It's one of the best dog parks in the area when it is open though. Covered seating for pet owners and large and small dog areas that are huge.

There's also plenty of seating for the pet parents and most of the dog park is shaded which is perfect for those warmer days. Parking is never an issue either and we love how close it is to us. You order at their window and can sit inside their shack or take it to the patio. Since we have our dog we always sit out and enjoy the patio and view of other dogs. I discovered this park after joining Plano Pacers last night and seeing that this is our monthly location for 5k races. I walked over to check out the course prior to Saturdays race. I loved everything about it! It's truly beautiful in every sense of the word. What I can say, is on a very hot TX day the park itself (not Legacy trail) didn't seem to have a ton of tree coverage. You'll definitely want a wide brim hat and some sunscreen. The paths, wild flowers, lake, creek, trees, birds, bunnies and so on were all very lovely. I've been running a ton of routes since relocating to the neighborhood and I'm always thankful to find new paths to incorporate in, seeing as though I'm a distance runner and have been trying to put together some ideas for various different mileage options from my doorstep. I was very accustomed to an out and back in my previous city that I could easily get over 20 miles on and have been looking to somehow recreate a similar very straight forward route like that. I will most definitely be looping Windhaven Meadows Park and Legacy Trail into my runs. Highly recommend if you're looking for a gorgeous peaceful place to walk and relax. I can't wait to bring friends and family here!

The water fountains are clean and functioning well, the waste bags are thick and high quality and there is a TON of shade and seating which is important for those summer days. The pond for the dogs to swim in great for the summer, though if you have small dogs I recommend giving them life vests to wear as I think the water is deeper than it looks at some parts. Note that the pond is not separated between large dogs and small dogs. There is also a water fountain with a hose attachment that you can use to hose down your dogs after they go swim.

A new 3 acre park for all sizes of mans best friend. It's divided into three areas of small dog,large dog and general area . Nice benches and picnic tables are placed about as well as modern,clean restrooms. All grass lawn areas with plenty of room to roam. There's even a convenient watering hole for hydration of humans and K9z. This place is pretty great and if you like dog parks,check this one out.
