Great park had a lot of room! The only thing I did not like is that there was not any shade. It made my dog more tired (which was good), but at the same time some type of shade or tree or more sitting would be great. Other than that my dog had a great time! read more

I love this dog park! They have two ample spaces, one for the bigs and one for the smalls. Even though my pup is 25 lbs, I bring him to the small dog side and he loves it. The guys people and pups are super friendly and very attentive about keeping an eye out on their dog to make sure they are behaving. Both sides have sidewalks surrounding it so you can get your cardio on while your pup tires itself out! There's a main parking lot on the west side of the park then parking on the east side of the park near the small one. Happy to see my tax dollars at work! read more

After trying a few dog parks in the Allen area, we finally found a dog park that we liked which is Jack Carter! We like the huge space and flat grass where our big puppy can run free and have fun. We've met a few good folks here and as well as some well behaved puppers. The big dog area is definitely huge compared to the small dog area (separated by a fence). Surrounding the grass area is a walkway if you choose to walk around the perimeter, and there are some shaded seating areas for you to sit on while you watch your dog. Each area is double gated, which helps you and your get situated going in and out the park. Even though we love going to this park, I have to give one less star because they've been closed the past 3 times I've visited! It's always so sad to walk towards the park and get told by a disappointed dog owner that the park is closed, and then when I start to leave, it's my turn to tell an incoming dog owner the same thing. The first time was due to the previous day's storm, another time they delayed opening until 9:30 AM (when the sign clearly says they open at sunrise), and the last time they were doing lawn maintenance.. but ummm they looked pretty done when we were there! Luckily there is a trail to continue your walk if the park is closed. Nevertheless, please open the park for our dogs and keep it consistent! read more

Love Jack Carter dog park. I have been coming here for over 10 years. My biggest concern is people who bring young children in the park and let them run around. Some dogs are herding dogs and their instinct is to chase them. Then the kids get all upset and the parents get frustrated with the dog owners. The dog owners also worry about unintended injury with the kiddos. Please, if you bring your kids stay near them and don't let them run around. This is a park for the dogs. read more

I love any place that will allow me to let my dog off the leash. People here are friendly, and the park is easily accessible. It is also surrounded by bike/walking trails. There is a creek for your dog to play and cool off in, but they are supposed to stay on the leash. Make sure your dog is vaccinated before you bring them out to avoid sickness! One issue with the park. People do not follow the rules, which leads to problems. I watch the people socialize and pay little attention to their dog. Meanwhile, the dog is doing his business and no one cleans it up. Also, people are smoking and curious dogs get themselves burned. No smoking in the dog park! How hard is it to walk outside of the gate?? One last thing, quit bringing your tiny little dog into the large dog area. Why do you think there are two seperate areas? Because little dogs get killed and badly injured by large dogs who are not familiar with small dogs. Hunting is in the nature of most large breeds, and if your little poodle slightly resembles a rabbit then it's probably not a good idea to send him running in front of a Husky. read more

We had a great time here this weekend. We were at the park for almost three hours and saw no incidents (unheard of at the other large dog park in Dallas). Plano AC is there most weekends and they check to make sure your dog is wearing tags, so be sure to have them on you when you visit. This place gets super busy on nice weekends, so be prepared to be alert. People do a pretty decent job picking up after their pets, but of course there are some 'look the other way' types. Just throw the poo at them, that will learn 'em. There is lots of parking on the street when the lot is full, just don't be one of the people who pulls your monster size SUV onto the grass (speaking of wanting to throw poo...) There is a side for big dogs and one for little dogs, and both have working water fountains which is a nice feature. Read the rules posted on the gate and have a great time! The park is off of Spring Valley near Custer, just look for the green city sign in the median on Spring Valley or follow the line of cars with dog heads hanging out the windows! read more

I bring my English pointer here cos she needs the exercise. I bring my schnauzer/poodle mix along cos she is 112 in human years; thus, senile & in the need of a new setting & the chance to socialize. Actually, all the other dogs follow her around as if they know she is ancient & therefore wise....well, wise not so much but ancient definitely. The park is kept up pretty well....its normally clean so I have never had an issue with stepping in something gross and both the big and small dog sections are vast enough for the respective sized dogs. Also, they have working water fountains in both sections where you can fill up your portable dog dishes. I particularly like bringing my dogs here when its not very crowded and oftentimes they even have the run of the place cos there are not too many other dogs in attendance. This doesnt happen often on the weekends though. Both my dogs seem to really love the dog park as is evidenced by their tongues dangling from their mouths in anticipation as soon as they figure out where it is we are going. Most of the other owners who come here are either friendly or just wont bother you so its always a very comfortable visit for humans as well. FYI: The plano parks and recreation department closes the dog park on the first and third Tuesday of each month for maintenance. read more

Great place to take our Fivel off of the leash. I really enjoyed taking him (and others, a blessed memory now) here when I lived in Plano. The sections for both large and small dogs is perfect. I always found a nice crowd of dog parents here; friendly dog people. My biggest complaint is that this park is small compared to other dog parks I've taken my dogs to. It's not very convenient to me and the two times I've taken the boys, I've had ulterior motives nearby. The park has common amenities like doggipot bags, trash cans and water fountains as well as several mock fire hydrants that I haven't seen elsewhere. One of the features I like best is actually the foot bridge between the parking lot and the enclosed off-leash area. It's just a nice touch along the way. If this park is convenient to you and you are happy with the size of the enclosed area, then go and enjoy it with your dogs. If you think your dog needs a bigger area to run around in, check out the Railroad Park in Lewisville or Wiggly Field in Denton. read more

This park is always well kept and clean. In my experience, the owners stay close and attentive to their dogs, especially in the small dog area where we go. I have seen a little scrum happen in the large dog area, but the owners were quick to separate the dogs and the aggressive dog left right away. I have heard that there is some type of security around from time to time to make sure people follow the rules. The reason I'm giving four stars is because the water fountain rarely works and with this Texas heat we have this is a necessity for my pup. I do think that they are working on fixing this issue so I'm looking forward to that. Great park and we will continue coming here! read more

The park itself is nice. It's a dog park. Took my two 4 month old German Shepherds twice with no issues per se. This is not the place to train your dog or "socialize". Duh. Third visit on Sunday night was terrifying. I entered with my larger pup. She did her normal sniffing & went near the picnic table. 20 seconds later a small terrier approached her sniffing, barking, then growled. Juliet did a woof & the LD went in to small doggy attack mode. This scared Juliet & she yelped. Before I could successfully intervene my dog was bum rushed by at least 7-10 additional dogs. Could have been more.... It looked like they were going to tear my dog apart. There was screaming, barking, and what looked like biting. No dragging. She was backed up against the fence.... I fought for my dog...When I realized I was not getting all of the dogs off & they just kept coming...I grabbed her by her collar & lifted her straight up in the air. One did try to grab her ankle. I was not bit, but I was seeing red & it would not have mattered...owners at this point were helping. The owners did their part, but this was not something I read about as far as this packy behavior....with various dogs & breeds. Not talking about a group of three dogs same owner. I have to assume something triggered this...maybe me going no no no during BDLD scuff. Also, there are way too many little dogs & toys in the park. I would not deem this many dogs as aggressive but they were surely easily spooked & this was more than bullying. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Juliet did not have any wounds. We left and I let her walk it off outside the park. I'm going to wait until she is older, but honestly any dog at any age is defenseless to such an event with that many dogs. I can't even find many articles about this type of occurrence. Maybe they were barking & nipping but the scene was horrifying and no dog park is worth her life or health. Watch your dogs. read more

Meh. Probably on the lower end of dog parks. Really just a fenced in area, no trees or anything stimulating the for the dogs. It's ok if you are close and want some socializing for your dog but not much more. I would recommend NorthBark Dog Park. MUCH better and maintained and variety. read more

This is what I would consider to be an average dog park. There is PLENTY of space for your dog to run (in the large dog area). I would consider this an outstanding dog park if I had not been to many others with much more to do. It is just a field that has been fenced in. There is nothing to keep the dogs attention except the balls left there and water bowls. I like that there is always other people there enjoying the park. Having multiple dogs is always great for my pup. I rarely see anyone with an aggressive dog there which is a nice thing. I would just hope that they would add some additional things to do in the dog park as time goes on. On a random side note, do not bring your baby to the dog park if they are not old enough to walk around and not be knocked down. I have seen a couple people bring babies and they get barked at and the parents are surprised by it. ;-) Just a funny random note. read more

The upgrades are done. Yay! The pet owners are mostly great people in the picking up of their dog's waste. I like this park much better, than North Dallas Bark Park. Its cleaner and has more grass. We had an awful experience at Jack Carter Dog Park this morning. I post my experience to bring awareness. We love the park and take our German Shepherd, Gabby, out there to run and play and chase the ball four to five times a week. We have often seen an older, tall, big-bellied man there with a black and white, bob-tailed Australian Shepherd mix, male dog that looks to weigh about 50lbs or so. He is an intact male. He is a nasty, instigating little mutt from our experience. He trolls around the park with his hackles up and growling, mostly pacing the perimeter of the park and being aggressive and intrusive with other dogs. He approached us once with his cranky attitude and we backed off. I asked the owner what was wrong with him and he chuckled and said; "He's bipolar". This morning that nasty little dog instigated a fight with a pit bull mix and it turned into something I will not soon forget. Other dogs (not mine) ran to join in and many were seriously injured, possibly even to their own demise, because the pit bull would simply not let go of their necks. When he did release a dog, he quickly grabbed another. The Australian mix instigated this fight with the pit and many other dogs were injured because of it. Many people left the park in a rush to the emergency vet with bloody, injured dogs and in hysteria themselves. If you see the tubby man and his nasty dog, beware. The older woman who owned the red haired pit bull mix should not have been there if she could not control her dog, either. It was awful and I'm uncertain if we will go back due to the riff raff. I've gone there for over 10 years with my dogs and this is the first time this has happened for those of you new to the park, but I will not soon forget the screams and cries from the dog owners or the screams, cries, and whimpering from the brutalized dogs. read more

I like this dog park but not in love, there's a few things I noticed that would make it better. For one the parking is a lil tight and for days that's it's busy you might have to walk quite a ways to get to the dog yards! The set up is pretty cool though, the yards are big and clean but currently there's no working drinking fountains inside them so when they get thirsty you hv to take them outside the yards... there are signs posted saying fountains will be coming soon .. but still! Another problem is ant beds in the yards, you don't want to have to worry about that when your here to let them roam free and play but other than that it's a great park! read more

Since moving to the area in November, I've been here 3-4 times a week when the weather permits with my Rhodesian mix. Like all dog parks there are the common pains (small dogs in the big park, people eating, people smoking, people not picking up poop, small kids, etc), but my pup always has a blast and we always go home with him tired. . .which is the main point. It's a nice, no-frills park with a water fountain for humans, a dog bowl and hose for the animals, and 9 or 10 benches spread around the park (some in shade, some not). My dog has plenty of space to run, and there are even a few balls to throw (because no one likes the asshole that brings his own toys and then yells if another dog plays with it). As a runner, I like that it sits on the Bluebonnet Trail. Sometimes we use the park as a turnaround spot where I can stretch out while the pup drinks some water and does his business. Total win. read more

Hemingway got his first ticket here. On his way to being the felon that I can be proud of. Actually, it was the result of being a bad parent, as we forgot to put on his collar with his tags on it. No arrests were made...thank goodness, but it proved to us that the City of Plano is serious about their dog park. They issue citations for fights, no tags, and poop pick up. I like that they enforce the pet laws. I think this makes the park safe for humans as well as the dogs. I love, love, love to take Hemingway here. He runs his ass off and I try to keep him from overly-harassing other dogs. They have a community water dish for the dogs and a spigot to fill the bowl. They have the poop bags all over the place so you can pick up after your pet (I so love this because I'm"m always forgetting to bring a bag). The people are so nice and if you go enough, you learn to recognize the dogs and their owners. They will even help you try to catch your dog when you're ready to leave...and your dog isn't. It does get busy on nice weekends, but I have rarely witnessed any fights. There have been some, but nothing Michael Vick-esque...just some dogs getting too aggressive. But these are rare. read more

They have really cleaned up this place. I haven't been here for years and was pleasantly surprised to see they renovated the seating areas, the enter and exit gates and added some gravel surrounding the edges. It's just a big giant square of flatland, but centered around a walking trail which is cool when you want to take a stroll outside of the fencing. Not my favorite dog park to go to, but it'll do when my pup needs a good social hour. The renovations were definitely a huge improvement. read more

It's an open area to allow for the dogs to get some good running in and socializing and there are some benches and picnic tables for seating. Nice, well maintained dog park. A bit hard to find, as you have to walk over a bridge and to the right behind some woods to grandma's house we go... but there is a nice parking lot right in front. Bald peeps and furry peeps were friendly, water bowls and doggie bag stations were scattered strategically around. Place also includes: a few park benches in shaded areas around the perimeter, a water fountain and a tall, well kept fence surrounding both the small dog and large dog areas (probably the best looking fence I've ever seen in any dog park). You can tell this place is well kept and the patrons enjoy having this in their neighborhood. read more

We enjoy taking our furry children to Jack Carter Dog Park! The park is nothing too fancy, but I don't think the dogs care as long as they have space to do their thing. The small pup area is just the right size with the right amount of shade. It could use a bit more seating area for humans, so if you plan to stay for awhile, you might want to bring a folding chair or two. Most owners seem to be very responsible, and the dogs are generally well cared for. read more
