One of the regulars there did tell us that on Fridays they clean it, but if that's the case there was A LOT of poop just laying around then. Owners need to do better at cleaning up after their dogs. We frequent the small dog side of the dog park- especially on weekend mornings- and have found that most people are very attentive to their dogs as well as the dogs being well mannered. The owners also all seem to get along, its nice to be able to see friendly faces you recognize and are also happy to see you and your pup. The grass is always manicured and the trash is taken out. We have encountered once that the poop bags ran out, but that was a one off instance. Overall, this is the best park in the area and we drive over from Valley Ranch. We have tried all the others in the area and find this is worth the extra couple minutes drive. read more

Great dog park if you protect your dog. Beware of a large black schnauzer who attacked our puppy unprovoked. The owner did nothing and watched as this dog shredded my shirt as I carried my pup out of the dog park and trying to protect her... this dog jumped on me the whole way to the gate trying to bite my pup. Thank god my 7 year old son wasn't attacked in the process!!! Update months later same dog seconds into the dog park targets her and goes after her! First stop in DFW... the dog park! My husky puppy was a good boy on the plane, so I wanted to reward him with running around in the surprisingly cold weather. I was wearing a dress and NOT well-equipped for the midday frost, but I was happy to see him befriending other huskies. There's plenty of parking here, and I like that there's multiple dog park sections, albeit only one was open at the time. Hound Mound showed me that everything really is bigger in Texas, starting with these dog parks! Sometimes Oz wants his own space and other times wants to frolic. No worries there. Hound Mound has all the amenities that any good dog park should have, including seating for hoomans, waste bags, and sufficient water for the pups. Oh, and green grass. All these things may sound straightforward, but I've learned not to take awesome dog parks for granted. Can't wait to bring Oz back. read more

Well, as dog parks go this one is nice. It is spacious and there is a sidewalk walking path which is nice. It is clean and I have only been here once and the people all seemed friendly and nice. Generally dog people are nice as a rule but every now and then... not. There is also a little woodsy area in the very back that allows dogs to think they are getting away from you and that excites my two huskies. :-) some agility equipment to play on - nice. Lots to keep the dogs busy for a while to burn off some energy and interact with their own species. We will be back for sure. read more

How pleasant to find a dog park right by our home with dogs that are well mannered and fun to be around!! We were a little hesitant at first since we were new to the area. Our dog isn't super socialized so we were a little scared about fights and whatnot. Everyone here was so pleasant. The dogs were sooooo friendly and wanting to play with our dog. Other than the place being closed on Wednesday, we will likely bring our fur baby here almost every day. Beautiful and clean park! We love it! Nicely done Flower Mound. Brand new dog park in Flower Mound. The park is really large and they divided it into 3 separate areas, 2 for large breeds and 1 for small dogs. The area the city chose is very nice with lots of large trees and rolling terrain. The only minor concerns I have are lack of parking and sitting is a somewhat limited. I think each section has 2 benches, but not a big deal. read more

We love the hound mound! We've checked out several dog parks in the area and this is our favorite. If you're searching for one, look no further. The only downside is parking on a busy day. Their lot is quite small. Otherwise, this spot is a gem. They separate large from small dogs which is pretty normal. (Though small dogs can check out the large part, just not vice versa). Each part features hills, a wooded area, large rocks to climb, and fun features to play on. There's always a selection of balls and the dog fountains actually work. Our girl is a big fan! read more

Went there for the 1st time at night in the large dog side. There was poop everywhere and people are not watching their dogs. There's way too many aggressive dogs that should not be out in public, let alone at a dog park. I saw a few fights simultaneous And there's a girl that sits on her phone while her dog lunges and snaps at people. She needs to not only watch her dog but get it the training it needs. If it lunges and snaps at people, the dog is at risk of bitting and being put down. Maybe it's better if you have small dogs. read more

My pup and I just came to this park for the first time. It was really nice! We were in the small dog area. It had lots of trees for shady spots, and a sitting area for pet parents. There were plenty of doggie bag stations and unlike most parks, it looked like pet parents actually cleaned up after their pets! There were plenty of water stations, as well as fun little obstacles for your pup to play on. I liked that big and little dogs are separated (there are two areas for big dogs) and that the entrance and exit gates are kind of separate. There are some tennis balls and toys there in case your pup forgets to bring their own. Just please leave them at the park for other pups to enjoy. :) Overall it was pretty and fun for dogs. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because there were fire ant hills. Maybe they spray the grass for them and it's time again for it to be done, I'm not sure. That was the only negative part. As long as you're aware of where they are, your pup will be fine and love it there. read more

I've taken my German Shepherd to almost every park in the area, and Hound Mound is by far my favorite for the following reasons: - Two Big Dog parks on-site that they rotate between about every three weeks so the grass has a chance to come back. The big dog park on the right has hills and a cool bridge over a creek, and the big dog park on the left is super convenient to parking. - Both sides have shaded areas to sit on sunny days. Water is readily available, and poo bags are at the entrance to each location. - The gates are spring loaded so it helps getting your pet inside without someone else's pet escaping. - Large port-a-potty's for the humans if you need one. (They are actually pretty clean) This park is in a nice neighborhood and has a great vibe. People pick up after their pet's, and I have seen very few incidents of aggressive dogs with absentee owners. There are quite a few "regulars" who come here daily. I come often even though I live closer to Denton's Wiggley Field and the Highland Village DP because I enjoy this park so much more. Only downside is a relatively small parking lot that can get full quickly on beautiful days, and that they are closed every Wednesday. read more

Be careful not to go the one day per week they're closed for maintenance - which I believe is Wednesday. My dogs are new to dog parks and this one is amazing! Tons of room for them to play & there's always new dogs for them to meet. It's very clean & poop bags are available in several locations. This is our dog's Chooch and Blondie's favorite dog park. Blondie is a small terrier but loves to run amuck in the big dog area with her big, little sister Chooch who is a Dobrador. We love this park so much because it has agility equipment for us to practice skills on. There is ample room for running around which our girls need because sometimes they feel like feeling the wind in their hair. Plenty of fetch balls around, and the people who frequent this park seem to be awesome dog people as well. Our first time on the small dog side, scooter the chihuahua greeted our dogs like he was the ambassador here which was really fun! We have fun here letting our dogs mingle and socialize! read more

It can get muddy when it's rained but other than that she really enjoys all the open space and socialization,the dogs here are all for the most part well behaved and less rowdy then other places I've been too. I take my dog 4-5 times out the weeks they close on Wednesdays for maintenance though. read more

LOVE this park!! We drive from Carrollton to come here. The large dog area is huge with a mini forest-like section with tons of shade, plenty of trees, obstacles, shaded seating, a water fountain and hose connection to cool the pups down nicely. There are plenty of available poo pick-up stations and community tennis balls available. The large dog area seems to have a more lively crowd of owners who are active with their dogs and very friendly to others. The small dog area seems to be more chill, where everyone sits quietly without acknowledging anyone else while their teacup sized yorkie sits at their feet. read more
