I got salmon with marinara and my husband got a pasta dish with shrimp. Both tasted like they were prepared by and for a child. Shrimp, salmon and pasta all over cooked. No herbs. The chef's training in flavor seems to have stopped at salt & pepper. Maybe the teenaged wait staff was also doing the cooking that day? The ambiance is lovely. read more

I wish the food was better. Great service just a little flat for the prices. Still a good place to visit

All other times I've been here my experience was great but this time I just stopped in to have a drink and was going to get some later so I left my tab open and long story short the bartender closed me out so I paid and my change never came back 3$ ain't nothing to really sweat about but it's the principal. read more

We have come for years to this restaurant and tonight the food was almost inedible. The salads ---Caesar, consisted of chopped lettuce, a few sprinkles of parmeasan and bottled dressing. Simply tasteless and expensive. We also ordered French fries which were meh but the real disappointment were the Brussels sprouts , honestly too disgusting to even eat. I hope this was an off night because we have eaten here often, though not in a while, and we have never had such poor quality. Please raise your game! We Count on this restaurant. read more

The restaurant is very eh. Overpriced, very basic food, but does the trick if you really want to have a long dinner in a restaurant with linen-and-silverware vibes. The bar however is fun and awesome. :) read more

Our service was all but nonexistent. The wait started at the door with at least five minutes before someone talked to us and sat us at one of the many open tables. We soon found out why this place was so empty. Quite awhile later we managed to get a good order in but since we were delivered an empty drink menu we had to wait again. We waited so long I went to the bar to try and order but gave up after 5 minutes waiting again for someone to talk to me. Back to my seat. 2 of the 3 ordered food items arrived. The third never came. My girlfriend was still waiting to order that drink. Finally ordered and never saw the waiter again. Literally. After finishing our meals (without the third item or long-awaited beverage) we waited another 10-20 minutes to no avail. We dropped cash on the table to cover what we actually received and walked across the street, hoping for better (any) service and maybe even something to eat and drink. read more

Scott was very sweet and attentive and dealt with our silly banter. Thank you! Will be back.

Save yourself some time and a headache and go to Gold Dust Pizza instead. It's hard to list all the things that don't work here but overall I highly recommend going elsewhere. The service is absent and the drinks and food are sub-par. I definitely don't recommend getting the strawberry smash, because they don't have the proportions down right. And spare yourself the extra $4 of getting portobello mushroom on your salad as it was a small arrangement of thinly sliced portobello mushroom on a non-dressed salad. I also noticed staff being unprofessional which leads me to believe that there is either no management or training happening here. There's really not many places for dinner in this town but really, walk over to Gold Dust Pizza for great, fast service and good food or drive 10 minutes for more options, just don't waste your time or money here till things change. read more

Ok, my wife and I went here for our anniversary. We started out our meal looking at spider webs all over the walls by our table. We almost left, but we decided to stay. Our waitress was nice, took our order and brought out what I think were biscuits. This might have been the most horrible thing I have ever eaten. Dry, strange taste, jus gross. It was so bad my wife couldn't swallow it. Upon further inspection of these "things" I observed there were bacon bits in them, and my wife is a vegetarian, so her disgust with them was to be expected. But I'm like Mikey, and I'll eat anything but not these. Our main course, me a burger, and my wife a salad we're both actually ok. Hence my rating of two stars. The waitress told us the menu was changing the next day because a new chef came. I can see why, and I hope the chef tried the biscuits. We'll never go back. We'll stick with the awesome pizza place. read more

Much has changed to include sloppy poor service. We left after many items not available and service was so very slow. I have had much better experience here. I can't return under any circumstance. Chef Ramsey would tear this place apart! read more

As locals, we have been to this restaurant a few times. The food can be sometimes inconsistent and the service is so so. My main complaint is when it is warm outside they don't close the front doors and turn the air on... It's kind of hard to enjoy a meal when sweat is pouring down your face... I suggest that the owners read their reviews and upgrade your service. Your not the only place in town. And there are better places in towns nearby... read more

Best appetizers/dinner we've had since being on a ritzy cruise ship! Brussel sprouts with creamy flavorful Aioli spread were 5*****,(my hubby said they're even better than BJ's brewery or any other place), "Pig, Fig & a Goat" delectably surrounded by a tender salty German pretzel could almost be a meal w/ Prosciutto, goat cheese, and a flavorful fig spread... so stinkin good we split the Night's special" tender steak with onions/veggies... YUMMM!! Our gentleman waiter spoiled us silly, pampered us in an effortless way... something we've experienced in five star restaurants in big cities. we left full, happy, and then sauntered downstairs to "the Cellar", with its Tucked away - eclectic vibe (vintage rows of grandmas preserves in sealed in Mason jars chock-full of rubarb & ??) line the Old brick walls...GREAT unique drinks (I savored my lavender lemon drop ) well worth the hour Drive, and we will be baaaaccckk read more

Loved everything about this restaurant, the ambience, staff, vibes. I shared the shrimp fettuccine with double shrimp and roasted Brussels sprouts both were so amazing. The food prices were fitting for the elevated cuisine. Perfect place for date night or out with friends. read more

First time here after seeing it for years. The people were friendly and it's a beautiful place but both burgers tasted like hood grease or very dirty grill. Hardly edible. Took it home for my dogs. Probably should've asked for a refund but I starving and ate the fries. read more

We showed up before they were open for breakfast, but they took us in anyways, and accommodated us as if it was just normal service time. We had an elderly lady (Mom) with us, and we were warmly welcomed. Everything was very good, but beware the jalapeño relish (they typically serve on burgers)!!!!!! It is so firey hot, will literally burn your tongue out!!! I recommend Sutter Hotel! We really appreciate the service and meal we received! read more

This quaint restaurant is located inside hotel Sutter. My friend and I ate her for her bday. We had crab cakes and an appetizer and they were excellent! The texture was a bit pasty but it was very flavorful and there was a nice crunch on the outside of the crab cake! The sauce and presentation was also a plus. As an entree I had the Brie and mushroom burger med well and it was ok... kind of dry... it needed a sauce like teriyaki or a chimichuri sauce to bring it to life. All the food was fresh and very high quality. The portions were generous... but there is no microwave in the hotel rooms so... no way to reheat food. Over all I would love to dine here again as well as stay at the hotel again! Everyone was attentive and accommodating. read more

Had their wings and the Pig Fig and Goat pretzel dish. It was wonderful. Top shelf Rita also hit the spot. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a hurry. Great place with interesting atmosphere read more

There are not too many options for lunch on a Friday in Sutter Creek. We chose Hotel Sutter Restaurant thinking that it would have items beyond salads and sandwiches. Well, it didn't. We ended up ordering the buffalo chicken sandwich and steak sandwich both of which were just average. The casual dining room opens out to Main street allowing for people watching. read more

We first went to try the restaurant across the street but ending up leaving after 10 mins of waiting to be greeted and seated. Walked in here and greeted with a warm friendly smile. Had their Brussel sprouts, summer flatbread, crepe brûlée and the refreshing drink of the day; cucumber refresher. Food was delicious and service was outstanding. So glad we came here instead read more

I wanted to express my sincerest appreciation for your staffs most excellent Thanksgiving dinner your hotel prepared for my family in Plymouth this year. It was all so delicious and amazing! Visiting from LA to see my wonderful family for a small covid-safe holiday gathering, and to my surprise they had ordered a full blown dinner thru your hotel. I thought what a novel idea considering our current state of affairs being careful shopping n all. Wash n wear masks u all! The dinner was priced nicely, and there were left overs:), it was easy to heat up and prepare with the stellar directions, and I can't say one bad thing about the overall feast experience. Thank you Hotel Sutter n staff for making this crazy year seem just a bit nicer with your superior fixings. The Turkey...the mashed potatoes n gravy...and especially the sweet potato yams rocked especially! I am going to try and convince my sister to order from you all for the holidays going forward. Wish me luck! I highly recommend to anyone not wanting to cook for 2 solid days, to hit Sutter Hotel up, cause you won't regret it. read more

On a Saturday night they were definitely not on their A-game. We got drinks at the bar while waiting for a table.. cool. We got seated in the dining room and got forgotten about for twenty minutes. Awful I got the chipotle chicken; it sounded good on the menu- but it was just chicken with rice and a bunch of stuff on the side. I ordered a bottle of wine, only to have the server come back, halfway through my entree to tell me they were out of it. The did comp us a dessert which was okay, cheesecake. Wouldn't ever come back here. Expensive for mediocre food and poor service. read more

Always our go to happy hour spot. As of late the beer selection is off, not to mention the ever changing Brussel sprouts recipe!!!! Every time a new chef comes in he has screwed up what was once a signature dish for the locals. Darius had it right from the beginning, get back to the original!!!!. The version today sucked and only the chef can swallow pride and choose to get back to it. We'll keep coming, the bartendresses are great, atmosphere consistent. HLBLYMD Back tonight, the original is back!!!! Thank you management. Brussels sprouts for everyone!!!! read more

This is definitely the perfect dinner place! The food was out of this world! First they start you with bread. Definitely say yes to the bread! My boyfriend got the grilled shrimp plate and I got the Alfredo Pesto pasta with grilled chicken. Soo delicious! I didn't eat the whole thing, mainly because i wanted to enjoy it later too! We also ordered cocktails! He loved his Mary and I had a delicious margarita! The best part of it all was the staff! They made this experience soooo worth coming back again and again! Kaylee and Brandon were attending to us just the right amount of time, and we were filled with laughter every time they came to our table! We would come back just to see them again! read more

My husband and I ate here on our honeymoon. We weren't sure what to expect but WOW it was delicious! I had Chicken Marsala with veggies and potatoes. The cocktails were amazing our Server, Scott, made perfect suggestions and was friendly and professional. Will definitely go back again.

Ordered the 1858 burger with a veggie patty and they got my order wrong. Brought a replacement burger 10 minutes later and must have dumped a jar of cayenne pepper because it was way to spicy. Prior to eating i overheard a guy in the bar telling the bartender his food was too spicy as well and she replied youre not the first one to say that today. I think were done going to this place for food as ita going down hill. read more

The day before thanksgiving, one would expect busy and be prepared for such. It looked 65% of capacity. An hour wait is a ludicrous time to wait for the main meal. Spinach dip app tasted ok. Very greasy. Very much not hot/warm. The toasted bread rounds had a fantastic crunch without tearing the roof of the mouth. Main course. My NY was cooked a perfect med rare. Mashed potatoes and mixed veg - not hot. The Mrs had a California burger that was cooked med well and very flavorful. While having good tasting good is paramount to going out - service needs immense help. read more

We enjoyed excellent food and service up on the balcony. Our food was delicious and served promptly. The roasted vegetables were really flavorful as well as the grilled salmon. Wonderful ambiance. Varied menu. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. We come here often. Outdoor dining upstairs is spectacular.

Came here for dinner on Sat night and Lunch on Sunday. I enjoyed dinner a tad more..our server just seemed more on it that night and we really appreciated the Miner bread served with dinner...so goddamned delicious, we had to buy a loaf to go! The ceasar salad with prosciutto was excellent!! Crabcakes, eh...not so much and possibly made with canned crab. Shared a rib eye with the hubs and it was amazing! They have an excellent wine selection..I opted for the Bella Grace chard.. I hear if you drink local wine with local food it cures your allergies :) OK maybe that's just for honey.. but I did like eating and drinking local for a moment! Lunch, we opted for burgers and they're good burgers! Very cool spot and we'd definitely come back to eat if in the area...especially for the Miner bread!! read more

So disappointing. I came here hoping the low ratings of yelpers was just a fluke, but if anything, they are generous. Eating out nearly every night due to work and travel I would suggest avoiding this place. Ambiance was the strongest attribute. The decor is historic, there's a small hotel attached, and the atmosphere is casual. Despite half the tables open wait was lengthy. The wait was however much greater until the server ever addressed me. For drinks I ordered an old fashioned and a cab. The old fashioned was awful and I whatever red wine I had was just not a cab. A wedge salad and new york strip, what could go wrong? So after waiting 35 .. 45 .. probably, drinks came. Then salad? Where where are you, oh, you come with my steak when I've been waiting forever and asked for the salad to come out first. Steak, you guessed it, overcooked. My medium rare request is medium well and a little more. The steak was tough and I didn't finish it. Oh and the wedge, decent, but jigantic. I wish the server would of warned me. No desert, not looking for more disappointment. read more

I wanted to really like this place. The aesthetics are upscale. The food is not. I would recommend doing a late lunch in the dining room when the huge windows are open to the air. I might have ordered the wrong thing - crab salad. They used frozen crab and my friends shrimp was the same. I should have known better being so far from the Coast. I would stick with burgers next time. It is one of 2 restaurants available for Lunch in Sutter Creek. The atmoshere is great. Service was very friendly. read more

Okay food but unbelievably slow service. After being seated, two other tables who were seated after us were given their drinks and food before us. Once food was delivered, waiter (Brian) never checked in to see if everything was okay. All aspects of the service was slow, even the bill! read more

If this restaurant is the only thing standing between you and starvation, eat here. Otherwise, go somewhere else. There are not too many restaurants open in the Sutter Creek area now and this was the only one we could get into. We would've been better off going to a grocery store and buying a bag of Doritos. We ordered one of their specialty drinks, and because we got two, the server recommended the special, four for the price of three. Big mistake. They were watery with very little bourbon; it reminded me of the Hawaiian Punch I drank as a kid. My wife's "César salad" consisted of two pieces of yellowish Romain lettuce with a few croutons on a salad plate. Luckily she had added the chicken or that would've been it. My "wedge salad" was a small sad "wedge" resting on a salad plate with a few bacon bits sprinkled on it and some lonely crumbs of blue cheese on the side. These would have been unacceptable as side salads but they were sold as "entrée" salads. Maybe in an alternate universe. (I am giving them a pass on extremely slow service due to the possibility of understaffing due to COVID issues.) If you're stopping over in Sutter Creek, plan ahead. Otherwise, stock a backup bag of Doritos. read more
