As someone who loves lighter reds (e.g., Gamays, Pinot Noirs, etc.) with interesting layers, this was my favorite place in Sutter Creek. The Gamay Noir was my #1, followed closely by Tannat, and I loved the Craftsman bungalow and the thoughtful touches, like having chargers on each table. I also liked how the winemaker talked to us just enough about the wines, since we could see how much he cared about the grapes without being overly twee. I've been cutting down my email newsletters and notifications, but I just added this one. I'm excited to see what they do! read more

This is an absolute gem in gold country. As the owners, Aaron and Shane will tell you, their wines are a bit different than some. Different, in they are delicious. They put heart and soul into their wines and the tasting room. Moreover, the wines reflect the love of their craft. However, don't take my word for it, I've only been drinking fine wines for 40 years...or do take my advice, you won't regret it. read more

We just discovered this new winery tasting room in Sutter Creek this past weekend. They only opened a month ago and are doing some really interesting wines. This place was awesome. We came in on a really hot day so it was slower. However, Shane went above and beyond to make our experience so amazing. Excellent wine tasting experience! The tasting room is in a restored old craftsman style home, with tasteful decor and intimate seating arrangements. We especially loved that we were able to meet and be served by Aaron, (winemaker/co-owner) and Shane (co-owner). The wines are unique and expressive. Several of the varietals were new to us, and Aaron shared interesting info about their characteristics and why he chose them. Specialties

We make small batch, craft wines from unique and interesting wine varietals using a wide variety of winemaking techniques. Our goal is to never make the same wine twice. We want our visitors to always have something completely new and interesting to look forward to for their next visit.

History

Established in 2021.

We started making wine in Upstate NY back in 1995 as regular home winemakers. Over the years we experimented with a wide range of varietals and winemaking styles. In 2011, our careers brought us to California. We spent many years exploring the wine areas of Northern California until deciding to settle in Sutter Creek in 2020. 2020 was a year of change for many, and for us, it was the year that we decided to take the first steps in pursuing our dream of starting a winery. We officially started Raven's Reach Winery in 2021 and opened our tasting room in January 2023.

That has to explain why he creates some very delicious wines now. Elisheva, his wife and business partner hosts the tasting room, or should I say tasting garden. After checking in at the actual tasting room, I walked the path to the garden and could pick any seat. I was brought a nice charcuterie / cheese plate to enjoy with the wines and the sunny morning. The barbera and tawny port are two of my favorites. The sparkling rose was nice and light, perfect as we now enter 100 degree days for the summer. I had to show them the email confirmation. It was fine and we were still able to sit down right away. The inside wine tasting room is kind of small but the outdoor patio and area makes up for it. It is quite big and open. I think someone can host an outdoor concert or a wedding. We got to taste about five type of wines (Sauvignon Blanc and few blended red wine). They were all good. I particularly like the 2020 Interlude and purchased a bottle for my sister. We also got to sample from their gallery collection library club that's like 20+ years old ( I forgot the exact year) and that was special. They also have dumplings and spring rolls for purchase. I skip that because I wasn't sure if that would go with the wine. We bought some cheese with us and we had that with our wine. Of course, we asked for permission before bringing in our own cheese and crackers. The gentleman that served us was really nice and friendly. We didn't feel rushed and wine was poured at a good pace. I first discovered Andis Winery years ago, when they used to host an annual crab feed at the Milagro center in Sacramento. I definitely miss those days! I do love the drive up to the Sierra foothills. It's about an hour and change out Of Sacramento, and driving through the beautiful countryside to get to what feels like the rainbow on the other side is definitely worth the drive. Yes, there are other wineries in the area, but this is definitely a must try. The winery will host various events, including winetasting, music, food, events, and even private events. The seating outside is comfortable and lovely, and it's definitely worth going with your besties like I do, to enjoy the wine, the scenery, and of course the company. This is probably one of the few wineries that I've been to where the staff really sticks. I enjoy going in at different times of the year, seeing familiar faces, and having everyone remember me. It just makes the experience super special. They have a wine club that is absolutely worth joining, and for a period of time I was a member, and the deals they offer are pretty phenomenal. They have a couple of dogs that love to play lol it's clean, bright and casual yet classy. Owners were great, answered questions and had conversation. If you're in the area, give them a try.
