There are so many cute little winery's in this area. We decided to stop here after shopping in the all the cute stores. The place isn't that big, a few tables right in front of the building and there's also tables facing the vineyard. We were greeted by Hannah when we walked in. We decided to try some red wines. After a few tastes, Hannah recommended her favorite, we tried it and loved it. There's a small refrigerator by the cash register filled with different cheeses and there is also a small selection of crackers to choose from. Scott Harvey is the epitome of wine making perfection. He has taken Amador County and created a wine destination. Amador County is quaint, and a must experience for wine lovers, and those that enjoy the serenity of the majestic mountains. I had been winetasting with some friends and they graciously introduced me to Scott Harvey. They have three locations currently for wine tasting, and we stopped in to the Sutter Creek tasting room. The place was filled with happy people enjoying a variety of different tastings. Initially I was just going to enjoy the experience through my friends eyes, when the extremely helpful woman behind the counter brought over this beautiful bottle of port. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe the body of the port. Many people do you port as the lesser of some fabulous reds, when in fact this is one of the best ever. It's not inexpensive by any means, but a definite must have. It's worth the effort, the cost, and did I mention how amazing it is?! It absolutely makes the combination of cheese, chocolate and other deliciousness go so incredibly well as a paring. We did try some of the regular red's, and they were just as delicious! Scott Harvey is truly a master vintner. I love that he was trained in Europe but is definitely a local. Yes, I absolutely am still raving about the wonderful port, and the delicious reds that we enjoyed. The shop is comfortable, and it makes wine tasting an enjoyable adventure. Scott Harvey Wines had some of the most hospitable sommeliers during our wine crawl in Sutter Creek! Not only were they cordial, but they really took the time to explain the elements of each wine along with the pairings. This was the second stop along our wine crawl in Sutter Creek, and we really enjoyed the delicious wines and the intimate tasting that we had here. We tasted three of their signature wines that were each paired with different jerkies. First of all, whoever decided to pair the wines with jerky is so clever! These pairings tasted incredible and truly brought out the distinct flavors and aromas of each wine. Our first pairing was their 2016 Tickle Me Pink blend with buffalo wing chicken jerky. This wine was actually my favorite of the bunch! The fruity aromas and light sparkling element was enough to win me over. I also really adored the cute label on the bottle! Next up was their 2014 Mountain Zinfandel paired with elk jerky. I must say that the elk jerky really brought the flavors of this Zin to life. It was truly the perfect pairing! Last on our list was their 2013 Three Stags Red Blend along with a red wine beef jerky! The red blend was fragrant and a little more dryer and earthy than I'm used to, but it was still enjoyable. Scott Harvey also has vinegars and olive oil for sale in their tasting room, and there's a small tasting counter where you can sample some of his selections. I loved the intimate environment here! Rumor had it they make a port. While roaming Sutter Creek during YGCG, I had a mission. My biggest mission that weekend was restock my wine rack with some fabulous ports for the long coming winter. I searched Yelp reviews and talked to other Yelpers to find that I needed to check out Scott Harvey. Here's another quaint tasting room on Main Street in Sutter Creek. It's not showy or flashy, just welcoming. As I was looking around, Melissa asked if I was interested in a tasting. I said - I heard you have a port, and that's what I would love to try. She opened a bottle of 2011 Forté with a smile and began describing it. It's not a true port but is made in the style of a port, as it is a fortified wine. That first sip had that warming feel with a slight caramel, but not sweet. Yes that will be perfect for this winter. And check out that cute fancy bottle. Wonderful spot to try a couple tastes and pick up a bottle for home. We came through on a wine tasting tour of Main Street in Sutters Creek while on mini vacation from Sacramento. Out of all of the wineries on this street Scott Harvey was one of my favorite places. Mrs. Harvey was so sweet and friendly. She laughed at my dumb joke about Mr. Harvey being angry when someone broke their wine glass in the nearby sector of the building. Mrs. Harvey paired our three pours with three snacks to accentuate. First, as we walked in we were greeted immediately by a gentlemen named Franklin that was super cool and friendly. He made us immediately feel like we were at a friends home. On top of the great company and customer service, Franklin was outstanding and top notch. It's hard nowadays to just find good human beings and he was amazing. My family loved our visit to Scott Harvey. Everything about our experience was superb. Hannah was very friendly in sharing her knowledge about the fabulous wines and even let us sample some that weren't on the tasting schedule. The wines were so delicious that we bought a half case! While spending some time in Sutter Creek before attending my friend's wedding at a local winery, my boyfriend and I decided to do some wine tasting. Our first stop was at Scott Harvey Wine Tasting Room. The place was empty but we were warmly greeted by the wine connoisseur. Their tastings are $7 per person but the fee is waived for each purchase of a bottle of wine. I sampled all five of their red wines they were currently pouring, with my favorite being the classic Zinfandel. We even got to sample a traditional "ice" wine, which was too sweet for me but could probably be paired well with a cheese plate. Anyways, this wasn't my favorite winery in the Sutter Creek area, but it wasn't the worst. It's your average winery with more traditional style red wines. read more
