We've been wine members here for 3 years now and hands down this is one of our favorite wineries. This is a small family owned winery with a cave to taste in. The cave is the best way to beat the heat in the summer months. From the first time coming to now, I've felt like family. Cris and Gordon make sure to remember our names and fun things about us. Truly speaks to their love and character. The wine is Ahhhmazing. So delicious and bold. We love the bubbles too! I highly recommend coming here for an afternoon. The grounds are beautiful set up on a hill. Bring a picnic and enjoy.

Great port find. Friends are wine club members here and recently invited me to join them at a tasting and pick up on Nevada Day weekend. Glad they did, I'm not sure I would have ever discovered this spot. This small family owned winery is off the beaten path in the FairPlay area. Prior to covid, tastings were done in the cave. Now they have built a large covered patio for outdoor tasting. The patio has a fantastic view overlooking the acres of orange and red grape vines. The husband and wife owners walked us through the three different tasting menus, then poured each glass. I went with the all red menu, mainly for the final selection of their port. It consisted of a 2015 Tuelu, 2014 Zinfandel, 2014 Winemaker's Selection that was a GSM blend, 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015 Petite Sirah and 2014 Zinfandel Port. Of all the ports I had been sampling over the three day weekend, this was the absolute best. It had that warm caramel essence without being sweet. It's going to be the perfect winter evening night cap. The access to the tasting cave is a narrow gravel road. Plenty of parking available in a gravel lot.

We read about this winery in The Financial Times review and decided to make the trek from Los Angeles to check it (and other neighboring wineries) out. Needless to say, we loved it! The owners, Gordon and Chris, were the most gracious hosts and the wines they served were delicious. We especially loved the Zinfandel Port, but there were several other wines that were exceptional. The winery and tasting room are unique and picturesque and the member who come there to hang out, catch up and chat, are all very lovely. We were glad to have made this our first stop in this hidden gem of a wine country!

Gwinllan is one of my favorite places to go wine tasting in the Fairplay area. If you have the opportunity to attend one of their events, do it! The crowds are fun, the wine is great, and the food they make is delicious! The owners are so friendly and make you feel welcome right away, and their wine maker Jonathon is very knowledgeable and friendly as well. I love that the tasting room has a different atmosphere to it. It's fun being in a "cave" with a bunch of wine barrels. The view from the patio is especially beautiful in the fall!

What a great visit at Gwinllan Estate! Tasting in the wine caves was such a fun experience, not to mention a great way to beat the heat! The wines we tasted were so unlike anything else we tasted while visiting Fair Play - that being said, we left with multiple bottles to take home (shoutout to the phantom rosé). We felt right at home during our tasting and were offered many pairing suggestions throughout the tasting as well. We will definitely make it back here & I recommend a stop at Gwinllan to anyone visiting the area for the first time or the hundredth time :)

The staff are super friendly and know there wines, and there own product very well.. I tend to always enjoy there Sherriff blend. Ambiance is very relaxing, inside they have a nice setting, with wood, and just relaxing.,.. The outside is not 100% covered how ever, more but allows the sun to somewhat come through, but somewhat shady as well. The patio area is Dog friendly, and they will bring out water for your pooch , no wine for the dogs tho.... lol

We had a great visit at Shadow Ranch for pizza on the patio. We had reservations for 1:30 and when…read morewe got there it wasn't too busy, but pretty soon it was packed up. We tried three different pizzas between us, the pepperoni, the gorgonzola with fig and the daily special, which was hawaiian, though we sub'd pepperoni for ham. We did a gluten free crust for two of them and it was, by far, the best gluten free crust I've had. It was still crispy on the bottom, just like a regular wood-fired pizza. Flavor-wise, the gorgonzola fig was everyone's favorite, by far. The fig, cheese and spicy arugula was just perfect. We held the walnuts. Tracy took care of us and we loved our tasting. Our designated driver was treated to an Arnold Palmer, much better than just his usual bottle of water. I thought their wines were pretty reasonably priced, even for non-members. You need to buy at least $60 worth of wine to waive the $15 tasting price - I appreciate that they put that right at the top of the menu so there's no guessing. The tasting was really generous with good pours so even if we hadn't bought wine I would have felt it was worth it. Tracy took great care of us, answering all our questions and keeping our water and wine glasses filled. It was a wonderful, relaxing day on the beautiful property.
