Delicious food (ask for the house made hot sauce if you like things spicy), friendly staff, beautiful scenery, and wine available by the glass from the tasting room. I agree with another Yelper that they could reduce their single use plastic use by serving food on compostable plates or containers.

Brisket sandwich and fries...great choice and super tasty.

You know that Saturday afternoon feeling when your date blindfolds you...kidnapping you to Amador County for a lover's weekend?...okay maybe you don't know that feeling...I was 100% down with that experience though, and next thing I know I'm walking into the The Kitchen @ Helwig Winery. Quickly glanced at the menu and the brisket sandwich was calling me out! Ordered up one brisket sandwich that included seasonal fries and one quesadilla, add grilled chicken. Minutes later we picked up our food order and bam! I Examined my sandwich however I forgot to bring my Yelp Elite food scale and tape measure for this adventure...for those of you wondering it's like a Yelp CSI gear bag for the Elite of the Elites. Needless to say this brisket sandwich and fries was a bullseye today folks. Everything about this sandwich was A plus, plus the brisket flowed together wonderfully with all the ingredients to include fried pickles and I don't even like pickles! The weight and size of this brisket sandwich was like a miniature Boeing 747 it just kept giving and giving due to the amount of brisket deliciousness. When hunting the bomb Zinfandel in Amador Co swing into The Kitchen @ Helwig for some tasty eats.

Came here for lunch and stayed for the wine. Both were magnificent! Who would've known that this little take-out kitchen could create such delicious food? I ordered the Reuben for $16. It came with House smoked pastrami, swiss cheese and Reuben Dressing on marbled rye, served with pickle spears and seasoned tries. The smoked pastrami came in thick chunks and it was perhaps the best Reuben I've ever had! It was so filling that I could only eat half of the sandwich. The fries were nicely seasoned and it went well with the aioli dipping sauce. Hubby got The Dave burger. It came with a 6 oz burger, bacon onion jam. lettuce tomato. smoked gouda cheese. roasted garlic mayo on a grilled bun. Served with seasoned fries. He said it was one of the best burgers he has ever had! Service was friendly and efficient. Basically you order inside and take a seat outside on their gorgeous patio that overlooks the beautiful vineyards. Our food was ready within 10-15 min. We weren't planning on trying their wine but since their food was so good, we went into their winery and did a tasting flight. We ended up buying a bottle of their Petite Sirah. I would highly recommend this place for the food and the wine!

What do you do when you forget to plan for lunch when you go into a more remote wine country region through the back door? You pull up Yelp and start searching for places before your hangry wife loses it (especially since she is the driver). She was really hungry so she waited in the car until I found out if they were still serving food. It's a large place so it took a bit to find the restaurant when we eventually found each other. I think we were there on a Monday late in the season so there weren't many people around and of course the covid is putting a crimp in wine country visits too. But we ordered from the hostess station and went and found our seat. Great views. A little warm with direct sun but it was away from most everyone else which made me feel better. The food came out pretty quickly and was good. I loved my tomato soup with some grilled cheese sticks. My wife got the tri tip mac and cheese and it was awesome. It tided us over for the rest of our day and journey home. I look forward to returning and having a real wine country experience with a tasting and everything. But I at least know the food is good enough to make it a destination for both!

After our tasting next door, we grabbed lunch from here. You order inside, get a buzzer, find a seat outside (first come basis), and then go pick up your food. I got the burger and fries and it was filling and did the job! Juicy and delicious- just wish the fries were crispy!

Chicken pozole. Soup is good but not worth the $12 for such a tiny portion.

Chicken pozole. Soup is good but not worth the $12 for such a tiny portion. Talked to the manager who's said " we don't want to fill it so the lid won't fit" and " we'll it is just a "cup size ". . Had a great cellar tasing, bought 2 cases of wine, but this just kinda ruined the overall visit.

Caesar salad with crispy chicken. All breading taken off.

If Michelin knew about Plymouth, California they would put a star here! Established in 1871 and…read moreincorporated in 1917, originated as a Gold Rush mining town originally known as Pokerville or Puckerville. Centered around the productive Plymouth Consolidated Mine, it became a key hub for quartz mining, later evolving into the "Gateway to the Shenandoah Valley" for its renowned wine region. Taste is in the heart of downtown. With two menus and seating areas (the dining room or bar) you must order off the menu where you sit (no cross ordering which is great). Sit at the bar for the bar menu or sit in the dining room for a fixed price menu only but with fantastic choices and you can even get multiple section dishes which they scale down the generous size of a single dish so you can try more food (genius strategy). We were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary and we went all out like I hit the lottery (don't we all wish?). I started out with the caviar service which came with these incredible potato cakes rather than the usual mini Bellinis. Then we had oysters on the half shell, perfectly shucked, clean and no grit. Nothing ruins an oyster experience like a grit of shell or sand. None of that here! My photos show the entire meal which rivaled many restaurants I have been to in San Francisco. This is a Michelin level dinner but at a reasonable price considering the portions (LARGE) unlike The French Laundry where you get 80% less food for 75% higher prices. This is a place not to miss and is now my #1 pick for January 2026 for a high end quality meal with white glove service in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. I will be returning to check the bar menu which has completely different food. The menu will change so what I listed might not be on the menu but the Mushroom Cigars have always been on the menu for years. It clearly is a crowd pleaser and there is nothing here to critique other than you want to just keep eating! 5 Stars 1 Michelin Star (needs to be awarded here in my book!)

I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the chicken both dishes were superb!! We started with the shrimp cocktail each and the split pea soup and finished with the Upside down pineapple cake. It was a huge piece. I couldn't eat all of mine. The singer had a beautiful voice, she looked so elegant and it was a tribute to 1957. They gave you a card to answer trivia questions from 1957. Neither of us were born yet so we had to use google. It was a fun thing to do. I'm so glad we took the opportunity to go to the Hotel and afterward we went downstairs to the speakeasy to ring in the New year in Sutter Creek. We live in Sparks, NV so it was nice to get out of town and do something different.

Hotel Sutter Restaurant has been on my list of places to check out in our neck of the woods for a while. We for sure wanted a classy place that served cocktails, and Hotel Sutter fit the bill. Both of us were also craving a good craft burger, and from what I saw in other reviews, the burgers looked delicious. I made a reservation for us on OpenTable just in case, but since it was a weeknight I wasn't too concerned if we had walked in. We were seated nearly immediately, and our server cheerfully asked us what we wanted to drink besides good ole H2O. I was really glad we came to visit around Christmastime, since they were serving holiday cocktails and other beverages. I went with the partridge pear martini, while my husband went with the Santa's spiced cider. My martini was oh so delicious and perfectly strong, and I had a small sip of my husband's cider, which was refreshing with the perfect holiday-esque notes. We read a few mixed reviews on the apps, so went straight to the entrees instead. I chose the bacon jam burger and my husband chose the traveller whiskey burger. Both of us upgraded to the garlic rosemary seasoning. I went with fries and my husband went with tots. Honestly, we were glad that we didn't end up ordering an app, since the burgers themselves were pretty filling! We both asked for medium on the cook temp of our patties, and they delivered. The meat was perfectly juicy with a wonderful charred flavor. The bacon jam was so delicious, and the balsamic arugula paired perfectly with everything. My brioche bun was pillowy and yet did not fall apart with all the juices of the burger. I did not get a chance to try my husband's burger, but he stated that it was also top notch. My fries were piping hot, with a perfect dusting of garlic rosemary flavor and sprinkles of Parmesan cheese. I tried a tot and that was also delightfully crispy and flavorful. We asked for ranch and that went well with both sides. The ketchup was great as well. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Old buildings are always up my alley, and the rich history of Hotel Sutter can truly be felt simply by touching its brick walls (that is, if you believe in the spirit realm). I loved that each table had its own light, but the restaurant had the perfect dim setting for a classy date night. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and kept our waters refilled. We had a concern regarding the pricing of the cider on the bill vs on the menu and that was fixed immediately, with the rest of the staff notified for future reference. It was a tiny discrepancy, but one that we caught quickly and simply wanted to bring up. Hotel Sutter Restaurant is definitely on our places to return to in the future, and I'd love to sit on the balcony some other time and enjoy some brunch and mimosas. If you're looking for an excuse for date night or are just feeling fancy, definitely come relax, sip some delicious cocktails, and enjoy the delicious food Hotel Sutter Restaurant has to offer!
