I grew up in San Diego, but moved to Los Angeles in 2020. I grew up going to the original Broken Yolk location in Pacific Beach, which opened in 1979 and was sad to see that when I left San Diego there are not many Broken Yolk locations close to me in West LA. This is actually the closest one. This BY is a giant one and located right across the street from Knotts Berry Farm. Parking is also extremely easy. There is a giant free parking lot attached on site. Service was very friendly and as usual everything that we ordered came out very fast. As mentioned this place is gigantic so it can host many different sized groups. For this visit, I did one of my favorites, which is the Build Your Own Omelette, but I also enjoy doing the Eggs Benedict and many other different dishes. I think this is one of the best breakfast and brunch options in Southern California and I look for it every time that I travel. I love seeing a San Diego restaurant outside of my hometown. My daughter and I came here for brunch on Father's Day and as expected it was very crowded. Luckily, Yelp has the waitlist so we signed on. The wait time was about 75-90 mins so we chilled elsewhere til our time. Having a waitlist is so convenient. I ordered the breakfast Sunset Trio ($18.95) which consists of: Tiki Toast, French toast and Cinna-cake. I made it a combo for $4.95 which is scrambled eggs n bacon. The Tiki Toast is made with Hawaiian bread and is pretty good. The fruit on top made for great pairing. The French toast was excellent as it had a crunch on the edges. The texture made it so delish. I would just get this next time. The cinna-cake was very small and a bit too sweet. It did taste just like a cinnamon roll. Everything tasted very good. The place was very busy so it took a while to get our food but the waiter did give us the heads up so it was all good. The place is very spacious with lots of tables and some booths. They also have a wide drink offering from coffee selections, smoothies, to of course mimosa flights! I did ask for the sriracha on the side so I can control how much I get in each bite & it was delicious! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The cream cheese icing is amazing with the cinnamon and sugar. The whip cream starts sliding off since the toast comes out hot, but it definitely pairs well with the icing, syrup, and french toast. The ranchero skillet comes with sauteed potatoes and egg on top. It was a good size for singular brunch or sharing! The french toast qualifies to be the best I've ever had. Went with my niece and her boyfriend to the broken yolk in Buena Park today and it didn't disappoint for a second time. Sat in the outside patio where we were seated very quickly. Met a friend from out of town brunch. This is my first time here. Very busy location since its across Knotts Berry Farm. I highly recommend to getting on the waitlist online especially on weekends. Service was a bit all over the place, it didn't bother us that much though. We understand its the holiday weekend. Food though was on point. The lattes and coffee are very strong. We've been here a few times. The parking lot is tiny so we go early (before 10am), otherwise we have to leave because there's no parking. Anyway, the place is spacious and food arrives quickly and servers are great. We last went close to Thanksgiving and they were all dressed in costume. I think it's fun! Ordered the steak cooked medium, but it was well done & I was on a time crunch--the eggs were good, the red & green salsa were great, however the potatoes were very bland. The food was okay, but definitely not what I expected for the price we paid. The Nutella crepes had almost no flavor -- there was only a small drizzle of Nutella on top and very little inside. The matcha latte was okay, but I've had much better elsewhere. The chilaquiles barely had any sauce, and the asada looked more like ground beef.
