While in Hanford stopped by and picked up some yummy sweets. I got a cream horn and strawberry pizza. I loved the cream horn. The custard inside was so good. Not appealing or appropriate. 5 people walked in and out with any purchase, sure loosing lots of sales. I'm not one to order cheeseburgers out anymore. They just don't measure up to homemade. But since Sweet Pallete advertised them with homemade buns, I tried it and it was so good! The burger was cooked through, but still juicy and plenty thick. The cheese oozed out over the top of the burger. You could definitely tell that it was real cheese and not fake cheese slices too. It comes with classic toppings including grilled onions. Although you can ask for it without. The homemade sesame seed buns were a wonderful change to the store bought we're all used to. My only complaint is small and very fixable by the customer.. I thought the burger (and the fries) needed a bit more salt but I know I'd rather have a little less than a little more since it can always be added if needs be. Bottom line: Excellent burger ! Ordered two boxes of the assorted fruit pizzas for a 4th of July event. In preparation they made hundreds of these boxes the night before, so they were fresh. A good fruit pizza takes on the best flavors when it sits overnight in a fridge so the cookie gets soft. Because these were so freshly made, the cookies were very crunchy and did not taste great. I spent $40 on two boxes of very small cookies that none of my guests enjoyed. I spoke with the owner and he gave me a partial refund and let me keep both boxes of cookies which I thought was nice. We had a pleasant chat, and he explained that they would taste better the next day because they were just made. He was right. After sitting overnight the cookies tasted much much better the next day; although, I do think $20 is a bit expensive for such a small batch of cookies that can be easily gobbled up in 10 min I would definitely return to try their tarts and eclairs which I've been told by many locals are excellent. read more

The sweet palette is very good. I have gotten their strawberry pizza and bierocks. The strawberry pizza is my favorite. The bierock was good but very peppery which seems to be normal for that dish but is a bit much for me personally. The service has always been good for me. It's usually quiet when I go. I've tried to see what they have before making the far drive and no reply on anything. I gotta wait to see a post. Kinda inconvenient. When I did go they didn't have much at 11am. They also seemed bothered cause I kept pointing at things and they'd say "what"....well idfk there's no label or anything saying what it is? Though I know that Yelp! isn't overly popular in Hanford, I feel the need that this bakery deserves a review anyhow. We have come in TWICE in attempts to have a cake made for our son for two separate occasions. The first time, we called and were told that they were too busy and that they would call us back, after giving the number and waiting two days, no call was made. We had to find somewhere else in a handful of days as we were hopeful the bakery would actually follow through with their word of calling us. Fast forward 3 months, its now our son's birthday, we wanted to give this place another shot. My wife then went into the bakery as she was already out of the house. Same story, the person working (I gather the owner) said they were too busy and that they would call her back, took down her phone number. Well, there was no call back today. So, we have settled on a competing bakery who welcomed us with open arms and committed to making the cake as we requested. Don't waste your time with this place, horrible customer service. read more

I was so excited to visit a local bakery and support local. So today I went and got a mini cake from Sweet Palette. I knew it would be a bit more pricey but for a good cake I'm okay with that. Well, I was sadly disappointed. The cake looked amazing. However, it was whipped topping not frosting and that has zero flavor. The cake was dry and had zero flavor. Even the very thick "pudding" that was between the layers was flavorless. The cake was not sweet at all. It was literally flavorless. I gave it one bite and was done. There was less cake in a slice than that in a cupcake. We were able to get four slices. $25 for four slices of cake!!! That is crazy. Also, I know that it was 1.5 hours before closing so I may have put it off to the cake sitting all day but I know that was not the case as I had to wait 20-minutes for them to finish making the cake so it was fresh. read more

I went to the new location for the first time yesterday. They are basically building the place from the floor up so it is not great to look at yet. They have limited refrigerator space as of yet so there are no cream based desserts except for special orders. I purchased 2 apple turnovers and 2 brownies. They were absolutely fantastic and just what I expected as I was a regular customer at the former store location. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is that at the register, there is a prompt to leave a tip on the screen as customers check out. As if this was not enough, perhaps thinking I hadn't seen the prompt, the cashier pointed out the tip option. I felt pressured as there is no way to complete the transaction confidentially. I do not leave tips for cashiers at the grocery store or in any other retail setting. Frankly I think it is in extremely poor taste to basically extort additional money out of the customers in this setting!! I have always felt that the offerings at this establishment are somewhat over priced but they are absolutely fantastic and I am willing to pay a little extra for quality. My husband and I have been on a hunt for good cupcakes ever since we were stationed here from San Diego. There is a cupcake shop we love in Visalia but who wants to drive there all the time. The appearance of the cupcakes and the size of them get 5 stars. The taste not so much. There is nothing unique about the cupcakes. Right when I walked through the door I knew right away there was whipped cream used as icing instead of a buttercream icing made from scratch. That in itself was a disappointment but I still wanted to try the actual cake. The cake was pretty bland and tasted like a box of Duncan Hines or Pillsbury cake mix. Definitely nothing special. I feel like the cream cheese filling that was used inside my red velvet cupcake should have been used as the icing instead of whipped cream. I would have enjoyed my cupcake a little more if that were the case. My husband had the smores cupcake and he felt the same way I did about them. I wasn't blown away by what I had but it was good: a lemony custard filling in a light fluffy dough shell and topped with blueberries and strawberries. I do appreciate the size of the cupcakes for the price. The cupcake was for my niece so it was vanilla which I'm generally not a fan of anyways. I did like it enough that I will go back. I was eyeing the chocolate mousse that is in an edible white chocolate cup and maybe try a chocolate or red velvet cupcake. It seems by looking at the Facebook page that when I visited, the bakery was not stocked with A LOT of what the bakery makes. I would LOVE to try the various cheesecakes he listed on FB: pistachio, snickerdoodles, and chocolate lovers. Also, macaroons! Hopefully, next time I go there will be more of a selection.
