Great food. Even though this roadside sandwich shop in Strayhmore was packed for lunch on a Saturday, ordering went fairly quickly and they were completed quickly for pick up too. I got the lunch special for $15 which was a full sandwich with all fixings, chips, a drink and ice cream! I chose the orange ice cream which was totally scrumptious. I haven't had orange ice cream like that since I was quite a bit younger. My sandwich was very moist and on a good substantial white bread roll which was very fresh. Strong enough to hold the sandwich filling and not fall apart. Delicious with Mayo, mustard onion lettuce and tomatoes on my tri tip. Plenty of seating indoors and also outside at umbrella tables if you want shade. Truly a winner. They have salads too.

Local and fresh! Sandwiches made to order and delicious orange ice cream that I can never get enough of! I usually get the Tri tip sandwich combo that comes with a choice of a drink, chips and their signature ice cream (orange) or the ice cream of the day (the iced cream flavor changes daily and a calendar of the flavors can be found on their Instagram). I especially LOVE the orange ice cream because it is made from the oranges produced in this area and you can see the pulp in the ice cream itself. A great place to grab a quick lunch(: We usually sit outside and the tables are very well kept but there's nice air conditioning and indoor seating as well. The service is great and they call your name via a speaker so that you can hear it if you're waiting for your food outside. When they do have their special flavored ice creams, I do recommend going early as they do run out towards the end of the day.

We enjoy stopping and getting their fresh orange shake. They serve a great lunch and have local items to take home with you. The service is quick and efficient. They know how to move the line and keep the quality of food too. It's a great little place to stop in the summer time. You can eat inside or enjoy your food outside under an umbrella.

So lucky to have found this gem on the way from Los Angeles to Sequoia NP. I love that they have a different featured flavor every day of the week. (Seems like the only way to see their featured flavors is through Instagram, since their website isn't updated) Everything was yummy and one junior size may be enough to share since it's very sweet. read more

Seriously the best ice cream on the planet! The Orange icecream uses real orange juice & you can see the pulp in it. They have other flavors, daily specials but I always get Orange. I love all their food, the flavors are amazing. Such a great deal to get a lunch 1/2 sandwich, chips, drink & icecream for $14-16. Can't beat it! Plus its made fresh. The whole building & ambiance speaks country farm life. I live an hour away but when I'm in the area, its a requirement to stop in. read more

I have a split 1/5 star review. I'm not sure what happened with my lunch order. I was baffled when I got my sandwich and had a lone slice of meat? it was one of the saddest sandwiches I've ever seen. My coworker ordered extra meat on his and therefore I assumed this was a normal amount of meat. I asked him later and he said no it shouldn't have been this little meat, he just wanted more. ha... ouch. this sandwich meal for $17 really hurt. the ice cream was great, fresh, and didn't make me gassy somehow, so that gets 5 stars, but I could never eat the hot food offerings here again. read more

Orange Works is a fixture. When we first moved to the valley, it's one of the places we were told we'd have to visit, and now we bring visitors. They have a great sandwich meal with chips, drink, and ice cream at a reasonable price. But the main reason to go is the orange ice cream--not sherbet, ice cream. The closest flavor analogy is a Dreamsicle, with vanilla ice cream and orange Popsicle. It's soft serve, with the tiny fresh orange vesicles so it's clearly made from fresh oranges. Yum! The restaurant is an old house that sits right next to an orange grove The only downside is that the indoor eating area is small, so if they're at all busy you'll have to eat outside, which in the valley can be quite cool or quite hot. Go on off hours if the weather is is harsh. On a hot day, what would be more refreshing than orange ice cream?! read more

Sandwich was tasty. However, who's to say I like plain potato chips which was only one option. Smoothie was extremely sweet. I do have to say the ice cream was very good. The bathroom is in an odd place and difficult to access. Nonetheless, place was very cute and staff was kind and attentive. read more

One of the best things Orange Works offers is their daily ice cream flavors, and I enjoy trying their new flavors. I have ordered ahead of time twice online and when I went to pick up my order, they tell me the daily flavor has been sold out. This is truly unfair because I paid in advance to have their daily flavor, and took time out of my day to drive to Orange Works. Please fix this. read more

I am so sad, I have been coming to the Orange Works for decades and always order the veggie sandwich. One of my favorite sandwiches ever. Today I was shocked the sandwich had so few veggies I didn't think there was anything in it, Literally a slice of carrot, and eggplant with a small piece of lettuce, my friends turkey sandwich had A slice of turkey.... I love the roasted garlic and they left that out, when I asked for garlic on the side they argued and wanted to charge me another dollar. I already spent $17 on lunch. They also refused to give us our ice cream after lunch and it was melting by the end of our lunch. Always loved the orange ice cream. I hope the new owners change back to the old way of doing things! read more

On my way back from Porterville I was in the mood for a good sandwich and The Orange Works has always been a consistent classic...a local favorite. Trying to cut back on my red meat consumption a bit I went with the roasted turkey sandwich today and it didn't disappoint. Good sandwiches, you can dine in or call in an order. It's known for the orange sherbet, and other flavors of soft serve. Just ate the tri tip with a lettuce wrap and I greedily devoured it. Heading home and saw this place after a baseball game. The orange ice cream caught our eye along with the cute umbrellas. You order at the register and wait for your name to be called. Sandwiches were super fresh. They could have had a little more tomato and lettuce but overall just simple and delicious. We had the Turkey, pastrami and Tri-tip. They recommended the Tri-tip but the Pastrami was much better and had lots of flavor. The bread made the sandwich!! The Fruity Pebbles Cheesecake soft serve was delicious. The orange was good but not my favorite. A little sweet for me but my husband loved! Such a nice and relaxing lunch! We will be back. I will always recommend this little sandwich & salad shop. The food is delicious. Especially anything with the Tri-Tip. My go to is the Tri-Tip salad, literally the bomb! My co workers & I love having lunch here. Let's not get started on the ice cream. My mom found this place when driving to my tennis games in Porterville. Ever since discovering this place, we would drive from Bakersfield to get this which is about a hour drive out of town. They serve the best tri tip sandwich I've ever had with chips. To make your meal even better you finish your meal off with a soft serve orange ice cream which is not only refreshing and citrusy but a good pallet cleanser. So I had to go to save Mart and buy another cake so my son would have enough for his birthday party. I spoke to the manager when I picked up my son's cake today. She informed me that she would give the person a ride up last night for not calling me and explaining everything to me last night. I don't think I will be ordering from them again. When I explained to the manager everything. She didn't even offer to comp me. The circle ground cake is bigger than their half sheet. Which any else isn't like that. I will never order another cake from them again. I will go to a different ice cream place and pay more money and get a better cake. Because again I half sheet According to Baskin-Robbins is really really small. Which don't make sense. I compared Savemart to theirs and the restaurant I used to work at for 10 years. Baskin-Robbins has a small half sheet. The manager even told me their half sheet is smaller than anywhere else. If that's the case, you need to wet your customers know that before they buy a cake. And because they had to remake the cake. When it was time to cut the cake, it literally fell apart. The lady at the store, which was the manager insured me that everything would be fine. That it has completely set and I should not have any issues. My son's cake fell apart every time I cut with the cake knife. I had to put it back in the freezer for another four hours before we could actually eat it without it falling apart. If I would've known any of that, I would've just canceled my order until the lady to give me my money back because the cake was the worst cake I've ever ordered in history.

Ok finally had a turkey sandwich here and lets say that overall taste and quality is very good. Despite the fact that they messed up on my order . This place gets very busy during lunch hours so I preferred to order by phone then pick up my order. Ice cream is so yummy I mean homemade can't ever go wrong with homemade. I had to do a 3 star rating because they are always out of the flavor of the day by 12.... it's really unfortunate when I go specifically for the ice cream and they tell me they are sold out. They open at 11, you would think they'd have enough to get them through at least the majority of the day. read more

Lunch special is the best. You get a sandwich, chips, drink, and ice cream. Usually long lines, but worth the wait. The ONLY down side is the condensed hours. read more
