With the assistance of the yelp app, we called bars and restaurants sitting in the Denny's off of Woodridge drinking regular coffee. Finally, a lovely young lady picked up the phone, "Cooter Brown's." We had to take detours because the highways were closed too. I already mentioned Texas was closed. Mind you yelp said it had two reviews. I told him, "You know they are probably the owner's friends." The parking lot was empty in the front. How did the bartender get here? When we walked in to my surprise there were a handful of folks all playing darts. They have a back entrance and that's the door the regulars use. Beer only dive bar, doesn't usually suit my fancy, but this one did. They had plenty of Smirnoff in several flavors. We played few rounds of pool and enjoyed plenty of cool music from the jukebox. Everyone there was friendly, even the dude who caused a ruckus and was banned from ever going back during her shift. (Talkative on his way in, but didn't say anything to us on his way out.) When I questioned it, I was told to talk it up with the manager...only for no one to claim that role and the situation be treated as entertainment rather than service. At that point, it stops being "dive bar personality" and starts reading as a lack of basic standards. I paid, I tipped, and now following through. If youre in the market for unfinished pours, full foam, and a philosophical approach to management, this is your place. If you actually want a proper Guinness, I'd suggest continuing your search.
