We tried the Salted Caramel, Strawberry Wafer, and the Drum Roll with dairy-free vanilla from the Not So Secret Menu. The ice cream itself was delicious and definitely lived up to expectations. While the dairy-free vanilla wasn't quite as good as I remembered, it was still a nice option to have. As a diabetic, I've visited this location five times over the past year specifically for their advertised sugar free flavors, but each visit they have only had vanilla and chocolate available. If the additional sugar free options are no longer offered, it would be helpful for the menu to be updated to reflect this. I can give them a 5 star rating on the Earl Grey flavor alone! My fiancé and I happened across this shop while we were searching downtown Visalia for a bagel shop and I'm so glad we decided to go in. The staff was very friendly and the girl who recommended the Earl Grey ice cream to me said she was the one that came up with the idea for the flavor. The base was delicious without the sweetness being too overpowering and the blood orange sugar sprinkles brought out the natural citrus notes in the Earl Grey flavor. I can't say much about the Strawberry Fields as I only got a taste before my fiancé absolutely inhaled it lol but it was very tasty as well! What, watching a young adult joylessly toil away behind the counter chopping and smashing and rolling? I'm not sure what kind of entertainment that is. But if you're into that sort of thing, well, you're in luck. Because you'll see a lot of chopping and smashing as you stand in line all afternoon waiting for that poor overworked server to get through three ice cream orders. The resulting cup of ice cream looks awfully "cute", but I think my 8 year old said it best as he sadly looked at his finished cup of ice cream and sighed, "That sure didn't last long." Since this place opened up two years ago, we've tried going multiple times but everytime there's too many people inside and waiting outside that we end up going somewhere else. It was finally meant to be that we try this place because as we were coming home from another dessert place that was closed we saw that this place wasn't as busy as usual. We went in and ordered the Fruity Rebels and Strawberry Fields. Once you order and pay, you stand back until they tell you they're making your order. Then you can stand up by the glass and watch them make it. They also ask if you want the toppings mixed in or on the top. Saying as I've been to other rolled ice cream places and have experiences to compare this to, I feel like they would do so much better if they had a better final presentation on their rolled ice cream. They also add too much syrup on the top which takes away from the ice cream and makes everything too sweet. The actual ice cream was enjoyable. Like literally, didn't change what he said once. I clearly didn't understand what he was explaining and it might do both of us good to rephrase? Like I was asking something specific about the toppings, and he would recite the whole thing from top to bottom all over again. It was very frustrating. When you're already having ice cream that's so different and then can't get a straight explanation... Not the greatest. As for the ice cream. They roll it in thin sheets with the toppings you want incorporated inside or placed on top. It just didn't hit the spot for me. It felt like very little ice cream (I got the small because it was so expensive), although it was kinda creative. I would just never prefer this (thin sheet) over having a mouthful of ice cream.
