended the latter. Very, very happy with his decision. Starting with my favorite item on the plate, the green chile chicken tinga enchiladas were so good. The chicken was seasoned nicely and the chile sauce on top provided a nice kick. The tortillas were house made and amazing. Next came the tamale which was the second one I've had in my life. The pork was tender and the flavors boded well with each other. The masa was a little more dense than the other one I had which I'm not sure is normal. The final item was the crispy chicken tinga taco which was a nice switch from the soft tortillas. A good crunch, flavorful chicken, and some fresh vegetables on top. All three items were good and I loved being able to have some variety. We are staying at the hotel behind Pappasito's and decided to walk over after seeing the reviews! We were told about a 20 minute wait for 3 of us but it turned out to be 5 minutes! We had the Caesar salad with shrimp, the quail, and the pappasitos grill (beef, chicken, and shrimp)! We could've shared the pappasitos grill between two of us it was so large! The food as a whole was wonderful!! The beef was some of the best we've had! I would love for them to add more corn to the salad and have an option for a mild salsa but otherwise, wow!! It's honestly of some of the worst food I have ever eaten. The quality of the meat they use, whether it's chicken or steak taste like complete crap. You can tell that they buy some of the cheapest quality meat in order to make better profits. I ordered a steak burrito and the steak was extremely rubbery and chewy. Lamb chops oh my! I literally was telling wife a few days ago I wanted to try lamb chops! And the yelp Gawds delivered! They were so good and tender they had a little green sauce but I didn't even need it! The kids had max and cheese and chicken tenders which I'll assume was good because they ate ALL of it! My wife had the loaded nachos which she also enjoyed. We came here on Monday night for our office Christmas Party. Elijah, our waiter, had sine help from another waiter. The service was great considering we had 10 adults and 2 kids. Everyone's meal was delicious. They also had our drinks out promptly. I would definitely come here again. Just be cautious if you come in the weekend around football/baseball game or another major event. I have read some previous reviews on where the restaurant can get a little overwhelmed. Dined here on New Year's Eve. My husband and I wanted Mexican food and always prefer a local establishment over a chain, but apparently all other restaurants closed earlier for NYE. So we came to Pappasitos reluctantly to begin with. Pros: 1. Caitlyn, our server. A pro, indeed. Please let her manager know she 100% deserves the management position she is on her way to Houston to train for. This was the busiest of nights and even after being on her feet and hustling for 11 hours straight, she had the best attitude and biggest smile on her face. 2. The food and margaritas were tasty, although it took a really long time for them to come out. However, the restaurant was kind enough to comp our queso and dessert for the inconvenience (without us asking). Thank you. Cons: 1. The aforementioned long wait for our food and drinks. 2. The prices are so much more expensive than at other smaller, family-owned restaurants in the area. There is absolutely no reason for prices to be so high for food and drinks ($47 for fajitas?? $15 for a margarita??) that are not as good as we've had elsewhere in the neighborhood. 3. The bar area where we sat (again, this was the only Mexican restaurant open at 8 p.m. so there was a 90-minute wait for a table) was unbelievably, inexplicably, uncomfortably freezing. The rest of the restaurant was a bit more comfortable, so I don't get why the bar area needs the AC blowing on a chilly night on December 31. (Ironically, the outdoor patio was heated, but they were not sending servers out there.) Reasons 2 and 3 are why we don't see ourselves returning anytime soon. read more
