Bread Savage does the unthinkable when it comes to a pastry shop in our small town of Visalia. It took everything we "thought" we knew when it comes to pastries and completely blew our minds! We tried several of the items being put fresh into the case, "all baked the morning of", while also grabbing a loaf of plain sourdough bread for tonight's dinner. We got the Pain au chocolat, blueberry danish, a mango danish, city muffin "which the owner graciously gave us to try" thank you for that! The Lemon Meringue, some pastry that has Tokyo Miso in the name, "which was incredible!" When I say these were the most buttery, flaky, crackling croissants and pastries you'll ever have! I mean it! This is true to the art form that is baking! The Pain au chocolat aka chocolate croissant was the BEST we've EVER had! This place gets busy! We showed up 5 before 7am when they open and they already started forming a small line. By the time we got inside, the line was forming towards the door. It's absolutely beautiful on the inside with some seating, more grab and go, which is nice, cause it's nice to take these delicious pastries and enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Skip any place you've ever gone for a croissant or pastry cause this is the only spot you're gonna wanna come to after you experience the love thats been put into every delicious treat you get from here. I never truly knew you could taste "care and love" in food until trying this place. The service is phenomenal, the owner and the staff are the sunshine and brightness to start your day! Beyond wonderful! Absolutely a must try, this incredible shop tucked away next to Starbucks on Main far exceeds anything you'll find in Tulare County when it comes to pastries and breads. Bread Savage is by far one of the most incredible bakeries I've ever been to, in the world. And I say that with my whole chest. I was looking for a bakery that had great reviews and had sourdough options "because it's guuuuuut healthy" iykyk. What I love is that the two times I went (in town to visit Sequoia National Park during indigenous peoples' day) the menu varied, but to my dismay, we missed out on the death by chocolate cruffin :'(. My friend and I travel into Visalia for work fairly often, and whenever we're in town this has always been one of our favorite stops. Over the last year we've come here multiple times because we genuinely love the coffee and bagels. It's been a bit since our last visit since we live out of the city, so we were excited to finally make it back. Unfortunately, this visit was a little different from our previous experiences. The woman helping us at the counter (she was wearing glasses) came across as very rude and short with us. When we ordered, it wasn't very clear that the bagel we wanted required an additional charge or that it didn't automatically come the way we thought. When I asked about getting it on a bagel, she mentioned the upcharge but did it in a pretty snarky way instead of just explaining it. There were no smiles and the whole interaction just felt uncomfortable. I completely understand that everyone can have a bad day, and working in food service isn't easy, but the attitude really changed the atmosphere for us. On top of that, our coffee tasted unusually bitter this time. We're big drip coffee fans and have always enjoyed it here before, so this stood out to us. It was disappointing because this spot has always felt like a Visalia staple for us whenever we're in town. Sadly, after this experience we probably won't be revisiting for a while. I'm hoping this was just an off day because we've had better experiences here before. Also let me add - another couple was enjoying their coffee when one of the accidentally spilt their coffee. The gentleman let the girl with the glasses know about the spill and all she said was "it's fine". She didn't offer to help, she didn't offer napkins, NOTHING. Just stared and said "it's fine". I had heard wonderful things about this place so finally decided to try it out. Food was delicious. Customer service on the other hand was less than stellar. I went to read the one star reviews to see what wasn't up to par for those reviewers, and their experience seemed to match mine. We were cut in line by customers with no staff intervention. Staff somehow missed my husband and I being the first ones in the store when they opened but served about 3 others before us. Maybe they thought we were still perusing the goods, but there was a point where we were clearly waiting to be helped by standing in front of the register and they still went to other customers. At one point I started chuckling and looked around like we were being punk'd. After placing our order, a gal came out with our box of pastries and haphazardly put the box on our table knocking over our coffee cup that I was able to catch in time. We said thank you graciously and all she said was, "Yep." Maybe we caught a bad day since most reviews love this place. This is a cute artisan bakery. I saw someone reviewing it on instagram and I had to try. The service was great. Everyone was very welcoming. I was convinced on trying the blue berry croissant but when I got there I changed my mind and went with an almond croissant. I don't regret it. It was light,flaky and the custard very creamy. Their pastries and sourdough are killer but the sandwiches were a bit tough. Noticeably upon arriving at noon, they were already sold out of 1/3 of their display items and they ran out of prosciutto. The larger baked goods such as their loafs were placed in the back and the pricing wasn't very apparent on some items. There was limited interaction with the staff but it was friendly enough. *Sourdough Loaf: pleasant yeasty crust with fluffy interior. I ate most of the loaf with salted butter and it was the perfect combination. My favorite item in general from this bakery. *Egg Salad Sandwich: hard pass. The baguette was incredibly tough and rough on the mouth. The egg salad spread was applied so thinly, it was comical compared to the looming bread. The red onion was the prominent flavor and there needed to be at least 3 times the amount of egg for it to be balanced. *Lemon Poppy Muffin: moist, sweet and fragrant. The icing wasn't too sweet and went well with the citrusy pastry. Although it looked plain, it had to be the brightest tasting muffin I've ever had. *Tokyo Toast: strangely wasn't labeled but it was described as a Japanese milk bread toasted with miso honey butter. There was a crisp caramelized exterior with a chewy sweet center. I was expecting more salty notes from the miso but it leaned heavier towards the honey. Tasty but I wouldn't consume more than one log. In the future, I'll stick to their display items and sourdough. The pricing is a bit higher than other bakeries but quality can be tasted. read more

Bread Savage is an absolute must try in Visalia. They are on the pricier side, but you are paying for some quality pastries! I've been a handful of times, and would recommend going early (especially on weekends) so they don't sell out of anything. Their jalapeño bacon biscuit is one of the tastiest savory pastries I have ever had, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! The only thing I would suggest avoiding is their coffee drinks. I've tried a few different ones and they just haven't been worth the price to me. Staff is always amazingly kind and attentive.
