My dog and I love coming to The Shacks! The big dog park is huge and my dog loves running around sniffing the other dogs. The people and dogs there are all very friendly and I have never come across any issues. There's also plenty of seating for the pet parents and most of the dog park is shaded which is perfect for those warmer days. Parking is never an issue either and we love how close it is to us. I also love all of the different food options at the shacks. There is a wide variety and something for everyone. The empanada spot is my personal favorite. We are regulars here! Our favorite place when the weather is nice is the shack, we bring our dog to the park to get his energy out andddd we get to eat!! There's a variety of choice to eat here last time we got pizza and tacos and we wanted tot rt the empanadas but we will next time. We hit up the dog park behind the restaurants a few times. The place was really cool and our dog loved it just running around and frolicking with other dogs. There is a separate section for large or small dogs and plenty of seating. It's easy to grab food or a beer while you are there. The park was pretty clean and there is access to city water for the dogs to drink. The entrance is tricky to see the first time, but it is behind and kind of in between a bunch of the buildings. Just park in the main lot and walk into the gap between the largest groups of buildings and you'll see the path down and the metal fence. read more

The restaurants and bars here are so dog friendly, and the workers absolutely love seeing furry friends come to hang out! The local does have water bowls ready for your fur baby to have a drink, and they also have plenty of food and drink options to pick from. The dog park is also a great place to hangout with people and pups alike. This place is also always hosting various events like small business farmers markets, streaming sports games, or their iconic chicken sh*t bingo every other Sunday. The only downside is some of the tiny food shacks that appear on their site aren't always open when you expect them to be when you come by. **ONE ISSUE keeps this park from being great** First, The Good- This is a great place to grab some food and a drink while the dogs (and people) can socialize and exercise a bit. Lots of seating and shade, and separated areas for LARGE and SMALL dogs. And THAT'S the problem- Someone needs to be there to monitor these areas, and remind people to respect other owners. On our last visit, one couple had their 2 LARGE dogs in the Small Dog area. They stayed (alone) for over an hour, rendering that entire area unusable for the rest of us. We took our small dogs into the other area, but they felt scared and overpowered- and stayed on the bench with us, or right behind our feet. It was also unfair for large dog owners, who had to monitor their pups that wanted to play with our dogs. One precious Rottweiler puppy was so hurt she couldn't make friends. Eventually, we left. I LOVE this place, but for our smaller doggos- it's hit or miss if the park is available. read more

Now that we're at the 1-year mark of COVID, it's a little hard to find or create new experiences. We found The Shacks at just the right time. Our 10-month-old German shepherd mix can run and play to his heart's content in the spacious dog park with lots of other dogs. I like that there's a good amount of seating in the dog area. You can chill, watch your pup play, pet other pups. Drinks are allowed in the dog park --you can even order beer from one area!--which is a plus. There are several tasty food options. So far I've really enjoyed Dirty Burger Bar and loooooved OMG Tacos. The staff and friendly and helpful. Overall this is just a lovely oasis where mom and dad can have a beer and some tacos, our kid can have a burger, our dog can run around, and everyone goes home happy. read more

WE love it! "We" being me and my dogs. It's designed for both humans and canines so it's the perfect weekend hang. I'll be honest, I'm always going to be biased towards a business that allows pets. I love taking my dogs places where we can all enjoy ourselves. The Shacks has a dog park (on the smaller side) with adjoining restaurants connected by a patio. You can order food and hang out on the patio (some restaurants offer seating indoors but it's very limited) or spend time in/around the dog park. One venue even has a bucket system designed to deliver cold brews to you while in the dog park. I haven't used the feature myself but it's hilarious to watch. I wish there were more healthy and veggie food options but what I've experienced has been tasty. The cool thing is everything is connected so there's variety and it's great for groups. Sometimes they have live entertainment on the patio and for certain holidays they set up dog-friendly vendors in the parking lot. Overall, it's a great place to spend an afternoon when the weather's nice. read more

The Shacks are conveniently located for anyone in The Colony Plano, Frisco or Lewisville. When you arrive, there's lots of nearby parking available. Based on my observations, there's a taco place, a burger place and a ramen place. I ventured to OMG Tacos and got two pretty yummy tacos for less than $5 thanks to happy hour. After ordering food, I provided a name, phone number and email, and I was given a code to get into the small dog park, where my dog played for a bit. Even though I wasn't drinking, I love dog parks that also offer adult beverages, and it seems like they have a solid selection here. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and regret waiting so long to check it out. The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it felt kinda dead for such a lovely afternoon, and also because the entrance door was broken for the dog park. Their dog attacks another dog (not rough housing - actual attack), and the owner is nowhere to be found. The concept is a cool idea. But so many irresponsible dog owners showing up. I love this dog park so much!! Over the summer we came here many times a week because this is by far the best dog park in the area. They separate big dogs and small dogs which is good because my Pomeranian puppy would get destroyed by the big dogs. Security is also really good because they have 2 doors that you go through in order to get into the dog park. This keeps dogs from running out to where they shouldn't be. The facility is one of the best dog parks that we have been to. They have nice chairs, lights for when it gets dark, and mist fans on the patio when it's hot. We found out that the best time to come during summer time is around 8PM because that is when it gets cooler and more people show up around then. The restaurants on the patio are all really good. I really like Ten Ramen especially! The only issue I have with this dog park is that the park itself has wood-chips instead of grass which is good for pee but could potentially poke your dog. It hasn't been a problem for us yet though read more

Finally got a chance to come by with the pooch on a day that wasn't overly crowded. They've got some interesting restaurants and bars with a good selection of beers and wines. I got a beer from Grrrrowlers, and my wife and daughter got a wine and coffee from Turbo. My wife's wine was really small. The guy used the rest of the bottle and then I guess didn't feel like opening another one. The coffee was good but pricey. My beer was also good, and there were others on the list I'll try for next time. The dog park and patio concept is really cool. It's a little small and cramped in some areas but not bad in others. My pup and I just relocated to Plano and The Shacks has easily won our heart. This is my favorite place to come get a drink while my dog gets his workout in and socializes.
