Good service, good food, nostalgic atmosphere with all the sweetness of a Coffee Shop. Enjoyed a very hefty breakfast with friends. Eggs, a biscuit, hash browns, and a delicious cup of coffee. My husband had pancakes and eggs and he enjoyed them. All good here! Clean dining room and bathrooms. Easy parking.

Denver omelette w/ hash browns & Texas omelette w/ home fries (add onions and peppers)

Compared to other diners in the area, this place is certainly on the pricier side. Yet, I was thoroughly impressed through and through. The service, the food and everything in between made this a great breakfast for me and my family. My gf had the denver omelette with hash and I had the Texas style omelette with home fries (reccomend that you add onions and peppers). The cook did a phenomal job. Omelette cooked to a great texture and the hash brown cooked to a perfect golden crusted brown. Great textures and great tastes. There house salsas paired perfectly with the meal while also catering to my love for spiciness. I had to say I was a bit skeptical when I saw the prices, but the staff absolutely delivered. You also can't help but feel like you're in a diner that's been there since the 70's, where nothing has changed since. Give it a shot. Don't let the prices scare you away, and decide if it's worth it for yourself.

Hobo Omelette w/Hash Browns

I've passed this place on more than one occasion, both to, and from, visiting the cemetery up the road where several of my family members reside. And, more than once, I've gotten more than a little curious as to what the place was like, and what they served. Well, the name in and of itself should give you at least SOME kind of idea. Howard's Coffee Shop. It's a place to go for a kuppa kawfee. And, a bite to eat, of course. A bit of research later, I decided to have a late breakfast after visiting my aforementioned family members at the cemetery. As I pulled into the parking lot, aside from one other vehicle, the place was deserted. I walked into the front doors, same thing. The place was empty, aside from the server, and the cook. I was greeted as I walked in, and was told I could sit anywhere, so I took a seat at the counter. The place has a winter lodge-type feel(not a bad thing, mind you), almost like a place you'd stop by when you're on the road, and need a break from all the mileage to get a bite to eat, and a kuppa kawfee. The server asked if I wanted anything to drink, and I ordered a large Orange Juice, and a glass of ice water. After perusing the menu, I settled on the Hobo Omelette, with hash browns, and biscuits & gravy on the side. My food was delicious! The omelette was quite tasty, with the fillings(sausage, tomato, mushrooms, onions, and mixed cheese blend) making it a delight to my taste buds, which should make most people happy, myself included. The hash browns, while not the texture I'm used to(they were thinly shredded), were delicious, as well. Now, the biscuits & gravy: I was a bit leery at first because, while I was reading something on my phone, I heard the sound of a microwave oven. "Uh-oh...", I started thinking. A microwave in a diner/coffee shop being used to heat up food is never a good sign. If they were to use it to quick boil water, that's another story. I looked up to see the server pull my biscuits out of the microwave. I said nothing, figuring I'd give them a chance. The biscuits & gravy were served on the side, on a separate plate, and, despite my reservations, were great! Much better than the last place I had b&g. The gravy had a nice flavor to it, and the biscuits had a good texture to them. As I said before, the place was deserted when I went there. Not sure why, I mean, it's in a good spot where residents, and passers-by can easily stop in, with a good sized parking lot. This place deserves more love than what I saw on this particular weekend, granted, I don't see how they do on weekdays, or on other weekend days, but, like other small businesses, this place needs more love from the public, so, I do recommend this place, yes.

I really like how comfy this place feels like you're in a quaint little shop. The service is attentive and welcoming. The food is good, especially the potatoes. Instead of cubes of potatoes, they make thin crispy slivers. It's pretty good. I would only really knock down 1 star because of the price. It's a little too steep for diner food.

The food is good and is a good portion to get you nice and full. Service if fast and waitress are really nice. It has a nice homey feel and I totally recommend this place. Great selection of food as well.

What was surprising was their banner said, Grand Opening Dec 29, 2025 and the store sign was Fresh Bagels and Cafe, so I was a bit confused. Well, it was bagels I was looking for so I gave them a try. Upon going in, the place felt brand new, the smell of fresh bagels, and a very eager and helpful staff. I got the spinach and Parmesan bagel, jalapeño Cheese and a plain cheese bagel and of course some cream cheese to go with my bagels. The place is very nice and spacious and next time I'm in the area, I might have to eat in. As for the name, apparently the Blue Mountain Bagels permanently closed and Fresh Bagels and Cafe opened here. Now they have a location in Buena Park, but I'm not sure if that's still open or not, however their Yelp page is still here. So hoping they create a new one for this GG location or update it.

Unfortunately, I really regret ordering the iced latte--it didn't taste good at all, and I felt like I wasted $7 on it. I honestly wish I had just gone to the nearby Starbucks for better quality at a similar or even better price. I might come back for the bagels, but I would definitely avoid ordering coffee here again.

The Tonkatsu was the sole dish we shared, and we both agreed it was delicious! I've had this dish at other places and more often than not, it is usually greasy since it's fried. This was not the case. I don't even think they use panko breadcrumbs. I'm guessing they use corn flakes, but it WORKS and gives the perfect crisp to the protein! The salad and rice were also a good portion to share if you're not starving. The restaurant is very casual and has a laid back vibe. The inside was full of students studying, and young families so we opted to sit outside in the fresh air. Prices are very reasonable. The establishment is accessible and the service is great! A small ramekin of syrup was provided, not nearly enough for dipping, but there was a full dispenser of syrup on the table so no problem. Usually a berry jam is provided on the side but they provided some sort of mysterious fruit jam that was bitter and a single small taste of it was all it took to deny it from further use. Yuck. The bowl of fruit was a great choice for a side. It was all bursting with flavor - strawberries, banana slices, and blueberries! I was glad I chose this over potatoes or fries. The iced vanilla latte was, at best, simply "okay". The flavor was weak. Overall, it was a fine breakfast meal.
