We are visiting a horse training facility in the hills and dropped by tonight for dinner. We have a complicated oil allergy and the staff was incredibly kind, non-shaming and the service was amazing! Scott was our waiter and Shena helped us at the front desk--both such wonderful people and the food was also great! (but the kindness of the people inspired me to write a review) read more

We joined family for dinner here for the first time. It will be the last time. After driving by for decades and not having a chance to stop, we were looking forward to enjoying a nice meal and quality visitation with our family. My husband's order of the tri-tip dinner entree for $25 was a joke. Eight pieces ranging in soze from a dime to a Dwight Eisenhower dollar coin were laid across the bottom of the medium sized square plate with no au jus, reduction sauce or "gravy". The coleslaw was lackluster and bland with the garlic tots being similar to Sonic's. Our daughter and granddaughter split a half rack of BBQ short ribs. The "Smoky" beans were mediocre at best along with the "Sonic" tots. I ordered the Moroccan Grilled Salmon filet that wasn't even 3 ounces in size prior to grilling. The Moroccan sauce had no flavor flair of the country namesake along with the asparagus and Brussels sprouts being very undercooked. I ordered a garden salad to enjoy before my entree which was never received. When I asked the server to please make sure it was taken off the bill, she asked me what was wrong with it. When I told her I never got it, she just stared at me and then said "ohhh". I then looked at our family and we all just inquisitively looked at one another in agreement that she truly tried to pass it off as though I got it. Then dessert of Caramel Apple Crisp... a large scoop of cheap extra sweet cobbler served on a coffee cup saucer. Gets better, hours old coffee served in a disposable cup. All this for a whopping $130. Save your money and yourself heartbreak - just don't go. read more

I hate to give bad reviews but this is not the 1st disappointment at this restaurant. My wife and I went out for what was suppose to be a Valentine's Day weekend romantic dinner which turned out to be a waste of an evening. My wife and I showed up to Hotel Sutter around 7:45 and after putting in for a table for 2 we decided to have a drink at their bar, the only thing that is ever consistent and worth the wait beside there hospitable staff. Around 7:55 or so they called us to our table. Once we sat down our waitress, who was great, took our order around 8:05pm. My wife ordered the filet mignon medium rare and I ordered 3 appetizers Wild Prawns, Crab Cakes, and the artichoke dip. While my wife and I had an amazing time and the conversations were flowing we started to realize it was taking extremely long for any of the food to arrive. I noticed tables around us being served yet our appetizers were still not at our table and it was 8:40pm. Between 8:45-8:55 our waitress brought out our appetizers and then came back with my wife's entree. This means my wife's steak along with the 3 appetizers all arrived nearly at the same time. Not that this is a huge problem but once it arrived I noticed the crab cakes were over cooked, the wild prawns were not even Luke warm and on top of that my wife's steak was fully rare in the middle. Now myself, I like it this way but the fact my wife ordered it med rare and it took over 45mins to actually get it was just unacceptable. The artichoke dip was truly the only good part of the dinner and we only had a couple bites before we decided to leave the establishment. This is not the first time we have experienced this. One night I had clients in town, engineers and consultants, and they wanted to go eat steaks in town. I decided to take them to Hotel Sutter. Just to keep this short and sweet they steaks that my associates ordered we uncooked and almost frozen in the middle. It was truly embarrassing from a business standpoint and even more disappointing because of the prices and prestige this place seems to project. As for my wife and I we left HS around 9:05-9:10 the worst part if your from up here you know there really isn't anything worth eating that is open past 9. So my wife and I got to enjoy a Mc Donald's meal for our V Day dinner. Now my times my slightly be off but one thing that isn't was the mishaps of the evening and poor quality of food were served. read more

Stopped in to sober up a little after a few tasting. Love the pretzel just enough for two people. My friend and I then decided to share a sandwich (which I forgot to take a picture) We got the BBBLAT sandwich and it was delicious. I would definitely comeback love the service and maybe come by during lunch time. read more

Hotel Sutter Restaurant - Pretzel - New American Near Me - Sutter Creek, California

Overpriced mediocre food at a wannabe trendy, somewhat modish, historic town hotel. The best part of lunch was sitting out on the dining balcony looking down on the street and watching the parade of classic cars passing by after the show. My recent experience seems to be outside others' recent experiences, perhaps not the norm. The vege sandwich (Hotel California) was unimpressive; a bland mash and dry; served with less than a dozen fries. The naan flatbread (Basil Chicken) looked impressive but topped with dry chewy chicken and not so fresh pesto. The naan bread was crispy; a plus. The side salad served in a bowl, dressing on the side, firmly packed with whole leaf lettuce leaves - I turned it out onto a plate. It appeared that Hotel Sutter Restaurant was hinting at being trendy and somewhat classy. Floor to ceiling folding windows in the front open the first floor dining to the outdoors. A walk upstairs and down the hall to the 2nd floor balcony. The menu offered nothing original nor signature. Service was a bit slow Serving dressing and catsup in plastic 2oz containers isn't my idea of modish. The Saloon Bar area was inviting for a beer or cocktail. The Cellar Bar & Lounge wasn't open .. more likely a place I'd want to explore. read more

We had lunch here and everything was good. We shared the pig, fig and goat and the calamari appetizers and washed them down with a couple of delicious beers. The calamari was lightly breaded and very tender and the dipping sauce was yummy. The pig, fig and goat was a very large pretzel that was filled and surrounded by an herbed goat cheese spread, fig jam, candied pecans, and a large pile of prosciutto. All the different combinations of the stuff were just delicious and too much for us to finish. The service was very friendly and efficient and the prices were good. The only downside was that the front doors/windows were wide open and a couple of DBs sat on their Harleys for at least 5 - 10 minutes revving them loudly and belching smoke and fumes into the building. Everyone clapped when one of the staff finally got those idjits to leave. read more

My husband and I had the great pleasure of dining at the Sutter restaurant on Saturday, Aug 5th. The lunch and drinks were excellent! Anniversary weekend in the first stages of Coronavirus opening and found Hotel Sutter, where we've stayed before the pandemic. This time we weren't staying but hit the restaurant. The wings were the best I've ever had and I'm a wing guy. Thin crispy Buffalo layer when broken through reveals juicy wing meat that doesn't disappoint. Only thing I'll order... read more

The service was great! People were friendly and cheerful! The food.........disappointing. We had the shrimp and crab Louie. I understand that the location is a ways from the coast.....but the crab seemed CANNED and the size (for the price) was NOT GOOD. read more

Service was overall good but the food was disappointing. The bread brought out to each table (wonderful gesture) is mediocre at best. We had the Cobb salad which was decent. The pesto pasta was a HUGE salt bomb. We ordered the burger medium and it came out rare. We sent it back and after 15 minutes it still wasn't back. Overall a disappointing dinner and there must be better places in town to eat. read more

If I could give a zero star I would. Our server Scott, blamed his horrible service on his work schedule. We were seated for over 50 minutes and still had not been asked for our dinner order. After being brought 2 wrong drinks in a row we made reservations at the place across the street, Pub and Grub. I will never give this place a second chance. Horrible read more

Love, Sutter Creek, hotel food and bar very delicious and even though it seems more upscale it's still family orientated. Only thing I wish they would bring back is there candy bacon it is to die for.! read more

I love this place. Everytime my family and I are in the area we have to stop by and have some good food. We love this place the atmosphere is cute and has an old charm. The drink menu usually has some new interesting drinks for us to try. The food though is what keeps us coming back. We always order some type of seafood dish and this is one place I can actually say that has never over cooked my shrimp or fish. The salmon melts in your mouth. The other thing I like about this place is they always have me trying or new veggies or things I wouldn't normally eat due to me being a very picky eater. read more

This place was busy and we probably didn't choose to visit on the right weekend...they were busy and the servers were not working as a team but struggling to keep up with all the tables and requests. In these times it seems this is "normal?" Understaffed and over worked... food was fine nothing extraordinary but good... read more

We had an adventure day and ended up here for lunch. Bad choice. The brussel sprouts were AMAZING, and that's the only reason I'm giving 2 stars. The burger had a burnt taste to it and the clams were just okay. This was extra disappointing after the hour wait we had to get them. The restaurant wasn't that busy but our waitress took our order and never came back. We were served a salad with no dressing, and when we asked a staff member for a drink she told us to hold on and never came back. Overall a very disappointing experience. read more

Our server Scott was amazing with his recommendations one the menu. The coconut shrimp where outstanding with the batter covering the entire shrimp and the sauce to dip them in. He recommended the Brussel sprouts and when he came over to ask how our food was he then let us know how they are prepared and cooked. The "Oscar" surf n turf was so delicious we got medium rare steak and it just melted in your mouth. The crab and the hollandaise sauce on top of every thing really made the meal that much better. My husband got the Long Island and he absolutely loved it with the lemonade. Again Scott was amazing throughout the whole dinner. Thank you so much from the Franklin's read more

Ambience: ***** great decor with a touch of old and modern. From the brick walls to the lighting fixtures, it had an elegant rustic feel about the place. Great for casual to romantic. Wine/cocktails: N/A stuck with water. Food: **** Overall the food was spot on and I enjoyed all of it. -House made bread; soft and sweet, and hearty. Crab cakes; were delicious and unique. Had a twist on the original crab cake with a spice or smoke flavor. -Sutter style naan bread; best tasting BBQ sauce I have ever had with artichoke hearts and tomatoes . -Shrimp and grits; best grits I have ever tasted. Creamy buttery and the right amount of thickness. -lemon marscapone berry cake; came highly recommended by our server. I typically don't care for lemon-anything-dessert, however, it was very light and complimented the dish. The cake had the thickness of a pound cake and the marscapone was Iight and airy. Service: ***** our server was attentive, made great recommendations, kept the water filed and brought appetizers and entrees at the appropriate times. Recommendation: I would eat here again for dinner, it's a must try read more

On a Tuesday evening in Sutter Creek we had limited choices for dinner within walking distance of the Hanford Inn. So we settled on the Hotel Sutter Restaurant. I found the atmosphere was better than my food. I had one of the specials, Osso Buco. The portion was huge and the meat tender and flavorful. However, the sauce on the polenta was very salty. And the vegetables -- green beans and carrots -- were inedible. They were not even close to al dente. Both DH and I tried a few bites and then left the rest on our plates. DH was happier with his meal of BBQ ribs in a blueberry bourbon sauce. We "might" try this restaurant again .. but probably not. read more

I wish I could say we enjoyed our experience. We went in excited to try something new and were left sorely disappointed. The one highlight is the beautiful venue. But that's it. The service was pretty bad. We sat in the bar and there were two bartenders, but though we could see them, they apparently couldn't see us. We ordered the cheese plate as an appetizer. Good thing we already had other dinner plans because we wouldn't have stayed after that. The cheese plate was composed of the basic meats and cheeses you can by at Safeway. Ridiculous slices of tasteless cheddar and Gouda. The "crackers" were slightly fancier than Ritz. The grapes were soft and some were rotted. We paid $17 for food we could have purchased on our own for less than $10. I felt swindled and frustrated. read more

We enjoyed our meal and appreciated the pleasant service. Food and drinks were okay. Cool ambience.

This restaurant was recommended to us by Rest boutique hotel, where we're staying. Sutter Creek itself is a cute town. The dining area was set up behind the hotel in the parking lot. The staff were friendly. We ordered the NY steak with Yukon potatoes and coleslaw and lamb shank with Mac and cheese and veggies. They were healthy portions and delicious. The only feedback I would give is that it didn't seem like the servers had designated sections. After we were seated, it took at least 10 minutes for one of the servers to notice that we hadn't been tended to yet. I've been to places where there isn't a designated server and everyone helps out, but none of the other servers came by to check on us throughout the evening. After we were done, it took a while to get the table cleared and get our check. read more

Amazing lunch! Every aspect of it and every dish was perfect. We walked in without a reservation and even though it was busy, we didn't wait long to be seated. I ordered the sangria which was delicious, fresh and had lots of fresh fruit pieces in it. Others at the table ordered bloody marys and margaritas and everyone loved their drinks! I highly recommend the chicken wings, they were absolutely amazing and crispy. The Sutter burger was delicious too. We loved our meals and the service was above and beyond. Unfortunately Hotel Sutter was a huge disappointment on all levels last night. I tried to give the server a break on her lack luster attitude and inability to answer simple questions because she was busy and hustling to most all tables in the restaurant. I know the problems of getting good people in restaurants during the pandemic era, but because this is considered and upscale restaurant, the server needs to be better. The food was the big fail. Chicken piccata was dry and devoid of any sauce save a few dry capers. It was overcooked and tasteless. The New York steak was under cooked for a medium order and bled all over the mash potatoes. The end bites of the steak were gristly and tough and impossible to chew. I have had great meals years ago, but this was bad. I hope it was a fluke and not a sign of where they have gone. read more
