Compared to other diners in the area, this place is certainly on the pricier side. Yet, I was thoroughly impressed through and through. The service, the food and everything in between made this a great breakfast for me and my family. My gf had the denver omelette with hash and I had the Texas style omelette with home fries (reccomend that you add onions and peppers). The cook did a phenomal job. Omelette cooked to a great texture and the hash brown cooked to a perfect golden crusted brown. Great textures and great tastes. There house salsas paired perfectly with the meal while also catering to my love for spiciness. I had to say I was a bit skeptical when I saw the prices, but the staff absolutely delivered. You also can't help but feel like you're in a diner that's been there since the 70's, where nothing has changed since. Give it a shot. I've passed this place on more than one occasion, both to, and from, visiting the cemetery up the road where several of my family members reside. And, more than once, I've gotten more than a little curious as to what the place was like, and what they served. Well, the name in and of itself should give you at least SOME kind of idea. Howard's Coffee Shop. It's a place to go for a kuppa kawfee. And, a bite to eat, of course. A bit of research later, I decided to have a late breakfast after visiting my aforementioned family members at the cemetery. As I pulled into the parking lot, aside from one other vehicle, the place was deserted. I walked into the front doors, same thing. The place was empty, aside from the server, and the cook. I was greeted as I walked in, and was told I could sit anywhere, so I took a seat at the counter. The place has a winter lodge-type feel(not a bad thing, mind you), almost like a place you'd stop by when you're on the road, and need a break from all the mileage to get a bite to eat, and a kuppa kawfee. The server asked if I wanted anything to drink, and I ordered a large Orange Juice, and a glass of ice water. After perusing the menu, I settled on the Hobo Omelette, with hash browns, and biscuits & gravy on the side. My food was delicious! The omelette was quite tasty, with the fillings(sausage, tomato, mushrooms, onions, and mixed cheese blend) making it a delight to my taste buds, which should make most people happy, myself included. The hash browns, while not the texture I'm used to(they were thinly shredded), were delicious, as well. Now, the biscuits & gravy: I was a bit leery at first because, while I was reading something on my phone, I heard the sound of a microwave oven. "Uh-oh...", I started thinking. A microwave in a diner/coffee shop being used to heat up food is never a good sign. If they were to use it to quick boil water, that's another story. I looked up to see the server pull my biscuits out of the microwave. I said nothing, figuring I'd give them a chance. The biscuits & gravy were served on the side, on a separate plate, and, despite my reservations, were great! Much better than the last place I had b&g. The gravy had a nice flavor to it, and the biscuits had a good texture to them. As I said before, the place was deserted when I went there. Not sure why, I mean, it's in a good spot where residents, and passers-by can easily stop in, with a good sized parking lot. This place deserves more love than what I saw on this particular weekend, granted, I don't see how they do on weekdays, or on other weekend days, but, like other small businesses, this place needs more love from the public, so, I do recommend this place, yes. read more

HORRIBLY OVERPRICED! I met a friend for brunch at Howard's coffee shop. It was my first time there. I was surprised at church post church time on Sunday morning how empty it was. When I got the bill, it was made clear. These people are charging $22 for an omelette. A plain cheese omelette. Five dollars for a cuppa coffee. The food was OK, and there was only one server for the entire restaurant. She ran from one end of the place to the other, and luckily for her, it was almost empty. Believe it or not, the bill for three omelettes and 3 cups of coffee, with tip, was $100!! I will never set foot in the place again and I have sent this review out on every website. I understand that small businesses have had to increase their prices. But this is just plain gouging. The owner should be ashamed of himself. read more

Looking for a coffee shop on a Sunday with little to no wait time, good food and un-rushed customer service. Is that too much to ask for? NO it was not too much. It was exactly what we found at Howard's. Although the waiting time was, I believe, sheer luck. I cannot imagine they never have a wait time. Food was delicious and fresh! We had a good meal. We originally wanted to go to Country Cafe. The line was out of the door at that place. So, we ended up here. Service: We were greeted as soon as we walked in. A nice lady led us to a booth. Our waitress was very attentive and got us everything we needed (Utensils, Napkins, etc.) either with the food or before our food arrived. There was a small situation while we were at the restaurant. EMT's and Fire fighters were responding to an elderly gentleman. Staff was very helpful during this event. Atmosphere: This restaurant has comfortable seating. It is very spacious with several individual sections inside the restaurant with abundant seating. The interior has a laid back Midwestern breakfast restaurant feel to it. Nice. There is lot of Parking in this complex. The day we went, the other businesses were not open, so the lot was practically empty. Food: I ordered their Texas Omelette for $14.50. It came with 2 sides. Potatoes and Good sized Pancakes. The chili on top of the Omelette was very tasty. The side of Potato paired well with the Omelette. All the different vegetables, and the proteins made a delightful breakfast for me. The pancakes were good to taste with minimal syrup. Portion for the price was very adequate. Mrs. ordered Corned Beef Hash special. $11.25. It came with 2 sides as well. I'm giving one star due to price gouging. This place used to be really good. Prices were reasonable just a loan for it. Omelette with hashbrowns was $22. Coffee was 3.99 my daughter and I went there to go have some breakfast in Tower like what if it's too expensive for breakfast should never be that expensive Cyprus Cyprus is trying to gouge people because they're not making enough money at this location. We were the only ones in there that's not how you do business. The waitress was very nice I have to say, I wasn't about to pay $22 for an omelette when I can go to the Potholder in Long Beach and get the exact same mill for $14.99. I really don't want to review this place and I'll tell you why. This place is a hidden gem and I don't want it spoiled. For those of you who are too young to remember there was a time when diners and coffee shops were in every little town. They were similar, but not the same. The people that ate there were there so often, the staff knew their names and the customers knew the staff. They were GENUINELY friendly. Not just friendly because it was their job. I have just moved to Cerritos California and on the day after I moved my mom took me here for the second time. Both times the staff greeted her with a smile because she goes there at least once a week. They know her there. While we were eating an elderly couple was in one booth talking, then start talking to an elderly gentleman several booths away, he's chatting back. The waitress chimes in from behind the counter...I loved it! You just don't see that anymore. Our waitress had to be at least 70 years old but served us with such a smile. I'm definitely going to be a regular here. Now if you're a young adult, looking for free wifi and a half-caf, soy milk latte this is not the place for you. But if you grew up watching Alice, Three's Company, Leave It To Beaver, Happy Days, Barney Miller or M.A.S.H. then you might like this place. Great food by the way. Lol read more

This place is nostalgic. The people here are great. Always very attentive. The food is cooked to perfection. A medium rare steak is delicate, in my case. No one can usually cook a medium rare steak perfectly like here. Other places give a steak that is purple in the middle which tells me they don't know how to cook it. And the quality is of the meat is very good. So when it comes to the pricing - I don't find it to be expensive. They deserve it. My parents and I had the Tri-tip special and we all like our steaks cooked differently and the Chef delivered exactly what we wanted. We could not stop having coffee there. It was delicious. Hubby ordered the French toast which he found very delicious and delightful. I ordered the bacon and eggs with fruit and biscuits/gravy. Biscuits were cake-like and flaky. Gravy was flavorful. Hickory smoked bacon and medium eggs complemented the meal. After we ordered, the place got busier. The service was efficient. Don't know why this place isn't crowded on the weekends because the food is great, the decor is classic, and the waitress was really sweet. I had the Italian sausage omelette with a side of biscuits and gravy. Their gravy is delicious, and that omelette was soooo good. You rarely see Italian sausage in an omelette but it's great. Also, if i were having lunch I definitely would have had the Monte Cristo, it's another rare but delicious menu item. The decor is definitely old style not appealing to me personally. We came about 2 pm on Sunday and it was empty. I saw 1 person in the diner when we arrived. The lady at the front said sit where you want. We chose a booth by the parking lot window. I ordered the banana stuffed french toast & my son ordered the kids pancake combo with a large chocolate milk. The prices are outrageous. My son enjoyed his pancakes but I didn't care for my meal. To me the peanut butter over powered everything else & I love PB...maybe it was the brand they use IDK. I scrapped off all the PB and cream cheese to salvage what I could of the meal but left behind half. I am not sure how this place stays in business with the prices so high and quality lacking.
