Today we explored Sutter Creek with Corina's daughter, her husband Andrew, their two kiddos, and Andrew's parents, Luis and Teri. After lunch and shopping we went to the Bella Grace Tasting Room in the center of Sutter Creek. This is a really nice place that no visitors like us should miss. Our server, Magica, was probably the best I have ever had in a tasting room or restaurant. She is a very special young woman. Corina ask her if her name was Spanish and she said yes. Corina then said it was a very beautiful name and very rare also. Then their conversion switched to Spanish of which I sadly learned very little of when young even though I have been to Baja and Mexico over 100 times. This is a great place to spend an hour or two. Their gift shop is stocked with not only their excellent wine, but also olive oils and vinegars. We highly recommend it! read more

I never write reviews but I feel compelled to do it. Their Tuscan Salt is the best seasoning for cooking almost anything (and it's a great gift)! I ordered more to restock my supply and although it was delivered, someone must have stolen it out of our mailbox. I spoke with Damian and he resent my order for free. As we walked into the old historical home we felt like we had gone back in time. The tasting room downstairs was new and modern so we decided to do the tasting on the back patio. Nicely covered and blocked from the wind. Beautiful landscaping and very calming to relax outside for the tasting. The staff were very personal, talkative and great customer service. Every the lady came out with another bottle she gave us history of the grapes, fermenting and pairing. We ended getting quite a few bottles. We didn't have a reservation but lucked out when a few people canceled and they were able to squeeze us in. The very nice woman who poured for us was great. They were short staffed and she was HUSTELING! The wine was just okay. Nothing I loved but the Rose was nice enough that I bought a few bottles for where the weather gets warmer. Who am I kidding ... those will be long got before the temps even come close to "Summer Highs". I liked the outdoor tasting area. The sun was shining and it was just nice to sit outside, soak up the fresh air and enjoy being in this cute little town. So many people raved about the wine at BellaGrace but it wasn't as great as I was hoping or maybe my pallet was off? The BEST part of our stop was the Olive Oil and Vinegar tasting room. We were so sad to walk into this place and be met with attitude. We've been here multiple times and never needed a reservation. That, and the property is not conducive to a stroller from the street so we walked around to the back patio to seek out a table, as we've done many times. Big empty table, great, we all sit down. We had just finished my mom's birthday dinner at Hotel Sutter and wanted to do a wine tasting, olive oil tasting, and grab a few bottles of oil to take home! Patti came out after we sat to ask us if we had a reservation. When we told her no and asked if we needed one, she was visibly annoyed. I mentioned how we'd never had to make reservations before and she said "well it's a holiday weekend" A. Like we were stupid and B. Like they always require reservations. No big deal at all! Totally get it. You guys had a patio of empty tables we thought we could snag but, with reservations on the list, we had to get up and leave. I understand that, but I don't understand why it felt like this lady was being rude. We are customers, who've visited more than once, and who were about to make purchases. I reeaaalllly wanted a few bottles of olive oil to restock what we are low on at home but after that, I didn't want to give them my money. Maybe it was a bad day, who knows. I do know that we were all on a bit of a high from our celebratory day and Patti quickly squashed that. Be sure to make a reservation for tasting. I thought I could hop in for a tasting at the bar, but it seemed like that really turned them off. It was the Saturday before Mother's Day, but they weren't busy. Once they said I could do a tasting at the bar, someone else joined me and that I guess was one too many and they said we would have to be sat at that point. All good to make room in that area, but there was definitely some attitude. Was told we could buy glasses and sit out front. They just seemed really annoyed when I was all about throwing money their way and making purchases. Bought two glasses and a bottle just to get out of there, but won't be back and will just buy their wine at Costco in the future. It was hot and maybe busy at other points, so I can empathize. Beautiful back patio that we've enjoyed in the past too. But if you want to casually stop by a tasting room in Sutter Creek and be greeted by staff, this is not the spot. read more

So much class and so much "grace". Bella Grace is the tasting room that you want to go to when you want to relax and sip on some delicious wine! This was my first stop on the Wine on 49's wine crawl, and it was definitely a memorable one. The exterior is reminiscent of an elegant little cottage. So cute! When I walked in, I was warmly greeted and escorted to their back patio to enjoy a seated tasting. Their patio is quaint and overlooks a small grassy field where dogs can roam around and where children can play. The weather was perfect and the shaded from the umbrella coverings kept us cool from the sunrays. Damian was our wine host and did an excellent job presenting each wine. We indulged in a food and wine pairing that featured two of their award winning wines; their 2014 Primitivo and their 2017 Vermentino white wine. Both wines were very good but I really took to their Vermentino as it was light and refreshing. I especially loved this paired with their goat cheese crostini. Their lamb ragu on palenta was also equally as tasty. After our tasting, we then went up into another room where they had several vinegars and olive oils that were open for tasting. I didn't spend too much time tasting their olive oils and vinegars, but the few that I did taste were really delicious! I really like that they keep a variety of different vinegars on deck. Their indoor tasting room is very social and there's another small room located right across from their olive oil and vinegar tasting room that has comfy sofas inside. This may be another place to enjoy a seated tasting. In the end, I was very impressed with Bella Grace! I loved the relaxing atmosphere here and I really like their wines and generous hospitality! I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this winery. A few years ago I took a fabulous vineyard and cave tour of their place just northeast of Plymouth. I highly recommend getting off the beaten path and check out site. While there the staff suggested we go the to the tasting room in Sutter Creek that night and enjoy the live band. On the back porch during the summer Bella Grace offers mini concerts. Bring a blanket and snack, sit on the lawn and enjoy their wine with some great entertainment. Bella Grace has a wonderful Pinot Noir I was hoping to pickup, but obviously everyone else also knows how great it is, and they were already out of stock. The staff was nice to even double check and make sure there wasn't a missed bottle or two for me. They did a delicious pairing for the YGCG Wine on 49 event. A goat cheese crostini and a lamb ragu on polenta. A 2017 Vermentino and the 2015 Primitivo. Damian was really hoping as the groups came and went during the afternoon. What's not to love? We just went to the tasting room in Sutter Creek and absolutely fell in love. The tasting​ room is in a historic house set back from the main street in a beautiful​ shady yard. We went inside and down the​ stairs to the tasting room in the cool cellar of the house. We were greeted​ by Damien and sat at the large oak bar. We were able to share one flight and were given a choice of wines to try. We started out with the 3 Graces Blanc. This was a light slightly fruity blend but crisp so not overly sweet. We then moved to the Vermentino. Another light white wine with a definite​ peachy tone again crisp and refreshing on a hot summer day. After that was the Bella Rosé. I am rediscovering​ "pink wines" and this one was outstanding. Bright with berry and flower notes, but a bit of sassiness​ to make it interesting. We moved to the Prosecco and from there tried the Montagnaro​ a luscious​ blend of Barbera​ and Zinfandel. It was rich and spicy but smooth. We are looking forward to coming back and having a food and wine tasting. We are also very much enjoying our bottles of Bella Rosé and Montagnaro that we brought home with us. read more

This place was so cute! My friends and I came to check out Sutter's Creek for the day and happened to stop in to BellaGrace and we are so glad we did! They were able to take us without a reservation and being a little past 3pm. We got a flight and really enjoyed the wine. We weren't rushed to finish our flight, even though it was after 4pm and they were technically closed. our host was very friendly. I ended up taking home a bottle of the Grenache Blanc, it's one of the BEST white wines I've ever had! My friend tried the Grenache Blanc even thought she doesn't like white wine and she said it was actually really good. She took home a bottle of the Montagnaro. read more

I was at Bella Grace with a buddy up from LA county. We got there about 30 minutes before closing but were welcomed warmly by no less the owner, Charlie. He even showed us the cellar and told us how it was built. We tasted a Viognier, Vermentino, Rose of Syrah and a few reds. Nice wines. I bought one of the Syrah rose. Beautiful view to the south. It was when we were enjoying the view that we saw the first signs of smoke that turned into the Electra fire rather far away. read more

They also have some amazing balsamics with free bread for tasting. Now onto the wine.. theirs is some of the best in the county. The pink Spumante rose is to die for and their old vine zin is a classic. They have a great out door seating area on the patio or in the grass to sit and hangout with friends while sharing a bottle when the weather is nice. What a perfect place to come spend an afternoon sinking wine and enjoying the California sunshine. This wine tasting room is a converted little old bungalow with several different rooms. One room features the balsamic and olive olive tasting. I loved the lemon olive oil and the balsamic vinegar with honey was pretty amazing. Anthony helped us in this room and gave us suggestions for different pairings. Damian helped us during the serving and he was so kind and full of information. He told us all about the wines and winery itself. I loved the two wines we tried and can tell this would be a great place to visit again. Oh, and fun fact they have recently been added to the list of wineries served in Disneyland where I oddly enough tried them for the first time. This place had a super cute back yard area with cornhole. I could see coming here with a picnic and playing cornhole and enjoying a few glasses of wine. A true winner! read more

Our first stop along our wineries crawl was at BellaGrace. This winery has quite a lot to offer from their food and wine pairings to their olive oil and vinegar tasting room. We were seated outside on the patio overlooking the small lawn. They have a few lawn chairs outside and corn hole set up to play while enjoying your wine and the great weather. This place is dog friendly and I personally loved seeing some puppers run around while I sipped my wine. Our server Damian was friendly and prompt and took great care of us. This place is really building a name for themselves in the wine world. They even just got one of their wines in Pixar Park in Disneyland! I highly recommend this winery for its variety of tasting options and the great outdoor space. read more

Very unfortunate because we were really hoping for a better experience. My husband and I went to Bella Grace tasting room before and had a very pleasant experience, prior to today which is why we returned. After a little chit chat, we were offered a listing of how the tastings worked. My husband had to use the restroom and I was waiting while she helped the couple in front of us. I waited a while as they paid and wrapped up their purchases. Another couple came in the door. They were greeted and told she'd be right with them. My husband returned and thought we'd be next. Very unfortunately we were skipped for the couple that came after us with no acknowledgement. My husband asked one other person about their olive oils, she said if we were interested we could go get it from upstairs. This after mind you she just brought one down for the couple before us. That was insult to injury and we can take a hint. We both looked at each other and walked out. I'm not saying they were treating us that way because we were a certain ethnicity, but that is just what this world has come to. The only reason I'm writing this is because of this unfortunate incident and I would like to save other couples from having the same bad experience there. BellaGrace's Sauvignon Blanc, A.K.A. The Patio Pounder, is one of the most delicious wines I have ever tasted. It is sweeter and less dry than other sauv b's and I was surprised to hear that it has little to no residual sugars. I wish I would have purchased 2 bottles instead of just 1. Other stand outs were the Vermintino and Rose. My inner girly girl loves the idea of a Rose (it's pink!) but my taste buds usually don't agree. This Rose was the perfect balance of sweet and dry. I kinda wish I would have left with a bottle, but hey it gives me a reason to come back. The location and space are great. There is a den like tasting room with a grand fireplace. It is old timey and cozy. There is also a large patio where you can enjoy by the glass or do a tasting. Great wines, nice and knowledgeable people, and a great space. read more

BellaGrace is not only one of the top wineries in the Amador region, it's one of the few that has a convenient tasting room centrally located in the heart of Sutter Creek. The Shenandoah Valley is worth a visit, for sure, but it's nice to be able to sample some quality wines before perusing the shops in this quaint little town. The tasting room is basically a beautifully converted old house on a lovely piece of property in the town center. There is plenty or room to lounge or arrange a private tasting with friends in their back room or patio area. There is even a piano near the entrance for those who want to express their appreciation for fine vino in music. The employees are always friendly and attentive and, most importantly, know their product well. I'm not much of a wine expert, but I know quality when I taste it. I guess that's why I've been a member of their wine club for four years running! read more
